Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Truck Fund - Help Needed!

There are many compelling conversations to be had about Howard and Linda’s impact to the RV world and especially to the RV Dreams family.  We all can play the individual adaptations in our minds.

The bottom line is our family member is in needashamed.  The numbers are easy, if 20 of us contribute $1,000 or if 200 of us contribute $100, etc. our family problem is solved.

Got to http://www.rv-dreams.com/support.html and make it happen!  The current fund is at $329.03, let’s make it read $20,329.03.  Help if you cansmile.

Interestingly it shows form for checkbook but CC. Will be home to

Wow!  We love all the support from all of you.  Keep those encourageing emails and comments coming.

Please don't feel you need to send monetary donations.  We have the money in savings so we are not in dire need.  Yes, it is a huge chunk of money that we don't want to have to dish out, but we will and we'll be okay.

You all are a great family and we love you!!!!biggrin

I feel like Howard and Linda have given us a world of knowledge, support, friendship, encouragement.........now it is our chance to help them!  I am sooo grateful for everything you, Howard and Linda, have done for me!!!!  I just ask for those who can to help financially to do so, and those who can't pray!!!  God listens!  When a member of our RV family calls!  We pull in rank, and help, however we can!  Safe travels!!!  Peace and Love....Fran Wharton

I think Howard and Linda deserve all the help we can give them. If it were me I would seriously consider if I would put that much money into a truck, replace the engine with one that has a history of problems. I had a 2005 Ford F250, when it turned 75,000 miles I sold it and bought something else, I had several of the issues that have become common on the 6.0. Just something to think about, that is a lot of money to sink into a engine that has it's flaws.

I agree with this.  The new engine will immediately, upon installation, share the same age depreciation as the rest of the truck even though it will have zero miles.  Re-sale value will not increase due to new engine and could be less.  On the other hand, what is their truck worth the way it is today as a trade-in?

Wow.  This is a tough one to swallow.  Good luck to Howard and Linda.  They will make the right decision for them.

My Philosophy of Subscribing.

I have a subscription to a magazine called Family Handyman.  It is entertaining, educational, and helps people become more self-sufficient.  I have been told that me reading Family Handyman is like Jesus reading the Bible.  I think that is sacreligious and mostly untrue....but that's another story.

As I mentioned before, I stumbled upon this forum when I Googled "Ten best fifth wheel RV's".  Until recently, I didn't even know there was the website 'RV-Dreams' because I saved the link to my favorites and when I clicked on it, I automatically went to the forum.

My point.  I realized I'm getting invaluable insight, information, and education from this forum and Howard and Linda's website.  All of the contributors to the forum are what Family Handyman calls 'Field Editors'--- subscribers who are experts at what they do.  For all of this, I am happy to 'chip in' at least the equivalent of a magazine subscription.  I have other philosophies but this is enough for now.

Who else would do this?! Know that our donation wasn't that large but it just confirms how very gracious & thoughtful Linda & Howard are! Email received shortly after our donation to them.

"Wow!  We are so grateful for your generous donation.  We rarely get an amount of that size so it is our practise to double check to make sure you didn't make a mistake and add one too many zeros.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if that is the case.  We will immediately refund the donation.

Again, we are amazed that you consider us worthy of your hard earned money."

Amazing!
