Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I was just out looking for county parks and came across a site I thought I'd share. Sometimes you need to know the name of the county both for travel and your weather radio. On Geology.com if you go to US maps and then click on the state you want you can scroll through several maps of the state from topograph...
Hubby and I looked at this 5th wheel and really liked it. It's small, but nice decor and layout and it's clean! Looked at a 35 ft. Sandpiper bunkhouse 5er also......NOT clean and outside was dripped dirty and mildewed..... why don't people who have something to sell....clean it up first and remove...
Hello! My husband and I are going to start travel nursing (I am a nurse, he is the pit crew that keeps everything running smoothly!). I have a few specific questions that I can't seem to find the answers to-any travelers out there?
What would be suggested as the first RV to purchase for beginners? we are selling our house and want to get on the road.Someone told me that I should purchase a RV that is about 5 years old because they loose their value a good bit int he first 5 years. Any opinions?
My husband and I are very early in the process of buyinf a Class A to full time in, and know next to nothing. Talk about bad timing-we saw two Class As today that we are thinking about buying. One is a 2007 Kountry Star for $140,00 (we didn't get anymore info, as we thought we were still looking). We then went...
I'm sure that this topic has come up before, but I'm not finding what I'm looking for. The question is; is it possible to RV with only Soc. Sec. and workamping only part of the year? I also have a verrrrrry small pension. I am usually very frugal and I hope to visit friends and family all over the country....

Bob and I arrived safely in Dallas, Texas in time for the arrival of our grandson Asher Robert Gilmore on June 6th. He was 9lbs and 3 ozs and 20 3/4' long. Mother and baby are doing great. Check out our blog for pictures: http://gowithgilmores.blogspot.com/ -- Edited by BobJacki2010 on Monday 14t...
My wife's big concern with fulltiming is fuel mileage,MPG. The thought of 8-10 mpg's while on the road scares her. I can't seem to explane to her that mpg's would only be a small part of our budget. Compared to the expences of a home, and driving to work everyday. Can someone help me get this point ac...
Whatever happened to this magazine Howard? When I click the links from mid 2007, I get something else entirely. There were some really good sounding articles I would like to have read. Did you put them somewhere else? Hope Hope! Any comment on my weather radio question from earlier here? Sorry t...
We have sold two cars, put some of our furniture on consignment, gave much away to a thrift shop that supports the community, will give our notice for work next monday, have a few going away things and we are on our way, sent stuff to our kids that you keep in your treasure chest, looking at some of that was h...
Hello, I am sure this has been asked before but asked before. I bought a 1995 wilderness. The old owner showed me where it had leaked before, a little spot in the right front in a kitchen cabinet. He thought he had fixed it. I thought so too as it had rained several times and I never saw it, then there it was. ...
Hello, I hope someone out there with rv buying experience can help us with the questions we have. We are wanting to sell our home because I am currently unemployed and our debt to income is at it's limit. We would like sell and purchase a rv so our bills would be less and also to pay off a few bills in about a ye...
Hello! I have always dreamed of this lifestyle, and thanks to the economy stinking so badly and my sweet husband not being able to find a job in our hometown, we have decided to hit the road. I am an RN, so we are thinking of taking travel assignemnts around the country and living in an RV, I apologize in adv...

I have a satellite dish that has 2 cables coming out of it. How do I connect it to the single satellite connection on the side of my 5er? It is a Dish Network 500. Thanks for any advice.
I am about to spring for the Motorola Droid with Verizon. I know Verizon supports their own tethering for $15 a month with 5 GB limit which is in addition to their $30 a month unlimited data plan that you must buy with the phone. Wouldn't I be better off (financially) not buying the $15 tethering plan, bu...
I realize there have been a number of posts on this topic, but none of them are particularly current, so I'll ask for help. I also realize from reading past posts that GPS units should only be used as a back-up tool when locating campgrounds. However, what we are most interested in is listed below: A uni...
Has anyone camped on Ocracoke Island, NC. There are 3 campgrounds there, Teeters, Beachcomber and a State Park. Only draw back to the State Park is no electricity, and it will be too hot for me without a/c. Reviews I have seen on Teeters and Beachcomber are not too good.
Our travel trailer is a 29' Keystone Cougar. We bought it new about 2 yrs. ago. Everytime we have used it something has broken or fallen apart. It's always minor stuff that I can repair but it really makes me wonder about their quality control or lack thereof. The one thing I haven't been able to figur...
Our cats were inherited, and have never used a litter box. Does anyone else have this issue? I think if let out they would stay close to our mobile home once we hit the road, but I am a little concerned about other folk's dogs, wolves, large birds of prey....
We have been doing our research for some time. As such, we have pretty well narrowed our choice down to a Doubletree Mobile Suites 38 foot fifth wheel and a SportChassis (mini-Freightliner) with which to pull the fiver. Then I stepped in it today. I have been copying and pasting Howard and Linda's jou...
Well it finally happened.... after 31 years of driving RVs, I was involved in an accident. Thankfully. no one was hurt. This accident makes me like the MDT I use as a tow vehicle even more. The basic scenario of the accident is, a lady in a Toyota Tercel cut in front of my truck and caught the right fro...

We just today bought a second laptop for our fulltiming adventure and it came with Windows 7. Our other laptop has Vista. We have US Cellular cell service which tethers to our laptop for internet. We've been very satisfied with it so far although we haven't traveled too much. There is not a router sp...
Sence the Ever-Lite TT weighs less than other brands for the same size unit the possibilities of using other vehicles to tow them increases. So, I thought it would be good to put the issue of towing the Ever-lite out there and maybe we all could share our experiences to make the towing part even better. A...
Well just got back from a two week whirlwind adventure tour in Alaska. Flew into Anchorage and rented for two weeks a 31 foot, single slide, winnie from Great Alaskan Holidays (it was a great experience with them). My trip had two goals in mind. To see as much as we could of Alaska in the areas we wanted to...
After following so many Dreamers and their journey, I have finally started my own blog. For me it is a big step, first to actually put thoughts down in writing for the whole world to see and second, (and maybe more important) it is a commitment to myself that this really what I want to enrich the time I hav...
I've got a both a Honda Accord all set up with kayak racks and bike racks that I thought I would tow behind my 2004 Brave. But NO 4 wheel down. What's your experience with/opinion of having a dolly? Hate to buy another car and then have it outfitted to tow. Whew what an expense but IF in the long run the cons...
I am flying to Los Angeles on Friday to purchase our class A motorhome. I will be driving it back home to Delaware. Can someone suggest the best route (or a couple options) for me? If not, how about a suggestion for a good trucker's atlas? I will be driving a 35' unit and want to take the easiest route. I want...
