Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all! My husband and I are retiring and plan to RV full time in June 2017. So much to do... sell stuff, sell house, buy truck, get RV, domicile, full time insurance etc. After 2 years of searching and 5 factory tours, countless dealers... we ordered a new Augusta Ambition! We asked that it be completed this coming fall. Now we need a truck! We are reading everything we can get our hands on as we explore this new lifestyle. We used to camp in tents but never a trailer, never pulled anything bigger than a 22 foot sailboat. We are VERY new to all this. But, we want an adventure. We want to get out of our comfortable life and shake things up a bit! There is so much to see in North America and we plan to see as much as possible. We are doing this a little earlier than the usual 65 because we are in good health and we are able to do most anything right now! Our bucket list includes Newfoundland, kayaking with icebergs, salmon fishing, fly fishing, hiking in the southwest, Alaska, whales, puffins and the list goes on and on!! We also look forward to meeting all the friendly folks who are also doing this and hope to gain some valuable information along the way! So, that's us! Kathie and Tom
Welcome Kathie and Tom. The folks on this forum are friendly, knowledgeable and more than willing to share their experiences. We have learned SO MUCH simply by reading their posts. Read and learn!! We hope to join you in the class of 2017 (we are also <65 and in good health). I think Alaska is the most beautiful place on earth and look forward to spending months at a time up there soon. See you on the road - maybe the Alcan, Top of the World, Dempster or maybe even the Haul Road!!!
We've been working at downsizing for almost a year now. About 9 months ago we got into researching the Full Time RV lifestyle. It has absolutely amazed us with the possibilities and the freedom it offers folks. I am retired and my wife is about 6 years from early retirement so this would be a huge lifestyle change for us both, giving us the ability to really not let life pass us by. There is so much we want to see and do and so little time to do it all....so if not now when? We have the house on the market (last week) and have been selling off "stuff" for a few months now. The Rally has been our drop dead date.....we are 99.9% decided on doing it instead of just going to a smaller, warmer, sticks and bricks...We've said right along that after the Rally, we will make the final decision, and we are so looking forward to it. We are renting an RV to try a taste of the lifestyle, driving from Upstate NY to TN for the Rally. Looking forward to meeting new folks and learning all that we can about the adventures and advice from so many lucky full time RVers Our bucket list is growing every day and includes many of the places mentioned by others as well as reconnecting with some wonderful people we've met along the way but haven't seen for years or decades. Can't wait! T n Deb Lewis
Welcome to the forum.!
Would recommend you start s To DO and To Visit list for each area you would like to visit/experience. One of my fav's in Newfoundland was Signal Hill National Historic Park and the Signal Hill Tattoo!!! (reenactment British and French soldiers). Would have missed that without our list. Same with "secret" fishing spots from around the campground fires after a few 6 packs had disappeared! LOL!
Congrats on your new Augusta Ambition!
