Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

RVing on Soc Sec and workamping only

I'm sure that this topic has come up before, but I'm not finding what I'm looking for.  The question is; is it possible to RV with only Soc. Sec. and workamping only part of the year?confuse I also have a verrrrrry small pension.  I am usually very frugal and I hope to visit friends and family all over the country.  Just doing the research.  Hopefully Class of 2011.    Is there anyone out there doing it now?

I guess it really depends on the lifestyle you plan to lead.  You have to look at how much SS income you will have and estimate what your workamping income would be as well.

Checkout Howard and Linda's Journal where they lay out their budget for all to see.  That should give you a good idea if you have enough income to support your RVing lifestyle.

Good luck!

Bill

Check out "The Adventures of Tioga and George".  George has been fulltiming for over seven years and lives just on SS income and some income from ads on his website.

Good Luck!

Well that is true...just depends on what kind of lifestyle you will be living. I myself plan living on just that plus I am a Disabled Vet. I can't eat out everyday like a lot of the Dreamers out there and I can't go to all the expensive sites that many do. I will have a great porch with a good view and you are welcome to come and set on it for free. If you really want to do this there is a way to do it.

Thank you all for your responses.
I don't plan on eating out much at all.  I too like Phil and Rudee (Workin' Rver's) have had bariatric surgery.  That means small meals and protein shakes.  If I do eat out, I bring most of it home and have another 3 or 4 more meals.  Other than that I lead a pretty simple life.  I want to do more painting, run a small business, get a little more exercise and workamp part of the time.  I just hope that it all works out sooner than later.
Thank you again for any and all comments and opinions.  I know that I can trust most of the comments because most of you have gone through this already and the rest are going through the process now.
