Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am curious. Does anyone "disable" the odometer on their towed vehicle when it is being towed? If yes, why do you do so? I've been thinking about this and realize that I would need to keep records for driving miles and for towed miles so that I would know when to perform what maintenance. Co...
Hi everyone, we recently started a new blog so thought we would post here. We started our full-time adventure Dec 9, 2006. We are younger than most (mid 30's), sold it all, and have no regrets. Please read about our adventure(s): Evans RV Adventures -- Edited by RobertandShelly at 11:18, 2007-0...
This weekend, after using the MH (a 2000 Winnie Adventurer 35U) the living room slide would not retract. When you push the switch to bring it in, the unit makes noise but did not move. It took someone operating the switch, two people pushing on the outside and one person pulling on the inside to get it sta...
Can a 1993 Ford Ranger 4WD (manual transmission) be towed 4 wheels down? It has two buttons on the dash - 4X4 & 4 Low. If it can be, then what must be done to do so? Thanks to anybody who reponds to this question.
We were at the Tampa RV show last weekend and saw several RV water softeners. I inquired about these units and received tons of information. Camping world sells 2 different kinds. I was wondering if anyone actually has one of these. If so, which one? I have heard that having a softener is better fo...
There was a discussion the other day about this on another forum. One of the posters posted a spreadsheet that did some calculations to determine the HP needed to do a certain grade at a certain speed with a specified mass. Being the geek that I am, I converted that spreadsheet into a little web applica...
We were able to camp this past weekend, Thurs thru Sun, at the Hugh White State Park in Grenada, Mississippi and we were very pleased with the campground and I just wanted to share this with other RVers. Hugh White is a state park and also a corp park and has lots of shade and very nice parking with lots of s...
Just wanted to say hi to everybody. I've been a fulltimer since the 16th of June. My home is a 33' MH. I work at a RV park as a groundskeeper for site and grocery $. I am enjoying the new life and am looking forward to all the friends I will make along the way and the roads I will travel down, or up as the case may b...
Greetings from the Lone Star State! Sandy and I began our RV odyssey in 2005. We were totally clueless in the beginning, but now we're only occasionally insensible. We've had a ton of fun swerving into this new lifestyle, and we do love it! We've also had a few bumps along the way with health iss...

Everyone is familiar with the traditional logic of buy late model us...
Congratulations to Howard & Linda. We will vote for you as the "Time" couple of the year award. You deserve it and we are happy for you. It is a good way to bring this life style to the general public. -- Edited by jdensie at 13:18, 2007-09-26
From the Daily Journal Sept 21: In the middle of my cleaning Linda called. "Are you ready for this? You know that voicemail I had? Well, you'll never guess who it was. On Tuesday morning of next week, we are going to be interviewed by ____________ !"Sorry, but we're keeping the name a sec...
Hello All, This is my first post and I will provide some background. I think we are close to where Howard and Linda were when they started out in 2004/5. We are also in out mid 40's, no children, and basically have been finding life not going the way we want it. Most people would consider us successful...
Does anybody know why Life On Wheels was cancelled in Pennsylvania this year? Mike and I were thinking that we would like to attend the LOW in Pennsylvania next year (2008) but I don't want to get all excited and they cancel again. Are some better than others? The timing in Pa is perfect for us. Thank...
We would appreciate any information on places to stay on the west side of Louisville in Indiana. If you have any suggestions or personal recommendations, please post them. Thank you, LIKENIT
I recently purchased a Cat Diesel powered pusher MH for our almost here fulltiming departure. I previously owned only gas powered motorhomes. As a former diesel mechanic, I always do as much of my own maintenance as possible. With my gas MH's it was a breeze, 6 1/2 qts of oil, an oil filter, a fuel fil...
MSNBC has a post asking RV readers for pictures of their rigs. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20841912/ Hmmm, wonder if this is related to Howard and Linda's interview today. Judy H.
Ok I just thought I would post this topic to provide info to anyone interested about my addition of a propane fired instant water heater. I did a lot of research on here about the subject and only really found some cursory information on the topic. I pm'd Hit The Road Jack (rv.net) for some info and he wa...
I just began my non-career of retired full-timer (hit the road in early May). I have yet to spend a winter on the road. My Travel Supreme is supposed to be well suited for winter's cold with good insulation and double pane windows so I do not fear camping in areas that may experience cold weather and some s...
Well it's been four and a half months, NOW THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED, keep your finger's crossed that all goes well. We will close on October 19th if all goes well and since it's late in the season and getting close to the holidays we will remain in Maryland until December 28th. I will continue to work also un...
Could those of you that have workamped give us an average length of time that you were asked to commit? We only have experience with hosting in a state park where you pretty much sign up for the amount of time you want to stay (depending on availability). A lady called us yesterday from a private campgr...
These are presumably lower end models, however I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge, either directly or through others of the Four winds Windsport or Hurricane Motor Homes. Any feed back will be appreciated. Thanks, Bago. -- Edited by bago40 at 19:16, 2007-09-19
I would like to introduce myself and my DW Sally. we are 55 and just about to go FT. The house on on the market and were just waiting for it to sell. The market is a little slow out here in CA but I think in a moth or so it will happen. I (Mike) am the one that usually looks at the forms and post the most DW (Sally) is m...
So I finally broke down and purchased and installed tonight one of the Precision temp Tankless water heaters. Good way to drop a quick grand, installation took about 3 hours total. Removing the old one was no problem but installing the new one was a little more involved. The inlet and outlets are just t...
Most likely a dumb question, but ? Could you set up a large battery bank and good inverter/charger and a small genset (honda 2k) and power an ac ? I understand that running the ac draws less amps than when it actually starts and cycles, so if your battery bank/inverter can handle the starting/cycleing...
