Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well just got back from a two week whirlwind adventure tour in Alaska. Flew into Anchorage and rented for two weeks a 31 foot, single slide, winnie from Great Alaskan Holidays (it was a great experience with them). My trip had two goals in mind. To see as much as we could of Alaska in the areas we wanted to hit (Seward, Coopers Landing, Talkeetna and Denali) and to deviously convince my girlfriend that FT RV'ing is in our future. I have rented RV's many times before for vacations, she has never been in an RV! Well the trip in the RV was incredible. My girlfriend and her daughter loved it as well. She is now convinced that we could definitely do this 'months at a time'. I now have a few years to convince her that 'months at a time' can run indefinitely !!! She particularly liked the convenience of not having to pack and unpack when we went to different destinations, that we could cook the meals we wanted to eat and how we wanted to prepare them, that when we got back from an excursion it felt like coming home rather than going back to a hotel room, on and on as you all well know. Now I just need to start working on a plan of what we should get for short adventures before we take the big plunge down the road. Thanks to all for the wealth of information I have gained by reading your questions and advice.........
We spent a couple of days at Coopers Landing on the Kenai River, stayed in the Kenai Princess RV Park, very nice faciltities Also spent time in Seward, Stoney Creek RV Park, the folks there were very acommodating. Did some Exit glacier hikes, toured Seward and did the Major Marine tour through Resurrection Bay and Gulf of Alaska to see the glaciers. Went to Talkeeetna to do the Mount McKinley airplane ride, very cool hippy-like town. Stayed in Talkeetna Cmaper Park, great little RV campground. The owners, Mark and Laura super friendly and helpful. In Denali we stayed in Grizzly Bear RV Resort. The front office did not impress me for knowledge of area but it was only six miles from Denali park entrance. Did lots of hiking in Denali. Hope this helps.
