Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have a problem with 1800 rpm at 65mph. However, at 62 mph and 1680 rpm I do get 8 mpg. My coach has a Cummins 370 ISL and 33,0000 gross weight. 1200 ft pds torque at 1300 rpm is my max torque. At 65mph and 1800 rpm I have lost about 200 ft pds torque. At 70 mph i am under 1000 pounds of torque and that means the sli...
We are at our Year 1 anniversary, and what a year its been. I wrote two blog posts about it if your interested. The first is all the facts and figures. This does not included financials (started tracking in January so will finish that in December), but all other things numbers related. http://camp...
I really feel like we're getting the run around right now from our extended warranty company. One of our sealed bearings, which is covered on our plan, failed, so we need a new axle, etc. I knew the tire and wheel wouldn't be covered, although I was hopeful since it was collateral damage and we had just...
I had wanted to pose the question, what are the one or two most important things all of you use on a daily basis, and could not imagine functioning without. But then I started working through this section of the forum and found a few posts that served the bill: top 10 lists, for instance. However, I began t...
So, we are about 4 months into being full-time RVers -- well, we are both still working our full-time jobs, but we are living exclusively in our coach and awaiting our retirement in December. Woo hoo!!! So, clearly our views of materialistic objects/what's useful, etc. has changed since our living...
We had been thinking about doing a little kayaking in our Sea Eagle this weekend on the Lake Mohave reservoir (Part of Lake Mead National Rec Area) and with a little research I found that all vessels, including inflatable kayaks, needed a decal showing that it has been inspected for AIS. The closes...
Is it my imagination, or was there some conversation about a crockpot cake at the rally potluck? I thought I saw something about a cake everyone was raving about, but I can't find anything now either here or on the RV Dreams Journal. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
I just completed a Journal post on the recently announced OmniLynx data plan (through Verizon although they are not allowed to say it). Here's the deal:UNLIMITED DATA$47.75 per month - NO contract (month-to-month)Free use of 6620L MiFi Hotspot by Novatel No other sign-up fees or chargesFree shi...
One of the facts of life when Fulltiming is having to do maintenance and repairs while on the road, where ever you are. During our recent travels to Indianapolis IN Shipshewana IN, Florida NY, College Park MD, Atlanta GA and FT Myers FL we have not had any problems with our 5th Wheel or GMC Truck. Our r...
9" of snow in Flagstaff yesterday. Down to 45° in Mesa tonight! Should warm up this weekend, then another cool down next week. Make sure to check the weather often this year coming down as there will be waves of cooler/wet/snow weather with the El Nino storms setting up out in the Pacific. And ye...
Hey now....... The '06 Ventana I'm looking at has 27,000 miles on it. A 3 year Coach warranty is included in the price. The dealer has offered me a 4th yr of Coach, and 4 yrs of drivetrain/engine for an additional $2,800 CDN through First Canadian. The price seems fair but the dealer insists th...
I was driving home from the Prescott VA Hospital last night and half listening to an NPR program interviewing a folk (I think) singer whose name I didn't catch. It was a very profound interview but one comment he made was "He lived his life fully in spite of the inevitable" struck me as that so...
Had to replace my hard drive and lost tons of saved info... Some one posted a link on a European tool kit (drill, table saw, drill press ).... anyone by chance have that link? Thank you.
Hey there, thanks in advance for any input! So I've been shopping diesel pushers in my price range for a few months now and am getting close to pulling the trigger. I'm looking at an '06 Newmar Ventana w/Cummins 330 and an Allison 6. It's got 3 slides and only 25,000 miles. But on today's testdr...
We currently own a 1993 Foretravel MH. We've been full-timing in it for just over a year now, and really like it. We're starting to look ahead to the day when we want/need a different coach. How do we handle the transition? Since Foretravels aren't made in huge numbers, many, if not most, owners sell pri...
Hi there everybody! I am 56 single and live with my dog in a sticks and bricks home in Ky. I've been retired for 2 years and am going to sell my home and buy an RV. Shewww, I said it so that makes it real...hahha I am still considering what kind I want but I think I want a 5th wheel toy hauler (room for the bike). Th...
Has anybody found an alternative way to create blog posts offline, other than Livewriter? I've been using Livewriter exclusively for several years, and I love it, but I just got a new laptop, and it is Windows 10, which does not appear to be supported by Livewriter. I tried downloading it, and it faile...
I have a friend that is considering buying a new Sports Coach. Another dealer said they are an entry level motorhome. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with this brand? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Hey guys! My husband and I have been an RV owner for about 3 months now. We are planning to go full time while we build our next house. Right now we are waiting on the sell of our current home to fully move in. In the mean time, we've taken her out for a weekend, and plan to go out for a few weeks coming up soon. We L...
This is our first time to store our 2015 BayStar. I have had it winterized by professionals and am storing it in An unheated shed in central Illinois. I do not have access to electricit, so I assume I should remove the chassis battery as well as the house batteries and store them in a warm place off concret...
I'm sure this question comes up often, but darned if I can find it. I'm trying to guesstimate how much cargo capacity I need for for full-timing. I guess people do it in all sizes and shapes, the trailers/5ths in my price range have absurdly low capacities. It's amazing, some manufacturers use the same...
We are working on thinning out/getting rid of our stuff, and as I'm going through this process I'm finding that I'm not really sentimental about too much at all. Mostly I just want it gone! I am slightly concerned that in a cleaning and clearing frenzy, I will actually get rid of too much stuff. So, I hav...
After 7 years of research and our dream to become full time RVers finally came to fruition July 28 2015, a few days before our goal of August 1 2015. Selling and giving away many of our long prized possessions was a most painful exercise. However, after almost 6 weeks we gave up possession of our 2 bedroom...
Hubby just arrived tonight in Fla for 6 weeks fishing and says it's sweltering down there, and here I am stuck in AB waiting for snow that keeps threatening in the skies and temps. Anyway, that got me thinking about our not too far away snow birding travels and plans. Can you experienced snowbirds sh...
We recently purchased a used 2012 New Horizon fiver which is equipped with Mor/Ryde suspension . In the process of getting to know our rig in more detail and preparing for our long trip south I noticed that the suspension system has a grease fitting at each wheel location. My question is how often shou...
Hello! We are Joe and Cindy from Ohio and 2016 will be our first Dream rally. We're a few years away from retirement yet but our dream is to full time RV at that time. Currently we do weekend camping and have a small pull behind camper but we plan to purchase a 5th wheel after we retire. We are very anxious to m...
