Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi All, I need some input from folks not involved in the situation to give me a balanced perspective. Our house has been on the market 5 months - we've had about 8 showings, but as it is most places the market is pretty dead. We've dropped the price from $339K to $299K - which is lower than the rest of the c...

Hi all! Our house has sold, much of the furniture is gone and 3 months from now...so will I! My husband has to work until Feb and then we will be leaving to become Texans! My parents will travel with us for the first couple of months. They will have the bedroom which puts us on the sleep sofa. We tried it last w...
Hi everyone. My name is Jon and I have been interested in hitting the road full time for several years. At first I thought having small children would prevent that, but as I've seen from other sites it works well to teach the kids "real" history and life. My only problem is my wife doesn't sha...
Hi, I just ran across this article on a new electrical connector to couple the tow vehicle to your trailer or fifth wheel. This could be a major improvement to the existing technology. In less than 3 years of fulltiming, we have had a number of instances where we have lost electical connection with the...
We were very busy trying to get everything organized after our house sold. We left Ontario 2 wks ago and our home base is Port Richey Florida. It's a great campground. We will travel from here to to other destinations since we are not far from anything. We had a lot of setting up to do. Our cell phones...
We're one step closer to our fulltime dream. Three years ago today we decided to start the search to become fulltimers. We had a date of March 2012, but when we went to the RV-Dreams rally, we learned we could go a lot sooner. Today, 3 yrs later we are proud owners of the truck we'll be using for fulltime....
We are still a few years away from going fulltime. We would like to hear from others on how "Green" RVing can be. We are concerned about our environment and one of the reasons for our desire to RV is to get out to see this country. We currently drive 50 mpg hybrid cars, use all energy efficien...
Just received the first bill from Verizon for my aircard. Went over the 5GB usage limit by 2GB. Do any providers offer an unlimited wireless data usage plan ? -- Edited by thebearII at 16:46, 2008-11-04
I renewed my AAA membership the 1st of October, so I have nearly a year to go on it. Will it work the same for an RV, or for just the truck pulling the 5VER? I looked at the website for Coach-Net, and that is double the cost of AAA, although the coverage looks pretty good. I'd like to just wait until AAA expi...
Just bought an immaculate 99' E350 V10 for a great price to pull my TT with but the previous owner was a smoker and when I turn on the heat I get blasted with that dirty ashtray smell. Other than tearing it apart and cleaning the fins on the heater coil is there any tricks out there for circulating anything t...
Hello Folks ! Just wanted to introduce my self to this fine forum. My DW and I started our full timing in October 2004. She retired from a trust deptment in a bank in Cleveland Ohio... and I handed in my turn out gear to the Elyria Ohio Fire Service as well. Both of our daughters had moved out of Ohio after c...
Hey, My wife and I are planning to become fulltimers as soon as possible. Our orinal plan was 24 mos. or less. As we get ready for our new full time adventure, we are trying to decide what all we need with us! My husband has had lots of fun at Sears, while I have been enjoying Walmart and kitchen stores. However, we are not sure about the plumbing...what supplies and tools should we take with us? We will have lots of...
Just wanted to let all know that in the past two months we have been doing a lot of traveling and had poor Wi-Fi most of the way. We left Montana in early sept and did some sightseeing and wound up in Celina, OH for the Gypsy Journal Rally, Got to meet several Rv-dreamers there. After that we were in PA which...

I use a Rubber Seal Lubricant on my rig to keep the slide out seals plyable. Since it is a non-petroleum product, I was thinking that it might be something that I could add to the surface of my tires to protect them. Anyone have any experience with this idea?
Last week I bought a Hitchhiker II and Ford F-350 truck. The tailgate on the truck is too high and the previous owner backed up too far and damaged the storage bay door behind the hitch. She bought the replacement door and recommended that I replace the tailgate with a "V" style. Where wou...
I have read previous posts, blogs & journals where someone will mention that they didn't unhitch if they only planned to stop overnight. When you do this must you still level the unit, lower the jacks, etc? How about the slides? I understand that you can't extend the slides in a Walmart or Crack...
Can someone please tell me if they have a fiver with slides if you can replace the carpet with Wood or Tile flooring? DH says it would scratch if you have slide outs and replaced it with wood or tile floors. southwestjudy
Does anyone offer a "school" for the mechanical parts (ie electrical, water, etc) for an RV. Not because I want to go into business, I just want to know more about how they work as we travel.
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question, but here goes. I am going to order the Pressure Pro tire monitoring system and am trying to figure out how many sensors I will need. I guess it goes without saying that I don't need it for the spare tire, as I would just replace the sensor to the...
Howard, I believe you may have done some research on this topic. Perhaps you or someone else can answer my question. I am looking at a paid workamping position and am concerned about the tax implications. For example, if you are working in California for more than three months, I believe you are then c...

Several years ago I remember reading about a technique to prevent dust from getting into your RV while travelling down dirt roads. I seem to remember it had something to do with opening the roof vents (one or both ? or ???) to create a pressure on the inside of the RV while travelling..... It was also ef...
Hi, We just wanted to share a great book we used when we bought our rig - I'm not selling anything - just truly watned to share with others since it saved us a bunch of money. It's called: RV Buyers Survival Guide by Bob Randall. I'm sure you could probably get it at your local library. Enjoy! Suzanne &...
