Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We just got home from the Denver RV show. Although the selection was a little disappointing, we did find one that we're seriously interested in. It is the Heartland Bighorn. The construction and craftmanship seems to be quality and it has all of our 'must haves' and most of our 'nice to haves'. We s...
Baystar 2015 just purchased. We have used several times and feel I'm using correct sequence to retract levelers. I took out fuse to the equalizer leveler system and replaced it and I could get them retracted. Lowered and then couldn't retract again, pulled fuse, put it back in and would work once. Not...
Currently we're just outside of Sacramento with plans to head south to northern AZ in just a couple of days. CA 58 is currently closed due to last week's mudslide, not expected to reopen for several days. Trying to determine the most logical alternate route. Alternates would include heading fur...
Good morning or afternoon... depending on your time zone. There are a lot of postings on the forum about RV, vehicle and health insurance (all important), but a search didn't turn up anything on long term care insurance. After seeing what my mother went through with my father (Lewy body dementia), my...
I have a sliding accordion type door in my shower. It has metal vertical rails and plastic panels between the rails. My rig is about 10 years old and the plastic has started splitting. I am using a shower curtain temporarily for now, but would like to replace the plastic panels. Does anyone have a s...
My wife and I will be purchasing our fulltiming motorhome next year. We've looked at so many during the past three years. I am asking for opinions on whether we should begin focusing our search on new gas units or used (2007 or newer DP). I know many of the pros and cons of each from talking while camping in...
A Louisiana/Florida dealer is advertising a free forever warranty on new and gently used motor homes and travel trailer/fifth wheels. Requirement is owner must do proper upkeep in accordance with insurance agreement. I suspect this is a way to insure you spend plenty with their service dep...
In our many years of camping, we have have come to enjoy public camping locations rather than commercial campgrounds. And we have learned that there are some great ways to save money at public campgrounds. I recently put together an overview of federal and state programs that provide camping discou...
Hi All, It's been a long summer and a long while since I posted, but we are making great progress towards hitting the road. In fact on track to finally purchase that DRV Full House next month (yep, finally decided she's the one!). However, I have a question about suspension that came up in a recent con...
We are still trying to make our decision on which 5er we will purchase, but have decided our home will be a 5er. We are in a little pinch carefully watching weights and carrying capacities as we purchased a new truck a few months ago - before our plans took a sudden leap. Our truck is a RAM 2500HD, gas. 12,90...
Good afternoon, everyone, There is an elderly couple staying in the campground where we are who have a 2005 Mobile Suites 32TK3 that they purchased used from a private party. I don't know if they were shown or have just forgotten, but they don't know how to check the levels in the holding tanks. I search...
My wife & I are looking to sale or trade our RV Membership in Midwest Outdoor Resorts in Rushmore Shadows in the Black Hills of South Dakota. New memberships are selling from $7-12K. We are interested in any reasonable offer or a trade to a more southerly campground. You will also have full acces...
We have only had this RV a couple weeks. We drove it home about 700 miles and just drove about 400 miles this weekend. I have noticed that it runs warm when going up hills at 60mph but at 70mph it does better. Is there a good RPM to run at and what temperature should it run at on the highway? What is the "...
Hello folks.. Been a while. Still full timing..Still here in FL. Bought a property for the winters, and have been working on setting it up for life.... mostly. Have a scenario maybe some can help me with it? I have a warehouse that is connected via century link internet with wifi. One of the houses is abo...
I wrote on here before re: buying a used diesel or a new gas and y'all were very helpful! We test drove the diesel and loved it but it ends up the odometer had been replaced so it currently reads only 7000 miles. The dealer said they can provide documentation showing the ECM reading with actual mil...
I had an epiphany early this year and have been planning my full-time RV future since. I am in a place right now that everything is coming together and I have set a launch date of August 2016. I have neve been more determined to meet a deadline in my life! lol I'm here to learn, meet friends who are like m...
Hubby saw a used 31' class C listed on an RV dealer website and has been looking at it online every day for the past couple of weeks or so. Today, the listing came up at 5K less than their previously listed price and he decided to go look at it. If you've read my other couple of posts, you'll know that I'm not...
I have a Dometic RM1350 (not a residential model though). I seem to need to defrost the freezer about every 2 weeks, as the ice build up on the back gets to be about 1/8". Is it normal to have to do it this often? If not, what should I be looking for that could be causing it to frost up so quickly? Thanks...
We are interested in traveling the lower 48 states over 6-12 months with our 4 kids (ages 7, 10, 10, & 12). We have rented a Class A for 3 weeks & didn't kill each other! We currently live in Alaska so even going to the RV shows is difficult. I'm trying to do my research to see what we should be look...
Hi all, Looking for opinions or experiences here. Which do you think or have you found costs more in general. The reason I ask is in my brain it would be cheaper to stay still, less gas etc, but many folks who have done this awhile move very frequently and keep their costs very low. So what's the scoop...
Gary and Deb working on beginning a full time adventure, bringing our young at heart and spunky MIL along. Just waiting to sell our N Florida home. We are planning on buying a Grand Design Reflection BH 5th wheel. I'm retired from the USAF and plan to use military FamCamps when available. Love RVin...
We are not full timers and store our Newmar Ventana at a storage yard when not in use. Last year was our first winter with it and I serviced it with RV antifreeze as we have an Oasis hot water heater and furnace. In the past with our prior coach I would just use air to clear all of the lines and then if I wanted to...
In the spirit of Howard's financial openness on this forum, I want to throw this out there for any and all advice: when it comes time to buy our fifth-wheel in the next year, we are looking to spend around $50,000 on a unit that will be used full-time (we will be selling our house, so the fifth will become ho...

Just passing this along- If anyone is looking for a great fulltime rig, there is a Trilogy for sale about 2 miles from us. It is rated as a fulltime unit (by other fulltimers), has most of the options, and appears to be in great condition. Where we are and where it is, is in an area where folks from up north l...
