Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
One of the RV dealerships told us about some fencing that collapses, so that we would have a little yard for the pups to play in without being on leash. Anyone know about these?
Hi Everyone, I have been 20 years in wannabee and it looks like the Dream is going to happen soon. So many times almost there..then a boulder would appear. Mostly I didn't have anyone that believed in the dream. I have been solo for 7yrs. now. I just finished a 5300mi trip across the country in my SUV and wi...
For those of you that own MH's, have any of you used the FMCA Michelin tire program? I need 4 tires for the rear of my rig and of course trying to find the best price. The price I'm being quoted for 275/70R 22.5 load range J is $490.00 per tire plus tax and install. If anyone knows of a better program....I'm a...
Hi folks. First, some exciting news. My Mom and Dad are now onboard with my RV Dream! They're interested in buying a used RV some time this year. The first thing I want to do is make a list of features that we need and ones we'd like to have, so we can determine a few models that might work for us. For example,...
Hello everyone! I'm (Steve) excited to get on here finally as a member of this community, instead of being just a lurker. There is so much I have already learned from forums like this, but there is a lot more I need and want to learn on the road to my (our) final decision to become fulltimers. My wife (Sandy...
Hi All, since you have never failed to answer my questions and I know there must be other Iowa RVers out there, I'm hopeful in getting an informed and quick answer. A co-worker has told me that I will be required, as an Iowa resident, that when we purchase our 5er and dually that I will be required to have a C...
It began with carpool lanes. I would sit on the highway near a major city and watch the cars in the car pool lane whizzing by. The problem is that eventually even the car pool lane gets bunched up. So why don't they just open the lane up to anyone and let us all get there just a little bit faster. Now the ba...
We're planning a trip from Southern Calif. to Wash. state. We plan on making the trip all the way up via US 101. What is the best way to get thru the bay area? Been up the 101 many times but don't want to take my rig thru downtown SF Via the 101. Not sure if the 680 or the 580 would be better or possibly another rou...
Has anyone who has purchased a new unit (TT, 5er, MH, whatever) asked for manufacturer drawings? For my eventual 5er, I want to know where structural ribs are, electrical line drawings, plumbing, cabinet mountings, etc. I presume that a new RV will come with the user's manuals for all on-board equi...
Our 5th Wheel has an Apollo 1/2 time microwave/convection oven installed over the stove. Last night Rudee had set out some leftovers to reheat and wrapped some potatoes to bake. We both were working here in the campground until 8pm so during my rounds escorting, delivering firewood etc. I was suppos...
Hi I need to buy a quality invertor for co-pilot's laptop (cigarette lighter type). Probably pure sine wave is what I'm thinking. The prices I see on Amazon are all over the board, and I'd like a recommendation if anyone has a unit they like. Thanks!
Wanted to do a quick survey on portable genset sizing; searching the archives it looks like a mix of 2000 and 3000 watt sizes are used. Connie and I are getting a residential fridge installed along with AGM batteries and the large inverter. We aren't getting a built in genset since it won't get used too m...
When I slide my kitchen out, the top doesn't tilt back into place. I have to climb onto the counter and push the top back while somebody else runs the slide. Any ideas how to fix or adjust this?
Hello Folks , planning a Spring trip to Disney and will be travelling with the entire family , pets as well. We would like to stay as close to the beach as possible as this is more of an adult family with young children. I would think 2 days at the park and about 5 days at the beach / local sites. We are travell...
We are Brad and Nancy from Kansas. We have looked forward to going full time and are now realizing the dream.. It is a new chapter for us and we have been going through all the tensions involved with selling a home and getting rid of our stuff. Our grown kids have been supportive and I am looking to buy a m...
In January we got a Groupon ad for a Garmin GPS that seemed like a really great deal. We ordered the deal on 24 January. As of today we don't have the GPS. Groupon repeatedly lied to us and eventually to the company that is actually sending the GPS. A unit finally shipped yesterday - to the wrong address! We...
We are getting into the nitty-gritty of selling stuff. Went thru all our old papers last night to clean out and decide what I want to put in our small Firesafe for in the camper. My gosh...I cannot believe I kept almost every birthday card, and anniversary card I ever got! It felt weird throwing them aw...
What a hectic day today was but it was all worth it. Our house closing was this morning at 10:00 and by 10:15 it was all over with and we had a check in our hands! The buyers were paying cash so it was an easy transaction. The rest of the day was spent getting all our other ducks in a row - changing our official d...
Hi all, I am in the market for my first RV, I found one in Deland, FL and need to get it inspected. It's owned by a private party. I am from out of town (way way out, like Seattle), so I need someone who can do a good inspection without me watching over the process. Is it possible to find someone who can check bot...
Just wanted to say hello sense I have been lurking for a while. My wife, Gale and I have been using this site for months to learn and try to decide if full timing was for us. Well in 4-months time we have signed up for the spring rally bought a MH and will head out sometime this year. Thanks to all who contribut...
Does anyone have any recommendations for camping in the Tempe Arizonia area. DW and myself will be going there and was looking around for a nice resonable priced campground where we can bring our grandkids.
We are travelling from Flagstaff to Glenwood Springs, Co to visit our son. I've not travelled this area before and want to avoid any area's where extreme grades or hair pin curves might be an issue. Initially I was going up 89N (stay at the KOA in Moab,UT) to US-160 to US-191 to 70 but there looks to be some...
Millenicom's advanced plan (Verizon 3G 20 GB/month) disappeared from their website a few days ago. Upon asking, they said they had a few plans left to sell, so I bought one of them. I thought I share that because the Advanced Plan used to be pretty popular.
Hello Everyone, Figured it was time to say something and quit lurking! My name is Lela and my husband is David. I first found this web-site about a year ago when we were putting our house on the market. You see it's like this..... We have been married for 25 years, David has over 30 years as a Firefight...
