Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi Everyone, I have been 20 years in wannabee and it looks like the Dream is going to happen soon. So many times almost there..then a boulder would appear. Mostly I didn't have anyone that believed in the dream. I have been solo for 7yrs. now. I just finished a 5300mi trip across the country in my SUV and with each mile I wished for that to be an RV. I love this site, I have learned a great deal especially budget. If there was a question I have: I have some physical challenges and would love the input from other Rvers how they handle that. I have medical insurance and I am mobile. I am looking for a Class C or Class B as it will be easier for me to handle. I do not choose to have a toad. Any info regarding fulltiming and working with my disabilities would much be appreciated. I have wondered why so many people quit when they have health issues.. Lifting and bending are probably most difficult task..I plan to have roadside coverage as I do with my car for tire changing etc. Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated..By the way I was told by one RV seller than Disabled people should not be rvers..how insulting...I plan to prove him wrong of course he did not know I was disabled..

Although I can't be much help on the disability issue I'm sure some others will chime in. I would pay no attention to the RV salesman and certainly would not go back to that individual. They are plenty of folks that won't let a disability stop them from living their dream.
If Rving is what you want do don't listen to the negative folks in this world and follow your dreams.
Thank you so much..I was disapointed to hear a salesman say that. I know I have read before a quadraplegic that rv fulltime with his dog in a Class A. I haven't let it stop me..my last tent camp was two years ago tough but worth the price..I am just ready to see more and enjoy while I can. I have tented, pop-up camped(to Alaska after 3bck surgeries) Truck camped and now I am ready for what is next. I am narrowing it down to either a Class C(like Winnebago Access 24ft) for possible a Rialta but think more the Class C.. Which another question comes to mind. Are Class C insulated whatsoever I have not seen that mentioned at all online..Again thank you I hope to be on the road full time by fall that is my goal...and I am stickin to it!

Welcome to the forums at RV Dreams. It is the place to find information from knowledgeable folks that are also friendly and helpful. Feel free to ask questions and make comments here as we all learn from them. Even your discoveries of how to overcome a disability may be helpful to others here.
As for insulation in Class C RV's, I'm pretty sure that some will have the option of an extra insulation package available for them. A forum participant by the name of RVPAINTER has just purchased a Nexus Class C, and if I remember right, he said he was ordering the extra insulation. I would imagine that he, as well as others, can better help you with the Class C issues than I could.
When reading forums, check down in the signature area of the postings and you will find the brand of RV's that are owned by the participants. Those that you recognize as Class C brand owners will likely be able to provide a lot of information.
Good luck with the searching and planning.
Terry

Hi Everyone! I'm new the forum and this is my first post. My husband is also handicapped but that isn't slowing our plans down any. As soon as the economy looks better for selling our house, hopefully within a year or so, we are selling everything and buying a Class A and hitting the road. Neither one of us has ever travelled in a RV so are probably crazy to even think about it, but I love to travel and doing so in a RV so my husband has easy access to what he needs on the road without checking in and out of motels seems like the much better option. Jumping right in the deep end!!!
I have Googled "handicap RVs" and found a lot of info and several dealers who will customize/adapt the RV you already have or build one from scratch. I'm reading through the sites now to educate myself. After wandering around the internet, it sure looks like there are plenty of handicapped RVers out there.
I'm looking forward to receiving all the advice you can send my way!!

Planning to be Full-Timing in 2013 with Doggie Children Daisy Mae, Molly and King Henry of FooFoo!
Hi, I read your Post about you and your husband, I think it is awesome that you have decided to do this. A few years ago there was an article about a man that was paralyized and was Rving with his dog living in a Class A. To me that was an inspiration if there was any. For me I haven't allowed my "challenges" to stop me. I live for each day and in saying that I have missed another day not being on the road. I have decided esp. with the new technology out there to go with a Arctic Fox Fifth wheel a 24NR. Just me and hopefully a dog I don't need alot of stuff or room. Just comforts. I plan to have automatic levelers and an electric door step. I also noticed this could be made handicap easy in the future and that was one of my considerations. But then always have the choice to do a trade-in too. The wonderful thing about it is so many wonderful choices, as to climate, to friends, clubs etc. I am going to be 64 this year and I am always on the go regardless of my days..(Once in awhile I take a day off). There is a Handicapped Travel Club you may want to join they are out of Surpise AZ.. Hope to meet you on the road one day!
