Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Let's see I only had the truck two days and I already have a question for you all. I am reading the owners manual for our new 2016 F-450 and it states: "On vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels retighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque at 100 miles and again at 500 miles of new vehicle operation...
I apologize and ask you to bear with me - this is a different topic based on some (very) recent developments. I have also posed the question on Escapees but there is not a 100% overlap in the readership. We have spent the last 18 months doing our homework in preparation for going full-time... plan to beco...
I want to quiet down the engine noise coming from the engine under the dog house in my Gas MH. Which would be better for that, Dynamat Sound deadner, Dynamat Hoodliner or spray on Lizard Skin?? I have a 2016 Bounder. Been on a few trips and love the MH but would like to quiet down the engine noise and also hea...
I am looking at full time RVing and am trying to figure out the true cost to doing a domicile in TX or South Dakota or even a state that has taxes. What is the best way to see the true cost of insurance (auto, health, RV) and vehicle taxes ect. Any suggestions on this info out there? I should also mention tha...

In this summer, during his holidays, we are planning to go to a trip with kids and looking to rent RV as well. however, this is the very first time when we are planning to hire an kind of recrea...
We are recent retired full timers and are debating whether to keep 2 vehicles or just keep 1.What do others do?So far, we mainly use only 1 vehicle. The cost savings are tempting, and we are thinking if there is an occasion where we need 2, we could rent or use a family vehicle when we are near them. We do kno...
In April we'll be visiting the Grand Canyon then hope to head north on Hwy 89 into southern UT. Trying to research the section of Hwy 64 that goes east from Grand Canyon Village to Hwy 89, wanting to make sure it's suitable for big rigs. Has anyone driven this, if so, any concerns, issues? Thanks
David and I retired at the end of February 2016 and are preparing to sell our sticks and bricks home and travel full time in our motorhome. David was a data analyst at a health care company in Toledo. I was the operations manager at a small company that marketed static control products. We have been marri...
Hello everyone. I am a military wife of 23 years and have loved every moment of it. My name is Kerri and my husband and I just purchased a 2003 Damon Escaper. We have owned 5th wheels in the past but this is our first Class A. We have decided, since we are about to be empty nesters, to take the plunge and liv...
I'm looking at a Thor A.C.E. 17.1 and the fridge is in the slideout. Does anyone have one of these and does that seem to be an issue? I'm wanting one of these motorhomes to live in full time but wasn't sure if that's the way to go since the slide will be out the majority of the time. Didn't know if the weigh...
The guys at www.tfltruck.com recently announced the gold hitch award for the Heavy Duty trucks and the winner is the Chevy 3500. They run the trucks up the Ike Gauntlet with a new rating system towing a goose-neck trailer 21,400 lbs. They work pretty hard to get the tongue weight right and keep withi...
I know I've seen topics like this before, but can't seem to find them. What tools do you use to plan your travel routes? I'm not really looking for "how to find a camp ground, etc." but looking more for tools that can help find the best route that can accommodate a large rig (e.g. avoiding low...
The VA sent me to an outside Pain Management Clinic; yesterday was my first appointment. The Dr. after checking me over decided that trying to manage the pain was more feasable. I was given three epidurol injections of lidocaine/steroid in the Right clavicle (shoulder) and the neck area as a trial t...
Today we began our adventure. Closed on the house yesterday, sold just about everything we owned and moved into our 2015 Newmar Ventana Motorhome. It's been a year and a half in the planning. Thanks to Howard and Linda for this resource and encouragement. We are former attendees of the RV Dreams 2015 S...
We're leaving Bushnell FL tomorrow (March 24th), and will be driving to Toledo OH. We came down on I65 thru Alabama, but we'd like to avoid interstates on our way home. We're looking at US Hwy 27 which goes over the mountains thru Chattanooga. Does anyone have experience with this route, or anyone have...
Hi all, So I am sure this has been covered in other posts but I just don't get it so please bear with me. Lee and I are having a running disagreement about whether to put up our whole house We Boost when we stop for a few days. In all fairness he's the one that sets it up and it is a pain, plus not great when it's...
Hi all, We continue with our researching and planning. We saw Hydra-lift has a Trike lift for 3 wheel motorcycles now. We're wondering if anyone has any experience with these or other systems for traveling with their Trike.
I was able to find the J2807 2012-05-17 revision that would apply to all vehicles 2013 through 2016 certification. There is a new revision 2016-02-04 that I was not able to find a free copy of and was not willing to pay $74.00 from SAE for the standard. I will limit this posting to HD Trucks & Fifth W...
What do you use and like to protect your fifth wheel from damage caused by stones/ rocks while driving? We have ordered an Arctic Fox 32-5M (GVWR 16,500) and a 2016 F-450 (GVWR 14,000), total combined GVWR 30,500. I have been getting conflicting information (even from the local drivers license office) in regards to an additional endorsement on my Florida DL. In general, any combination greater th...
The plastic screw on dust cover over the wheel of my DRV 5th Wheel broke off and I don't know why? Hesitant to travel without knowing why and the risk before it is fixed.
Yesterday our LR air conditioner stopped working. When we turn it on the fan works but it sounds like the air compressor tries to start but fails. We have owned the trailer for about 1.5 years and as far as we know, the AC is part of the original equipment so it would be nearly 10 years old. We don't know m...
In our research for another TT, we have decided that the Arctic Fox is the one that would fit us, but.... finding one even close to us is not an option, we are in Louisiana and see one in Houston at PPL. Just wondering if an 07 would be worth the drive to see? Thank you for all your help. Really enjoy these f...
