Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Yikes! We just had a couple of black flies come up out of the black tank while flushing. We got those two but I am guessing there are probably more. Any ideas how to get rid of them?
Right now we have a kitty litter box (no kitty) that we use to put our shoes in when we enter the 5er. It sits right at the door. We walk barefoot or in stocking feet in the rig. No outdoor shoes allowed! Looking for ideas! What do you do with your shoes? Cheers!
Tomorrow we may be closing on a '99 Bounder 39' diesel pusher w/ one slide and 26,000. Would like to get one newer, higher end, w/ more slides; but after many months of consideration and reading LOTS of RV-Dreams.com Forum threads, we decided this is the most prudent move for us. Have also read all the p...
George & I started a blog as well. We have two years to go, but wanted a visual diary of our journey. Feel free to take a look :) http://www.owensontheroad.blogspot.com/
As many of you know, we had a "mishap" with our fifthwheel back on May 15 in Texas. The dealer in Texas did temp repairs thus allowing us to live in it as we are fulltimers. Since we had planned on spending three weeks in this area during June, we brought it back to NJ to be repaired at the deale...
Howdy Everyone! Sorry it has been awhile since my last post, but things have been very busy the past few weeks as we prepare to head for Texas from Washington. So here is a good one... Before we take the RV away from Washington and on to Texas we took the coach back to the dealer for a few tune up items. One of t...
I've read blogs about this area, but can't remember who's blog or what they said about the road. I was just on the road from Blue Mesa to Lake City but went over Cinnamon Pass to Silverton (without the MH). Now I need to head back east and want to see different scenery. The road is probably just fine, but I'd...
Fellow RVers, I find that I am in need of a new 12V battery for the trailer. It has been a long time since I have purchased one and was wondering what brands (interstate, die hard, and etc) of batteries you have had good performance with lately. I just would like to make sure I spend my dollars wisely. Tha...
I went to camping World today and bought four new sizzor type stabilizers and replaced my OEM light duty units. It took only about one hour and a half to complet the job. The defference in the movement of the TT is unbelievable. I can walk through the TT without the blinds moving. The TT is an 03 Jayco Kiwi T...
A week into full-timing and here's what we've got regarding fine-tuning our rig. * Leak at base of kitchen faucet. * Landing gear inline fuse blowing. Has happened on at least 3 occasions we remember. * Black tank valve will not close all the way. * Seal on big slide is sliced due to hitting rough ed...
Black tank is 2/3 full. Tried to dump. Nothing coming out. Valve will not close completely. Embarrassingly, "something" must be stuck in the line at the valve...? Can we attempt to back flush (hook up hose to flush valve in control panel) and see if that gets things moving? Any quick...
We are in McMinnville,Oregon until August 21st at Olde Stone Village next to the Evergreen Aviation Museum. We will be in site 229 until July 21st then must move to 237.Come by for a visit if you like.
The next couple of months of our trip around the US with our kids will be doing a fast track tour of the northeast. We've browsed through the various 'must see' lists and have made some notes. Please share any suggestions for sights and campgrounds (big rig) in these areas and if you have blogged about yo...
hello rvs. we first started out with a class A ,then traded for a 26ft fifth wheel. 4wks ago we were t-boned and totaled both the truck and 5th wheel. that shattered our plans for this fall. we were planning a trip from Ia (home) out west . now we are thinking that maybe a popup trailed just to sl;eep in woul...
Well, we finally bought our motorhome and should be in it and on the road first part of July. We are finalizing the paperwork, and our loan funds in about 5 days. With the holiday, we are not sure whether we will be in our 2004 Tiffin Phaeton by next Tuesday or a few days after that. With that said, we are n...
After planning, discussing, researching and more planning, we are finally retired and began our RV full-time life on June 1, 2010. We couldn't be more happy. One of our main sources of information was found on RV Dreams and it helped us tremendously. Our travels are documented on www.DrivingMis...
Arrived here at the RV park Thursday afternoon, our first as full-timers. Our Montana has a rear kitchen with an A/C unit over that area. The second A/C is in the bedroom. Both have "dump" vents to blow air directly down and, when closed, the air blows through the ducting system. I belie...
We will be staying for the months of July and August at the Chula Vista Marina & RV Resort near San Diego, CA. At least my DW will be staying there. I will be visiting her and the 5th wheel on the weekends. Something just isn't right.... I'm the one that wants to fulltime ! She gets all of the fun. If yo...
Can anyone help? We are traveling in our 35 ft RV to Anapolis, MD then to Providence RI, to see family. We then hope to see Niagra Falls and then head south in the general direction of our home in Fl. We have 2 kids 13 and 16, our total trip time is 2 wks. The kids love the mountains. Do you have any favorite site...
My wife and I are trying to decide if we want a truck or a small tow-a-long camper. Dos you have any idea which one will give us the best gas mileage? Lets say we compare a truck camper with the weight of 1900 lb. (like an Palomino) and a 20’ Starcraft at 4900 lb. Truck is a full size Dodge with 4.7 V-8. Thank you...
We just finished installing four 100 watt solar panels, controller, gauge and fuse box on our motorhome. I did detailed step by step photos on my blog in two posts: solar installation part one solar installation part two Also, if you go to the links on the right side of my blog, there are other modifcat...
We are leaving, July 1, for an extended cruise, abt 4-5 months. I understand that most parks and St. National and private frown on washing the RV. How does one keep it clean? Should I haul hose, long handle brushes, nozzle and the like, if so where may they be used? Thanks, CCC
We are in final prepartaiton to leave on thursday for an extended trip, plan to return in November. I am not a cook but THE WIFE is, what is the consensus on whether or not to take an electric fry pan? Would one use it often enough to take it? We have been traveling on our boat and did not use it as we anchored o...
The $127.00 dumb mistakeLike most people, I have a hard time admitting a dumb mistake, but in this case I might helps someone else avoid making the same mistake. Had the error not been discovered, the price tag would eventually been a much higher. Two weeks ago we had the periodic service done on our...
We are now in Blain, Wa. getting ready to head into Canada on our way to Alaska. We have heard pros & cons about Hwy 37 (Cassier). Has anyone traveled it in the last year? How was the road condition & was it worth the trip. The Milepost says it cuts off 130 miles from going all the way up 97.
