Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all! I've got plans of being a full timer when I retire so I bought 31' 2001 Winnebago Adventurer for really cheap. My wife and I plan to get used to traveling with this and may upgrade when the day comes. So I have plenty of time to iron the bugs out of living in an RV and I hope to learn a lot from all the pros h...
Hi. We are Robert and Cheryl Welsh, along with Abby, Rocky and Remy (3 Cairn Terriers). Have been full time RVing in our 32ft Lifestyle 5th wheel for 2 years. After spending the last 5 months in Palm Springs, Calif., we are heading north. Looking at making our way to Florida next winter, with lots of...
My wife and I went to an RV show to kill some time ... our new 41 foot 2016 Durango Gold arrives the end of March ... go figure. We're retired and international travel became too oriented toward "risk management" with commercial transportation constantly targeted (and Americans in parti...
One of my biggest concerns about full timing is that I am diabetic. It is currently well controlled, my A1C ranges from 5.4 to 5.7. However, I have one major physical annually and a mini check up in between with blood tests at both (every 6 months). I have my eyes checked annually and dental cleaning ever...
My husband is concerned as the spin cycle on the washer shakes the rig. It doesn't seem any more violent than any other washer I've used, it's just this house is on jacks, not bolted down to a foundation. Load size has no effect. Same shake with towel or just a couple of bras. any thoughts?
Our new 5th wheel is going on the production line next week. Finally!!!! We just did a change order and added a Xantrex Freedom SW (true sinewave) 3000 Inverter Charger and four 6 volt 220 amp AGM Lifeline batteries - GPL-4CT. We will also have an 8K diesel generator. We have read about and been told t...
We are Robert and Lee Hyde. We currently live in Nw GA. Planning to sell out and upgrade the fifth wheel. The house goes on the market this summer. Lee retired in April '15, and I am a self-employed HVAC contractor.
We have narrowed the field to three brands of RVs. Luckily all were on Howard's list this w...
I found a Flagstaff V-Lite (30WFKSS) that I really like but I'm hesitant because: 1. It has a walkthrough bathroom (no separate potty room, just a walk through). Does anyone have this type of floorplan and do you like it? 2. It's a 50 amp. I'll be volunteering at a park that's only 30 amp. Will that ca...
Another thing I didn't know I didn't know.... I saw a thread on Facebook with differing opinions as to when you should level your rig -- before or after you put out the slides? The consensus seems to be before. We weren't told one way or the other and have been doing it after the slides are open. Is this w...
A year ago today was our first experience being towed and first major breakdown. Over the weekend I was working on updating some of the tracking / planning for this year and found I had to add a new category to my “places stayed” tracking list, RV Repair LotNope, not happy to have that one on there at all...
Just joined and wanted to self introduce to all. Always wanted to try RV's and had spend sometime on one when I was younger, never forgot the experience and the way one had to live planing each day. True pioneer sprite, which allows someone to be an adventure by one's own right. Hope to learn more allow...

Hi All, After taking nearly a year away, I'm returning here as our search for a full-time fifth wheel gets back into gear. My family and I (myself, wife, 3 daughters, and 1 Tibetan Mastiff) want to take our lives on the road and have been looking for quality 5ers that can accommodate our family (two bedr...
Hi all! My husband and I are retiring and plan to RV full time in June 2017. So much to do... sell stuff, sell house, buy truck, get RV, domicile, full time insurance etc. After 2 years of searching and 5 factory tours, countless dealers... we ordered a new Augusta Ambition! We asked that it be completed t...
My question: What are my rights? I know in my land based home and also on my boat, I cannot be invaded by the Coast Guard, DEC or the Police with out inviting them aboard, inside or having a warrant. I also know they are not allowed to inspect my car without my permission or having probable cause. I am drivin...
After reading several posts about the electric fireplaces in RVs and how nice they are at taking away the chill in the living, we decided to install one. Our 5th wheel came with a built in 3 drawer cabinet in the living room area. The cabinet holds the TV on top, a built in AM/FM stereo radio/tape player,...
Help! I'm new at reserving camp sites on reserveamerica and I know that it's getting close to the time to reserve dates to camp at Curry Hammock in the Florida keys. I'm going to attempt to reserve any site for a week beginners on 3/18/17. It says I have an 11 month window. Exactly what day and time shoul...
The wife (Sharlene) and I have been dreaming about “most-timing” for about 6 years. In 2005 we sold our home and purchased our first fifth wheel trailer while we were both still working. We quickly traded that one for a larger 2005 Jayco Designer 35 CLQS.After an accident (I fell out of a tree – it’s a l...
We are thinking of this RV resort for next winter and we were wondering if anyone has stayed here recently. We have looked at their website and the videos on youtube and the size might be of some concern to us. Also the amount of day use people that tend to use the park. We have seen a lot of party videos. -- Ed...
We are planning to travel into the main land of Mexico this winter. Our plans are to explore as much of Mexico as we can over 4 to 5 months. We've traveled extensively in Baja but this will be the first time in our motor home covering "Mexico". I would like some comments from anyone that has t...
I officially begin my FT RV Journey next Friday and want to be as prepared as possible but sometimes "stuff happens". So I've been looking into both AAA and Good Sam. Is one more suitable for FT RVing over the other? Would having both be overkill? Thanks in advance.
Has anyone taken cooking classes as you visited different areas of the country? I have a disability that hinders me from doing a lot of outdoor activities so I thought this would be a great way to experience local culture. If you have done this how do you find the classes?
Moving on with the dream. We just bought a 2005 Monaco Cheetah Safari and will try traveling (2-3 weeks at a time) with 2 felines. Where have others found room to place the kitty litter box in the RV? Thank you in advance with your ideas 👊🏻
I have a 32 foot Mh with 2 slides on one side seems like when I use my automatic leveling system the side with silides is always lower. Can or should I move slides out first and then level or do I have to try to level first any answers will be appreciated
Finally leaving Asheville after 8 months. Next assignment brings us to Bismarck from May to Sept. Looking at google maps, there are basically just 2 routes: first is I75 to 64 to 65 to 90 to 94. Lots of construction along the route. The other way starts off the same but after 65 puts us on I74 until we pic...
Ok I did a search and found some info that dates back about 8-9 years ago. Plus it spoke about dollars and not actual kilowatts used. What I would like to know for those that are full timing and paying the electrical seperately is how many kilowatts are you using (I realize everyone is a little different,...
Does anyone have a brand/model of bicycle cover (for two bikes) that they are happy with? It would have to cover two fairly standard adult-size bikes with "comfort" style handle bars while mounted in a receiver-mounted bike rack on the back of a fifth wheel.
