Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This has been my significant others dream for a long time, me. . . I'm new to it but open and excited about the idea! Truthfully I wasn't keen on the idea of being in cramped quarters for an undetermined length of time. But now as I read about it and I see how happy it would make her (and me the more I find out ab...
How about finances? Can a couple with a paid for rig live fulltime on $2,150 mthly for sure income? Does this sound resonable or should I expect it to cost more? I do plan to have other forms of income as well...but, this would be the only for sure income to make a budget from.
OK, here's a really dumb question... A lot of the RVer budgets I've seen have a grocery budget of around $400/month for two people. How the heck do you do it? Try as we might we don't seem to be able to keep it down that low. It seems to me that's one change we could start making right now before we ever hit the r...
Gina and I, first and foremost want to wish the whole RV-Dream’s family a Very Happy Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for all the men and women who had dreams and were willing to pursue those dreams in creating this country we call America. Whether you are with family, friends or just enjoying specia...
I will be leaving soon to begin fulltiming. There are so many issues to deal with, and I will just have to take them one by one. I will have to use my laptop computer for wi-fi access, where available. Does this mean I will be unable to access my bank account online for security reasons (or lack of securit...
No I don't want any frost on the ground, I'm leaving cold weather. Is central Florida a good place to be? I'm probably looking at $600.00 per month more or less. I would like to be around attractions that are fairly close. We are going to be in Florida in the first part of November. Do you recommend we...
At home we have a small safe in which we keep important documents. It is small but quite heavy. Will not be taking it when we fulltime. As we always try to keep in mind weight issues in the RV, we are looking for a safe that is flat and can be bolted under the bed but is also lightweight. We have looked at a fe...
The TV in the 5ver I am picking up this coming saturday is a Magnavox, and I just bought the converter box for it. The Hitchhiker II has an antenna, but I don't know enough about them to say what it does or doesn't do. I don't watch much tv, news & weather once in a while, so I don't want to bother with sat...
Some of our RV-Dreams Family members have suggested that we do a cookbook made up of recipes from the RV-Dreams Community. So we are making that happen. Anyone can contribute up to three* of their favorite recipes online between now and February 28, 2008. We are trying to get 300 recipes. Linda wil...
Hubby and I stopped in San Antonio, TX for a routine oil change and tire rotation for our 2007 GMC Duramax Diesel. AFTER they changed the oil they said they had noticed an oil leak from the oil pan, but because we were at a Chevy place they couldn't work on it under the warranty, so they sent us down the stre...
I scrolled down and realized that this is actually the board my original post should have been in. Sorry, I am new. I went back and copied and pasted so I could get it in the right one. There is a lot on here to look at! Thanks. Hi Everyone, I am new to this site but had searched and saw that the Stable Table...
I an new to this forum and we are considering buying this used Cameo fifth wheel. It has the Arizona Slide which has lots of windows and the roof on the slide is all skylights. DH and I are concerned that this might be a lot colder in cold weather and a lot hotter in hot weather. We are worried about conden...
I read somewhere on this forum that a desktop might get too jostled around while on the road. I have a fairly new desktop plus a brand new laptop that I really dislike. I bought a keyboard for it and maybe when I get a mouse I will tolerate it better, but I would like to know if anyone uses a desktop without a...
As the patriarch of my family I floated a trial balloon with several of my children to see what they thought of our cutting back on the amount of money we spend on each other for Christmas gifts. They all agreed that it was a good idea. Everyone is facing a certain amount of insecurity about the future and...
Hi to all of the blogers. Got into a bind in that we would like to incorporate a slide show into our blog. After much trying and fustration we decided we need help. We put some pictures on Photobucket, but we can't or don't know how to put them on the slide show. We also have the same pictures on our compute...
I came across this news article this morning and thought I would share it. I know most of you all read about H&L tire change last week and how Howard checked the date code so here is another news article that reinforces that we should check those dates not just on tires before we buy tires for our vehi...
HI, I am new to this group and hope to get answers to my stupid questions and meet new people along they way. My wife and I just purchased a 5th wheel 2008 Everest 344J made by Keystone. This is not our first trailer but it is our first 5th wheel. My question is about the front landing gear. It's electric o...
For those of you on a budget, how long did it take you to adjust to living on less income? I assume it is going to cost more than we are planning for. We have seen a number of budgets and have come up with our own, yet it may cost more. What have you done to adjust and live on less? Thanks Randy and Pam www.warner...
Hey Team: With our full-timing, plan A still on track for next Spring, I'm researching the best truck to pull my eventual 5er. The rig's size mandates a class 4 and a Ford F-450 was tops on my list, UNTIL, I started reading many non-RV blogs and forums where F-450 owners reported massive and expensive...
Does anyone have any recommendations on shops that can convert (correctly) HDT's to single rear axle for 5th hauling use? I'm sure any well equipped truck shop could do the job but I wanted to get feedback from anyone who's had it done. I've read about Larry Z from Texas, but I want to find out about true t...
We have a lot in Snug Harbor, NC (google "Snug Harbor Property Owners Association" for info on the area). I am wondering if it would be worth it to have the lot cleared, septic/well/electric installed, and a pad poured for an RV. The main goal would be to rent it out to RV'ers like everyone on t...
Good Day, I am new to RV Dreams. My wife and I just purchased a new 5th Wheel (2008 Everest). This is our third trailer. They seem to get bigger every time. We started with a 23ft hybrid trailer (cross between a pop out and conventional trailer). When we started camping we started with 2 boys and my w...
I pick up my Fleetwood (Terry) 27 TT with deep sofa slide-out next wednesday and will be on the road by Sunday next for a Tennessee visit with family then off to Brunswick, GA for my 10 month hiatus working for FLETC. After that it will be 2 months back in Michigan and then who knows (woohoo!)... The TT is a 9...
Hi, This will be our first year on the road for Thanksgiving. We were wondering what plans people have for the Big Day? We always like leftovers, and we think it'll take a week to cook everything in our tiny oven to be ready for dinner! Suzanne & Brad campingandtravels.blogspot.com -- Edited by sub...
We start fulltiming in February. Will head to Livingston TX first thing. Then back to Louisiana to spend time with Len's family. Good news is that we have a three month job at Beachcomber Camping Resort for the summer back up in Cape May, NJ. Only 1 hour from where we now live. We won't get rich from t...
Hi Everyone, We sold the house 3 weeks ago, and after giving everything to the kids, charity, and friends....and selling a few things also.....we are free ! It was a busy time, but we are so very thankful, and happy. We closed this morning at 10:00, and we are over the moon. A very nice couple bought our...
I imagine there must be a few decent little 12V and/or 110V compressors out there that won't burn up after a couple of tire fills... My only compressor is a rather largesh contractors unit with wheels on one end and a 50 foot hose. Pulls 10 amps 110V when first turning over. Great for blowing texture on th...
Apparently another good RV manufacturer is closing down. Just saw this notice. NuWu to halt production RVbusiness.com reported Friday that NuWa Industries Inc., Chanute, Kan., will stop production of its high-end fifth-wheels on Christmas Eve but will keep its sales staff and parts and service...
This article, Location, location, location - and broadband, discusses people making a decision on where people live based on broadband internet availability, but also has information for full-timers and those thinking about full-timi...
As long as I've been a member, you'd think I'd be able to use this forum properly. But I can't seem to get my signature block to show a live link to our blog page. Advice anyone?
