Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
What a wonderful few days! We went Tuesday to Knoxville in our big Ram dually to pick up our Big Horn RV. We spent two nights on the RVs for Less dealership site. Their people were great teaching us so much about our RV including how to hook up to our truck, maneuver, and unhook. We then went to a campgro...
We will begin our fulltime adventure in about a year from now. I was wondering if anyone here fulltimes in a travel trailer. We have an 07 Jayco Eagle 322fks bought new 3/07. While it has been a great trouble free rig, and we have used it heavily, I realize it wasn't exactly constructed with fulltiming in...
I see posts wherein some have asked about routing from Point A to Point B. While reading and researching some have suggested that they would not even take an 18-wheeler on some routes. Are there maps and/or websites available that would help in planning our future travels? The last thing I ever wan...
Found an interesting security system - good price so I'm going to try it and then incorporate it into our RV once we get it.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=ma80355&N=0&InitialSearch=yesI get a lot of stuff from B&H photo&video and have never been disappointed. I...
Hi, This is my first time ever using a forum. My husband and I have been wanting to go full time RVing for a couple of years. I quit my job and he has been retired for some time. We have a for sale sign up, but I don't have a lot of hope that it will sale anytime soon in our area with this economy. This is my questio...
Hi. I'm Karen, from Indiana. My husband and I are seriously looking at buying a motorhome to live in and eventually be able to travel! Because of life situations we have found ourselves in I decided that full-timing it in a motorhome would be a step-up from where we are right now. I don't see us ever bein...
Well we are now officialy fulltimers. We have been staying in our camper on the weekends while we got the house cleaned out. We still have a few things to do with the house but we are now staying in the camper full time. We still have our jobs here and cant move around the country just yet. Were excited for ...
To all the great minds out there. Should we change our state of domicile before we purchase an RV? Wife will retire next April and we want to buy a DP in next few months. We live in Indiana and the taxes on a 5 year old MH is upwards of $10,000. That to us is outrageous. It's no wonder folks look for places to...
There are many compelling conversations to be had about Howard and Linda’s impact to the RV world and especially to the RV Dreams family. We all can play the individual adaptations in our minds. The bottom line is our family member is in need. The numbers are easy, if 20 of us contribute $1,000 or if 2...
We are planning our trip from Indianapolis IN to the fall RV Dreams rally in Harrisburg OR. This will be our first time traveling through the Rocky Mountains puling a 5th wheel, so we are a little apprehensive about it. We want to take a route that is not to challenging the first time. We are not plann...
I am having a hard time deciding between the 380x Explorer and the 385 FastTrack kayaks. Does anyone have experience with either or both? We hope to spend most of our time in the western states. We won't do any extreme white water, but I like the capacity of the Explorer. Howard and Linda talked about a 4 d...
Sorry. Didn't mean to start out like an AA meeting. Our 'plans' are to start fulltiming in the summer of 15. I found this website when I Googled "Ten best fifth wheel RV's". Since then, this site has been like a good book...hard to put down. Our camping experience so far has been limited t...
We have a travel trailer. The trailer plug, that plugs into my van has a terminal wired to the house battery. What is the purpose of this connection to the house battery? Why would I want the house battery connected to my van? Now my van does not come with a factory installed trailer package. As a result I...
Well, not actually homeless since we have the rig…but we are sticks and bricks-less. Closed yesterday afternoon and are working hard this weekend getting the last stuff loaded in the rig (on the hottest 3 days of the year, 104 here in Fairfax today). We head out on our adventures Monday but will be in th...
I've been using Blogger, but I've noticed some of the ones I follow switching over to WordPress from blogger. From what I read on blogs and in the news, Google (the source for Blogger) wants to do more and more with "mining" people's information. So, I'm looking into WordPress since it say...
I'm in the design phase of battery sizing, solar etc and got an interesting email from a Lifeline distributor. Some of the items are user controllable and others are design and equipment. Any comments / observations?Lifeline forwarded your inquiry to me for response. (We are a Master Distribut...
We need to get our next tow vehicle before our toyhauler. My current truck is not rated for the weight. I was looking at the GMC 3500 but the new trucks are almost 5 inches higher at the tailgate. I have read where people are having trouble pulling shorter, lighter fifthwheels with the new beds. I looked...
My wife and I have full timed for a little over 3 years. It has it's ups and downs but overall I wish we had done this years ago. We just started our first Camp Host job for the summer at Crater Lake RV Park located in Prospect, OR. Looking forward to finding to the next gig hopefully in SoCal to be near our kids...
I am freaking out a little bit which I didn't think I would do. We have a 3 year plan and my hubby wants to cut it down to 1 yr. I am in no way prepared for this. The house needs to have a lot of work done to it and we need to clear out the clutter. I am doing a little bit at a time but working two jobs is not easy. I didn...
My wife, Jackie Ogden, and I are looking forward to her retirement and full-time RVing. We are starting the search for our new home and, as you can all imagine, we're overwhelmed with the choices that have to be made. I look forward to picking all your brains and benefiting from the wealth of experien...
Just wanted to say hello. We are long time RVers but are new to this site. We are a longs ways from full timing with a 7 year old, but we can all dream. This is a great site. Thanks to all who keep it going. -- Edited by Ark235b on Saturday 7th of July 2012 01:01:55 PM
Hi Everyone! DH & I made our decision a couple of months ago to begin fulltiming (and workamping) and have since been putting it into motion. We bought a TT a couple of years ago, and have been having a great time camping and enjoying it (we call her our Baby, knowing we will progress to a 5er). Before...
This is the first forum we have ever joined, so be patent with us as we stumble around. Right now we live in Wa and have a marine electronics business that takes up all of our time, but plan on putting our house on the market later this month. (have to finish painting and mucking out some junk )As soon a...
Hi Newbie here! We've been living full time for 6 months now and have been making our motorhome more homey, more "us." We have a 1995 Winnebago Adventurer with the vinyl ceilings complete with the little rosettes that keep the vinyl in place. I absolutely detest out ceiling. It reminds me o...
Any comments on a HD conversion as a TV? We are looking at a FW 19000lbs loaded plus a small car. I have read several posts here that talk about towing capacity but stoplng ability is not really mentioned. I have no experience towing a FW yet but have towed my boat on a tri axle trailer 16000lbs with a one ton...
WE are interested in positions that offer an hourly wage. Our interest in the summer of 2014 will be Ny, MA, NH, or Maine. I realize this period of time is a long ways off but from what I hear its best to get your ducks in a row early. So Sometime in the Spring of 2013 we will start sending out resume's. But...
We are looking at the possibility of Working at Stone Mountain outside of Atlanta in the summer of 2015. Yeah I know - a long way's off - Has anyone worked there? How were you treated? You sometimes here horror stories at various campground.
