Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Washer shakes the rig

My husband is concerned as the spin cycle on the washer shakes the rig.  It doesn't seem any more violent than any other washer I've used, it's just this house is on jacks, not bolted down to a foundation.  Load size has no effect.  Same shake with towel or just a couple of bras.

any thoughts?

Let me be more specific. Does your washer shake your rig, and is it a front loader, individual machine?

Yes our Whirlpool front load washer shakes the HE!! out of our rig when it goes into warp speed. Nothing to be concerned about.

We have the Spendide front loading stacking washer dryer and it shakes our rig too. We also previously had a Kenmore stacking unit that a was a top load washer with a front load dryer on top. It also caused the rig to shake. I think it's just the nature of the beast. I haven't noticed any ill effects to date.

Our Splendide 2-piece front loader stackable shook violently, drove me out of my ever-lovin mind!  DH checked to make sure no cords or hoses were caught underneath or stuck behind the W/D in the drip pan. He pushed the units toward the back of the drip pan, and made sure the strap at the top of the dryer which attaches the dryer to the wall is not tight. It needs a little flexibility to move. It should not be tight. Totally solved our problem! I hope this helps.

Just use it while driving on California roads. You won't notice it.

LOL, Mark, lotta roads all over the country like that.

Mine's a Whirlpool, and I don't have a husband that pulls things out to check them. Heavens knows I wouldn't. The washer is bolted to the floor of the cabinet (I will LOOK at things), so I imagine we are stuck with the shaking.

Thanks all for your help.

Every time I have visited with someone doing their laundry in their rig, it shook during the spin cycle.  So I am pretty sure it is normal.

Yep, ours shakes the rig too. Ours is in a slide though so I think that exaggerates it even more.

There is"normal" shaking, and there is shaking that sounds and feels like a rocketship preparing for launch... as though the drum was going to break loose and make a lightning-speed exit right through the wall.  Our shaking felt like the latter; hence, our resolution as noted above. You WILL know the difference!

Totally normal.  When I did the 1st load of laundry in the rig, it totally freaked me out.  Now I barely notice it.  smile

Just hold on and enjoy the ride....ours shakes the 5th wheel as well. More of a rocking motion.

It's a top loading whirlpool stackable.

It's especially fun when you have 3 or 4 pairs of Levis in the wash.

We've had it for 20 plus years with no problem.

We've had two different washing machine brands in our DRV, with them being located in the bedroom slide.  With both the Whirlpool and now the LG, they do shake, although the LG is a bit less than the Whirlpool.  The only real issue with the LG is that it is big enough that we can't close the cabinet doors like we could with the Whirlpool washer.

I have a Maytag Washer and Sears Dryer, I installed the Steady Fast Stabilizers on my landing gear and reduced the shake in my 5th Wheel about 90%

My washer (Splendide) always shakes the house and hasn't been an issue so far. As a side note other more fun activities can also shake the house and "doing laundry" can be a great cover :)

Just saying lol

Guess we have something wrong, ours doesn't shake the whole rig. Our Splendide is located midships and during the spin cycle we will get a small vibration during the very high speed spin, unless I don't have it loaded correctly. I'm very conscious of the '2' factor when loading. Two pair of jeans, plus 2 or 4 t-shirts, or two bath towels and two hand towerls, etc. Only hard shaking I've ever had was when I had odd numbers of heavier items. In general, I start it and we do realize it is going - which is why I've used a timer if I want to get something out right away when it's finished to hang up because we just don't hear/fell it running.
