Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Not new to RVing but not really an old hand either. I am semi retired and the wife is retired and we are considering upgrading our RV. We are currently in a 2010 Mako by Gulf Stream, this is a nice unit but not for full timing. To put it bluntly, we need more room and more storage......oh yea the wife wants mor...

Has anyone been/experienced the Chicago area in mid November? We have a wedding to go to November 2015 and just curious. I doubt we are going down with the motorhome. We are likely going to fly there and back. Just wondering about the weather........Is it usually decent or freezing cold. I understand...
Overhead rear lights run by dimmer switch are flickering in off position and refuse to turn off completely. 2016 Lifestyle LS36FW. How to fix? Fire hazard? We are currently hooked up to 50 amp shore power at a resort. Also, Panasonic DVD/CD player is constantly muting itself during playback requir...
For those that have seen a new Lifestyle 5th wheel, what do you have to say about them? Good, bad, so-so? I know they are from the former Carriage staff, but are they more like a Cameo or closer to a Carri-Lite? How would you compare them to a Mobile Suites, Redwood, Landmark? I have tried to ask question...
My family and I includes my wife and three girls ages 8, 6, and 3. We are very interested in full-timing in a 5th wheel for a few years as my ability to work as a travel nurse allows me to travel to a different location every three months and my wife homeschools the girls. We have only been to 4 dealerships s...
Hi all! I'm new to the group and would like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Stacey and I'm from Upstate NY. My hubby and I are getting ready to go full time in Feb. While I have some experience going camping and he is retired military and used to fox holes this is all very new to us. We have a 38' T...
Hello, all! This is a very new decision, but we are in search of a 5th wheel to live in full time. We intend to park it at our business for the next year or two, and eventually travel around with it. For now, it will stay in the same place for the most part. We live in Western North Carolina. We need somethi...
Looking for suggestions for a Campground or RV park near Charleston, SC for September 2016 stay. We will be in the area for a reunion being held at the Radisson Airport and would like to find a nice campground/RV park in the area for our stay. We have a 38" Class A. Thank you for any help or suggest...
Hey guys, need some help please. We are travelling from Charleston SC, to the San Antonio area of TX, starting Dec 6th. Hubby really wants to visit the big Aquarium in Atlanta, GA on the way. I have been trying all morning to find an RV park that has reasonable reviews, that we can stay at for 2 nights. No lu...
Hello! My wife and I are thinking about an RV for some extended travel to see the country. She'll be retiring next spring and I'll probably be about a year after. We've never stayed in a large RV, but have camped and done short trips of a week or so in a VW Westfalia camper. We have a small house we love at...
Hello! I have a question about my bus to house conversion. I want to install solar panels, however I realize that this means I will need to be parked in full sun to get optimum power. I live in Mexico and it is HOT.. I have two dogs and will not have air conditioning (and most likely not even a fridge!). I am cu...
It has been 3-4 months since I used Aqua Hot (450D) for heat. We have used it both electric and diesel for hot water and it seems to work fine. Tonight it is 34 degrees, so I tried the heat (furnace) using both electric and diesel. The burner fires up, all lights are green, all fans blow. The air tempera...

Hi all, Been a while since I've been on here and a lot has happened. Not all good but ***it happens. I now have a 1998 Fleetwood Flair 26 ft long. I am about to go solo full-time and am looking at a 2009 Thor Hurricane 31D, I like the floorplan and being solo I feel it it is big enough for me. Any advice or commen...
So I'll be shopping for a used truck and new trailer in the next few months. The likely candidate is a Tundra 5.7L 4x4, which has a GCVWR of 16000#, biggest among half-tons as far as I can tell. To avoid drifting into a discussion of towing capacities, please assume that it's enough. If it isn't, then I'...
Hello. Newbie here. Been doing lots of research on MH and fivers as we plan on going full time asap (well, when the house sells). Weve found a 2011 and a 2012 DRV mobile suite that we think are strong contenders. My question is regarding known issues wi these model years. I've read there were issues w t...

I feel like I've been posting incessantly, but as we get closer to making things happen, more questions pop up. We have made some major decisions. Our new rig will be a class A...probably a gasser. It will be under 35'. Clearly it will be a used rig. I would like to know what your checklist would be bef...
HiWe had an argue with my husband about the light in our trailer. He considers that the light should be cheap. I think that LED lamps are more effective and I like the light from them. I want to choose a nice fixture with warm light color. Who can give recommendations about the lumens?
hubby wants to purchase an electric meter for our new rv....what say you? want to be able to check amps and voltage at electric poles, check outlets for PDI, etc thanks!
Hi everyone. I am a handyman with a lot of RV experience (80% electric) and I am thinking about trying to make money by doing odd jobs for RVers, and I assume that means mostly in RV parks. I am looking into buying my own RV but at the moment I am a tent camper who camps in the bush, comes in to town as needed. ...
Hi everyone, my name is Michael out of Cranbury, NJ and I am a big fan of off-roading and RV. Cold weather: I have a simple question about putting up Bubble foil insulation on windows with screens. I haven't been removing the inner screens, but simply putting the Bubble foil insulation behind the window shade. This makes it easier to remove the foil when wanted. It seems to be working but am...
