Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hubby and I looked at this 5th wheel and really liked it. It's small, but nice decor and layout and it's clean!
Looked at a 35 ft. Sandpiper bunkhouse 5er also......NOT clean and outside was dripped dirty and mildewed.....
why don't people who have something to sell....clean it up first and remove all the junk in the camper so a prospective buyer can see the couch among other important things......and oh, yes, empty the nasty trash in the bathroom........just saying.....
Anyway, any comments from anyone out there about this "little" 5th wheel.....we are wanting to try out some extended trips in a "beginner" 5er!! Is this a good brand...well built?
We purchased a used 2007 Keystone Copper Canyon 252 in June of this year. The overall length is 27 feet so I'm wondering if this is the same unit you're looking at. We are retiring this summer and want to have the opportunity to travel but weren't sure if we wanted to go with a MH or a 5er........thus our decision to go with someting we could sell or trade without losing a fortune if we decided we wanted to change. We spend our winters in Cozumel, MX so we won't ever be more than "part time/full timers".
We're on our "maiden voyage" and are parked at our daughter's cabin in WI. I'm loving this 5er. The layout is roomy and comfortable for two people. It's cool here in the morning so we turn the furnace on when we first get up just to warm things up a bit, and it works very well. So far I'm impressed with every feature. With that being said, it's also important to remember "you get what you pay for" so attitude is a very important component in how happy some one will be in this 5er. This is not a top of the line model, so it doesn't have a top of the line price (we paid $16,500) which means it doesn't have top of the line amenities, like corian counter tops. It does have a Dometic fridg, Magic Chef stove and Sylvania microwave. The lights and outlets seem to be in just the right places. There's a lot of storage. Ours has the dinette vs a table with chairs, which I like because of the storage underneath the bench seats. In a bigger unit I'd prefer the table and chairs. Ours was gently used so the inside is clean and in nice condition. The mattress was changed out to a high quality pillow top. The other furniture is original. We will probably upgrade the rockers to recliners.
Towing: this is the first time we've towed a 5er, we've had MH's and towed boats, we've towed a tt and currently tow a 8,000 lb cabin cruiser twice a year and I have to say this is the easiest thing we've ever towed. It was almost like there was nothing back there! We have a GMC 2500 with an 8.1 L gas with an Allison transmission.
I would buy this 5er again............. is it the 5er of my dreams? No, but it was the 5er of my dream price.
Hope this helps. This is my first post after being a luker for three years!
Thank you Lynn...I think that is the very same unit. I really appreciate your remarks...the price on the one we are looking at is exactly what you paid. The owner did say it measures 27'. Doesn't sound very big but I found it to be roomy inside.
The one we are considering is also gently used and clean...an older couple has it and can't camp anymore because of health problems....(was told that was the best people to buy from)....no smoking, pets, or kids!
They too had upgraded the mattress (big plus in my book).
When we walked in it (after looking at some really "stinky" used" it was fresh looking and NO smells!
We have to buy a tow vehicle...looking at a F250 so thanks for the towing info.
We too, want to take extended trips and were looking for something not too expensive to get first....then if really liked it in 3 or 4 years we can trade up.
