Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi! We are newbies to the RV world! We're a family of 4 and are building a new home in Oklahoma. We are planning to buy a used Travel trailer to live in during the construction, about 9 or 10 months. We are building a barn also and will park the RV inside, which I think will help! We will have washer and d...
So this weekend I was pushed and had to re establish some boundaries at our summer seasonal site. This will be our second year in this beautiful CG. We always try to be friendly and polite with everyone, we occasionally attend a neighboring camp fire. That being said our primary purpose is to relax and s...
Reading another site, I found that RV manufactures are going out of business and no one is buying the RVs. This is pretty depressing since we just decided to go FT in two years, and have yet to buy. What say you!
Our plans as some here know included our three cats, now there will be two. Unfortunately I came home today and found BABY on the floor in heart failure, my wife came right home, we went straight to the vet, and the options where put her to sleep, or begin a long process of tests, scans, injections and a bun...

Just curious if anyone knew... We made our first RV trip last weekend to a lake close to our home. We met several really nice people including the RV Host and her husband. They have been living in their RV and have been the host of this particular state park area for 15 years!! I didn't want to ask her bec...
When driving a commercial truck through Iowa I notice the rest areas there have free wifi. Didn't see it anywhere else from Maine to Texas or anywhere else. Are hotspots common and where would they be at? If a business has wifi like a Mcdonalds or hotel would you be able to pick up their wifi? I haven't do...
Very exciting news today. We found a beautiful 5th wheel and put a deposit down on it. It's a 2007 KZ Escalade with a rear kitchen. We have read quite a bit about them and they seem very well made. We added a generator, additional fresh water holding tank, king sleep number mattress and a couple of oth...
Ok, first of all, I know you guys are probably wondering why I don't post these questions to some kind of Diesel Truck forum instead of here. The answer is those guys are trying to race and sport up their trucks and I'm trying to get the most pulling power for towing a load out of mine. I figure you guys her...
If you are traveling to this area, a great camp ground is SHADY OAKS.(Reasonable rates as well.) Neat. For the 4th had a band and free bar b q. Get this, on stopping at the office to ck in they said go on to your space and get set up and then come back after lunch! On THE WIFE's return to the office the owner told...
Me and my wife are planning on selling our houses and traveling and for me working since she is retired and I am not. We plan on buying a fifth wheel and probably a ford f350. I have been researching trucks and assume a 350 will be enough to pull the fifth wheel. I am looking for any feedback on the subject an...
Has anyone ever either camped or WK at Fun Valley Family Resort, South Fork CO. From what we have seen on pics it looks really nice. And my DW just reminded me that when we were traveling along Wolf Pass she saw this CG and wondered what it would be like and that was back in 91. Gawd what a memory.
Are there are certain qualifications or other training that might help in landing a workamping job in a National Park or Forest Campground? Also, what about privately owned campgrounds? Basically, just asking what makes an employer in these instances choose one person (or couple) over another. I...
We attended the Spring RV Dreams Rally in Kerrville TX. We learned a lot of great info and had Howard and Linda weight our Truck and Jayco Pinnacle 5th Wheel. We thought we were overloaded but did not realize how much untill we got the truck and trailer weighted. This past weekend we stopped by the GMC dea...
Okay here's a question for those of you have not saved a ton of money for retirement but still make it on the road. How do you save for retirement on the road and what is your exit strategy? What happens when you run out of money? or are close to it? The reason I'm asking this is my wife and I want to full-time...
I want more stopping power on steep grades. I was thinking of an exhaust brake but my mechanic is trying to talk me into a PPE programmer instead. He said it would provide a more aggressive tow haul mode and therefore use the trucks own engine brake. It's the $900 version but he is a family friend and is...
Well to start off I don't even know if we are RV'ers (lol) isn't that sad, I have been so obsessed with work and family life that this never crossed my mind. Last fall we decided to buy a waterfront lot, there is no power to the lake, no motor boats allowed but we love it. In order for us to afford our piece of p...
Ok, wanted nicer chair in my motorhome and so worked into my purchase a nice recliner to replace the chair that is next to the kitchen counter. Everyone loved the new chair, the only problem is that with both the slides in, the couch and chair touch. The RV is having other thing done to it right now and I hav...
Hi All, We just picked up our DRV Tradition a few weeks ago and just love it but the hot water is not hot enough. Is there a way to make it warmer or are they all about luke warm? Thanks rob
Did you, or do you know anyone, who removed the backseat in the tow vehicle to increase storage flexibility and/or reduce vehicle weight? Did you/they do anything special, other than possibly store the removed seat for potential future trade-in/resale of the tow vehicle? We decided that when we st...
Hey everyone.. just thought I'd share this post we recently made explaining all of the components we use for keeping connected to the internet as we roam full time. As we work online, keeping connected is essential for us. We rely on cellular data (and boosters) and WiFi hotspots, with satellite as a...
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Girard tank-less water heater or any other tank-less water heaters? pros and cons? It seems like it would be a good thing, less weight, endless hot water if hooked up to water, less fuel to run it. Thanks
