Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
At present we are not old enough to retire, pay own health ins., and workamp to suppliment. Been full timing for about a year. Have read about the tax breaks of several states. Have been looking at South Dakota vs Texas as health issues are cheaper, insurance also is cheaper, as well as state taxes....
I'd like to know if anyone else that has Direct TV satellite is noticing that the receiver is very hot, even when it's not turned on. On a resent outting I happen to put my hand up in the bulk head where I keep the receiver and noticed that it was very hot and it wasn't on at the time. I keep the bulk head door op...
Has anyone replaced an older style tv in a motor home? We have a "square screen" tv in our 04 Bounder. I'd like to get a flat-screen LCD TV. Just wondering what it will take to do this. Can we just go in to Best Buy or Sears and buy the right size and put it in ourselves, or is this something th...
As time passes we are moving out of vacation mode and into the RV lifestyle. It seems that when we find a good place we have little motivation to move on unless there is an outside stimulas like the kids want to see us or something is broken and needs to be fixed. We generally find a lot of places to explore...
We are very near to fulltime and trying to get all the ducks lined up. I have read about different ways to heat the rig without using the furnace. I am leaning toward a catalytic heater. What can you folks that have them tell me? Brand, size, propane consumption, portable or wall mount, safety etc. I appr...
We are fulltimers - but my husband is working fulltime with the Army (Reservist on orders.) and I am back in college working on my teacher's certification. So not much traveling for us yet. For my current class I had to pick a topic to write about and do a survey. So guess what topic I picked? Of course,...
Hello all. Well, my wife ( Margaret ) and I along with our 16 year old grandson went to the Hershey pa RV show yesterday ( 09/14/07). Looking for suggestions regarding the removal of a sofa sleeper from our 5the wheel. Is there an easy way to get it out of the trailer without dismantling it?
Howard,
My wife and I are serioiusly considering becoming fulltimers. We have found your website to be the most informative we have seen and thank you for sharing.
We are looking at the F450 and a 5ver.
My questions for you are:
Did you get the 4x4 option on your truck?
Have you traveled any ste...
We've been checking Howard's journal, and there are no new entries since the 9th, and no mention at all about how Linda is doing. Is she OK? A lot of us are concerned!
Hi, A question for any of you folks who have used a Select Comfort Sleep Number air bed (or any air bed with similar construction). We have the typical lousy quality short-Queen mattress in our RV. It is in the slideout area, so we are stuck with a short length requirement when we close the slideout. My hu...
We have it a little easier in that we will move from a house to an apartment for about 6-8 months before going to the RV.. (If you call that easier- at least it's gradual.) BUT a lot of you stated you had several yard sales? Did you do some before, after, durring the sale of the house?&nb...

We have had Nextel (now Sprint) for years here in the northeast. Only had problem in Maine getting reception. Do any of you have them for your cell phone service? We go fulltime in 17 months. Contract expires in about 12 months. Looking at options. We like the Direct connect option. Feedback app...
Well this is the second weekend in a row where it's been overcast and rainy, and no Direct tv signal and most of all no Nascar, never had this problem at home with the dish. Is this a normal occurence with the dome dish and would I still get a signal with the oval dish? We have a Kingdome 3 lnb and Direct. Any he...
Hi. Ladies, I need your help...We have been looking at Class A MHs and they are all starting to look alike. My husband knows what he wants in the way of engines, transmissions etc. We have been traveling in a 31 foot Class C and realize that that is not enough room to full time in. The ones we have been look...

Yup, I put down a deposit on a motorhome today. I hope to be able to get it within the next week to 10 days. I'm so excited!! It's a 1999 Fleetwood Tioga, 26', has the Ford V-10 Triton engine and is on the Ford F-450 chassis which gives me over 2800# of carry capacity and 5000# of tow capacity. It has new Pergo f...
Just wondering if anyone uses a Data Card with a router? Have talked to quite a few people who use the Sprint air card CDMA/1XRTT @144kbps. DH and I have been tossing this around to the point we are actually going to some of the stores and getting additional information. Also heard that AT+T will be...
We are considering a aluminum roll top cover for our truck. Does anyone have or use something like this. We considered having a tarp like H&L's made but, we will be carrying our two honda generators in it, and would like a little more security when not hitched up. We are looking at this one here Ken

For some time now, we have been planning to take the Fulltime RV plunge after my husband's retirement. We are a little disappointed that we are not yet ready to go, but we are hoping to speed things up a little now that my job ended...just last week... and John's retirement date is in just a couple of wee...
Hello to all RVers. We are full-timers since 10-1-06. We resided in Texas for the past 10 years but previously lived in Florida. I grew up in Clearwater, FL and my wife grew up in Emporium, PA. We have a great puppy named Trike, who has his own blog, http://trikestravels.blogspot.com/ . We have a 38' N...
We have a 2002 Cedar Creek Fiver we bought in February. First 6 trips out in it, no problem. ON 7th trip upon arrival at the campground we found our living room TV on the floor with cable connections broken off. It did some damage to the fireplace below by scratching the brass. Luckily no broken glas...
We've been full-timing less than a month now, in our Arctic Fox 27-5L fifth wheel, Ford F-250 TV, with two slides, a DataStorm on the roof and a 14-lb Yorkie-poo travelin' companion. We're probably one of the smallest rigs here, but since we moved from a 31-foot sailboat, this seems like a mansion to us...
My wife and I have been following RV Dreams for over 1 1/2 years. We began to dream of traveling the USA, admiring Gods' creation and doing volunteer work. We did a lot of research before purchasing a truck and fifth wheel trailer. Our small horse farm and everything on it was sold August 12th, two...
