Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We're leaving for a 6-7 week trip to Alaska from Georgia in a week. Was wondering if we needed to make campground reservations in advance anywhere along the way or just call a couple hours out? Current plans will take us through Regina, Saskatoon, and Edmonton to Dawson Creek and the Alaska Hwy. A si...
Ray and I just got back from a week in Rutherfordton, NC at a campground that caters to dogs. It is supposed to be the only 1 in the US, and has 7 different dog areas, a pond, agility courses, hiking trails, etc. It is called 4 Paws Kingdom, and our 3 dogs had a blast. We have stayed at campgrounds with bigg...
We just removed our benches from the dinette and are now going to use 4 chairs. Now do they have to be tied down for the journey down the road or let them stand on their own. any advice would be appreciated, thank you
We have a 2008 Jayco Designer, yesterday while using the electric motor to lower the front landing gear lost power to motor. I assumed that the fuse gave out, it looked OK but I installed a new one anyway still no power. I ended up manually extending the landing gear. We went on our way planning on findin...
Is anyone using Dish TV on the road... I am not FT yet but we are spending the summer at a campground in our 5th wheel...I have called Dish TV twice now and have gotten different answers for the same 2questions... Does anyone have any experience using this program. We have a Garmin GPS, and are very happy with it. We have not done much traveling with the RV since we bought the Garmin. Microsoft is advertising that the 2010 version of Streets and Trips has a special feature just for RVers so you can plan a route t...
Hi everyone, I have started a blog reviewing the campgrounds we are staying at. If anyone is coming to Iowa there may be something here for you now. We start our travels in August most of these reviews are for parks in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. In the fall who knows where we'll be?! I'm doing this ma...
We just got our first electric bill at our seasonal site, $240 for 2 months, maybe 12 days in the Rig. That seems a little high, i checked with a few other campers they seem to think the main culprit is the RV Fridge. I stay plugged in and the Fridge automatically goes for the electric, it has been running fu...
My wife and I are trying to decide if we want a truck or an tow-a-long. Does anyone have any idea which one will give us the best gas mileage? Lets say we compare a truck camper with the weight of 1900 lb. (like an Palomino) and a 20’ travel (like an Starcraft at 4900 lb). Our truck is a full size Dodge with 4.7 V...
We took possession Friday 18th and camped locally for 5 days to run all systems and ensure they ran as expected. It did and I only made one trip to the dealer for minor stuff that I would normally have done myself. I wanted the practice so what the heck, its under warrety...therefore hook, move to the deal...
Got away from the facility yesterday afternoon and made the trip safe and sound to Berry Springs RV Park in Georgetown TX. Naturally, in the peak time of heat and humidity of the day. Briefly, a few of insights in less than 24 hours of our new lifestyle: 1) I am about ready to toss out at least half of wha...
Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum, although I've long had the dream of living a full time rv lifestyle. It looks like it's going to be realized, but is still a few years away. In the interim, I'm starting to investigate options and the details of the possibilities. Nothing is cast in stone, but at this point...

Has anyone ever owned or heard about the Travel Supreme Classic 5th Wheels? Looked at a 2006 today and was told it was the top of the line 5er before the company was driven out of business during the downturn of the economy a few years ago.
Hello, jb the wannabe from MO here. We will be hitting the road next spring and using Texas as our home base. This seems like a dumb question (probably the first of many) Can we renew our MH and Toad registration in Texas via mail or online? Do we have to submit proof of vehicle inspection? We will lik...
So if you have your 5er almost loaded except for the last minute stuff and you still have empty drawers, empty cabinets and/or shelves and the cabinets are not totally stuffed to bulging....are ya doin' okay?
We found a motorhome we really like and good (and picky) friends have checked it out for us. My husband is going to make an offer on it - but we've got one concern . . . .it's in another state. Our friends are planning on delivering it to us here where we live. Now - do we pay sales tax where the motorhome is o...
At least I hope it's only a hiccup. You may have seen our earlier post that we sold our S&B in 5 days!! The OMG OMG OMG post! We were supposed to close on June 4th, but the reviewer at the bank didn't like the comp houses the appraiser used, so have to wait for another appraiser to get one done. The buye...
Hi again Howard, I seem to be the only one bothering you here with questions. This time I'm wondering about Voltage protection verses Voltage regulation. I posted a question to the tech area of the blog and the answers are a bit confusing. In doing the research for full timing, I've determined,...
I have bought a 1995 Fleetwood Wilderness. They had replaced the refrigerator with an all electric, which is fine with me. There is a large roof vent directly over the back of the refrigerator. I was wondering if there would be any harm in blocking this opening?
This is a site I started earlier this year while we prepared to full-time. Well, four days from now we will be officially in our 5er. I invite you to visit Phoenix Once Again
Question for those of you with more towing experience than me: What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a tow dollie vs towing your toad on all four wheels? Ken
I just came across this forum today and am happy I did! My husband and my story might be a little different then most full timers. Our journey began in 2003 when Steve lost his job. He looked for work for several months and then made a life altering decision. So with no job, good credit and a spirit of advent...
I posted on our blog the other day a draft of our proposed fulltiming budget. One line item I included was a $25/month allowance for hair care. I figure Marti can cut my hair, she's done it for years, but she gets her hair done at her favorite salon. Marti looked at my proposal and she nearly had a cow. I'...
Just found this site and have been on it all weekend. My wife and I will be retiring next year and hitting the road. Maybe some of you out there can help us make a decision. We have been RVing for close to 30 years, weekends and vacations. We are currently without an rv, but getting ready to buy once again. BI...
Tuttle Creek State Park just outside of Manhattan, KS will be opening a new entrance gate to camping and is looking for someone to work all day Saturday and all day Sunday in the entrance gate hut collecting fees and answering questions. Can't trade for site, but you can earn more than enough to pay the $...
In following the topic begun by postalpair about their difficult experience with a park's pet rules, it seems clear that there are a lot of questions that need to be asked before one chooses a campground including as raceguy aptly noted, what is the real length and width of a "huge", &quo...
