Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello! My husband and I are going to start travel nursing (I am a nurse, he is the pit crew that keeps everything running smoothly!). I have a few specific questions that I can't seem to find the answers to-any travelers out there?
--Since most travel assignments are 13 weeks or less, there is a possibility that we could be moving freq. How do you receive mail?
--What is a fair amount of time to request "off" between assignments?
--I have read postings that say many folks just do laundry at launderettes, but I"m not sure that would work for me, as I'm kind of a freak about laundry (dirty scrubs-ewww, need I say more?). Do you have washer/dryers? Pros and cons?Powerful? Lots of maintainance? Cost effective?
--Do you keep your home state as original liscensure, and then just get compact licenses for the states you travel to? I'm confused, since my "home state" will change when travelling-should I just use my state where I own my house, graduated etc? Or would I just be licensed in multiple states?
--One of the reasons we are hitting the road is the economy. My DH hasn't been able to find work in our hometown in quite awhile (he is a licensed electrician). What do your sig others do while on the road?Workamping sounds intriguing, could anyone tell me if there are pretty consistant jobs he could find? He's very handy, super friendly, and can do just about anything.
This is a start-thanks again for any info you could offer!
Roland Ballow, fellow RV-Dreamer, is a traveling nurse. I sent his wife, Nancy, an email asking her to have him check your post. I'm sure he can really help answer your questions.
Good luck. I'm a retired RN, and did some traveling while still in our stix and bricks. Gail

Hi Dessert Nurse, I will be interested in the responses you get to your questions, as my situation is almost exact! Here is a link I think you'll find interesting: http://travelnursingblogs.com/
Keep looking around online (I've just started my research). It seems that Travel Nurse companies that help you sort thru the licensing nightmares would be the most helpful.
