Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We will be heading out on vacation in a few weeks to meet up with some family in Franklin. We thought we would ask and see if any one had any good campgrounds to recommend. Also we would love any suggestions of activites in the area. We will be there the first week of July. Thanks in advance John and Terr...
Any one out there have experience with waterless hot water heaters in their RV? Thiniking about upgrading the water heater and looking to save $$$ on electric useage. Not sure how they would perform in our fulltiming lifestyle.
My husband stumbled upon this site last night while researching fifth wheels. I'm hooked I've been reading for hours with little sleep!!! There is so much great information here. We have been married 11 years and have 6 sons between us and 4 grandkids all under 9 months. Our youngest will be a senio...
Greetings Everyone! My name is Jenny and I'm sure I'll also be posting on behalf of my DH Jason from time to time. We are in our 41 and 40 (not telling whose older ) and have 4 great kids, 2 Austrailian shephards, 1 mini Dachshund, and 1 grandson. I'm currently working 50 plus hours each week for a food bro...
Does anyone have any experience / know anything about the Mandalay Presidio line of motorcoaches? We saw a 2009 model online that looks like a a good mix of 5th wheel storage and livability with diesel pusher ease and basement storage and we're trying to decide if it's worth the 3 hour drive to Alvarad...
After much research we purchased an older RV which was in good shape, low mileage and a newer roof. The dealer didn't mention what the small bump out lines were in the exterior carriage walls. After further research we found out that it is the exterior walls that got wet before the new roof was installed...
Well, we been on the road for about two weeks. We have left the Texas area and have traveled through Oklahoma to Missouri to take our driving lessons in Branson. Things are going ok so far, but I have a question about banking. Our bank in CA is Wells Fargo and we use a credit union. As we have headed into O...
I am terribly negligent with userid and password cautions, and have heard a lot lately about KeePass being able to safely manage passwords. I looked at their website and it is more technical than I want to get into. I thought I would ask if anyone on the forum uses it (or something like it), and particu...
Now that summer is here bugs are a huge problem. When we were here in March you could sit on the grass and never see an ant or a bug, but July in Alabama brings out the little beasts, you can't even walk to your truck without picking up a dozen of them. They're even falling out of the trees. Is there an insectic...
I was wondering if anyone had investment properties and traveled for months at a time... We are getting ready to sell our house.. We have our camper and truck so we do not need to spend any money there...We have a good retirement savings and we both plan to work when we travel. My husband wants to invest...
We're still sitting here in Alabama with a S&B. It's now been on the market 4 months and 5 days. We have had 4 people look at it during this time: 1st made an offer that was just too low - we countered with him several times but he just wouldn't budge enough although we dropped considerably. 2...
I have a 96 Dodge 3500 w/ a 12 valve Cummins in it. I've insatalled a Bully Dog turbo back exhaust, K&N air filter and a # 8 torque plate( 210HP-570torque). I now pull a 5th wheel that weighs about 12,000 loaded. I have no problems getting down the road and average about 13mpg pulling. Any thoughts if I...
My inverter charger control panel is a Magnum Energy, it has 2 buttons, INVERTOR-ON/OFF and CHARGER-ON/OFF. I have not hit any of the buttons since we got the Rig, it has been on the whole time. When the genny is running, i assume both buttons should be on, how about when we are plugged in to shore power? A...
We're Jim and Carmel and we have been fulltiming now for two years. We both retired in 2008 in Houston. Jim from a position as HR Director-International from a global construction and engineering firm; Carmel as a Senior Buyer from a large Energy company. We sold our house in a Houston suburb and hit th...
Anybody going to "the Rally" in Louisville at end of July. We decided to drive over and get a day pass. Would love to meet fellow dreamers if you are attending. Howard, if you read this any restaurant recommendations? We will arrive on Friday July 23, do the rally on Saturday and depart Su...
With 33 years of Army and/or Defense Department service under my belt, my wife and I are seriously preparing to pull the plug. Annual snow birding to Arizona and So. Calif (grandkids) is the future plan, so I jumped on the currently low RV industry prices and plunged into a 2010 Forest River XLR 305V1...
A group of us are rendezvousing in the Brunswick, Maine area from July 28th to August 4th for a week of fellowship and sightseeing. We'll be doing some meals together (lobstah stew, fish chowdah, etc.), some eating out, going on a cruise, and visiting LL Bean plus more. So, if any of RV-Dreamers are...
Sigh... this hasn't happened much but it looks like another wacko has hacked into the forum message board... blessing4god@hotmail.com .... Please DON'T click on that link... that is for information only as to who the sender is. I got two PMs (private messages) on the forum from this poor person ......
I am getting noises from my hitch. What type of lubricant do you use? Dry or old fashion grease or some thing I am not aware of that works well with no or little mess.
My home state is New Hampshire. I sold my home and don't have a address anymore. I do have a P.O box there, but the state requirement mail sent to that address to verified you are a residence. If I buy a new rv and when I try to get a title to it. I think the state would ask for more than a P.O. box address. They a...
Hey folks, When we leave the 5er for a day we do not cut our water off. We probably should but since we live in it full time it is never cut off. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to upgrade their water lines? Are the fittings the same as would be on a house? You can buy the stainless hoses different l...
Hey everyone. Rod and Georgia here in Lakewood WA. We are just looking into FT RVing. Will take about a year to get everything into place. Any ideas about the best RV park memberships like Thousand Trails etc. Take care and thanks for sharing with the nesbeees. R&G Just wanted to share a bit a...
Well, I was involved in a collision with the 5ver - a real bummer. But, at least no one was injured and most of the damage was cosmetic. A lot of scraping of the driver's side paint and fiberglass, broken window, mangled sheet metal body parts, etc. The collision occured in Va. & I took the 5ver to a sho...
We are trying to calculate our budget, and wondered what kind of prices we might expect (understanding that there are huge differences, just looking for an average here). We will be in an area for approx 13 weeks at a time, what, in your opinion, can we expect to pay for a 3 month stay in a campground (per n...
We are here at a hotel in Nacogdoches, TX hoping our dealer will get all the "tweaks" finished today and we can be heading North again. This is a planned stop, we have Internet here at the hotel, and we actually slept well (probably just TIRED!) but we still miss our home! It gave me time last e...
