Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello,
I have been lurking on this website and finally decided to get an ID. My husband and I are planning on retiring mid-year 2007. We are Full Time Wannabes in our early 50s. We've always had RVing in the back of our mind but then about two years ago I discovered the RV Life on Wheels website. We attend...
Do you guys think you will ever run out of things to update or add to your RV? We have had our current 5th wheel for 18 months and I can't find enough money nor time to do all the things I want ! It has slowed down a bit last month or so but the previous 6 months I have spent so much time UNDER my rv that it now feels li...
Most all of the units we have looked at on dealers lots do not have the dual pane windows but they are offered as options when ordering. I know they are a plus in both hot and cold weather but do they make enough of a differance to pass up the dealers stock and order a rig? If you do not have them now, do you find y...
I would like to know the approximate percentage of private campgrounds that offer monthly rates and about what that rate is. I'm guessing that is the least expensive way to fulltime other than boondocking or workamping.
I seem to spend a lot of time washing and waxing my Prowler and I still have black streaks that will not come clean. I have used soap so powerful it took some paint off. There has got to be a better way.
I have cleaned the roof a couple of times..... One thing I do know is safety sho...
Some of the fun on the road is visiting new areas, eating out in new resturants, getting some ice cream and other tasty goodies. But with all those calories and lots of sitting in the recliners at camp or in the driver/passenger seats, well...there seems to be a little growing of the spare tire or...
My wife, Carol, and I are starting our full time adventure on October 30th this year. We currently live in Wenatchee, WA. We have owned numerious rv's over the past 37 years. We went to the Southwest for 2 months last year and liked the life style so well we decided to go full timing. We have a 2007 35 CKQG Nu...
We are going to spend a month in Oregon next year. Since it's so hot in Fresno in July we though we would visit the Oregon coast to cool off a bit.
Based upon reviews that I've read, we already have made reservations at the Midway RV Park in Coos Bay for two weeks. We want to spend another two weeks in the New...
Taking a short trip (5 days) to the Outer Banks in NC in mid October. Any nice campgrounds there that you've stayed at and liked enough to go back to? Thanks!
Best Regards!
Hi to all, We are now in our Winter home, we are in Mission Tx. Its 86 degrees and the humidity is 31. Hard to beat that, got home yesterday and it was nice to see the signs saying welcome home Winter Texans. Hooked of the HDTV system yesterday and this morni...
Hi everyone,
We're hoping to be able to "get on the road" fall of 2007 and spend our allowed 6 months (we're Canadians and have to protect our health care eligibility) finding warmer weather and generally being "snowbirds".
Our challenge is that we don't feel we can lay out the price of a new...
Not to be presumptuous, but I thought that some of you full-timers and some of you wannabees might get a kick out of hearing what one couple is doing to prepare for their "debut" as full-timers come the fall of 2009. Yes, that seems like a long way from now, but we have a lot to accomplish.
Sandy and I re...
If you're ever in Austin and looking for an RV park, try Oak Forest. It's a Passport America campground and has all the amenities. The only suggestion I had for their suggestion request was that they need wifi throughout the park, not just around the office/rec hall. Other than that it's clean, conven...
My husband and I are weighing the pros and cons of towing 4 down vs trailering the toad. My concern is RV park space - is there always sufficient space for the 40' MH with slides, the toad, and a trailer? Also, how difficult is it to load the toad in and out of the trailer, compared to hitching a...
Well, "someday" arrived, and we close on the sale of our home in two weeks (to our son and his wife). Garage sales are done, donations made to family/friends/shelters, and what I "just can't part with" is in climate control storage, along with our seasonal clothing/coats/family pictures. I definit...
The wife and I are considering moving from a 5er to a MH to accommodate some health issues (being able to access a WARM bathroom while on the road is important). We are looking for something in the 35-38' range and wondering if we should go Diesel or gas? We will likely go late model used in either case.

Although we have not yet been there and do not plan to boondock we are planning a trip there....as right now we are in a campground about an hr. from there. I was wondering if any of the readers can give us some insight to this place that we hear so much about. From talking to others here in the campgro...
I am Dennis and my wife is Michele, we currently do not have an RV but are looking at the lifestyle. We are avid cyclists and camp out some and stay at our primitive farm house a lot.
I have enjoyed this trip with Howard and Linda, find it inspiring and motivating. We have already started a simple lifesty...
Okay, someone had to ask it. What does everybody do for toilet paper? I see they sell "special" toilet paper but surely there are some success and horror stories about this. Can't see getting those field corn cobs through that 3" ball valve.

I have recently become fascinated with Dutch Oven Cooking! I have a couple of questions.
Do you have to use a Dutch Oven with feet on it? I have a old cast iron DO that I use in the kitchen, it has no feet but it does have a flat lid. It has a wire handle with a notch in the center and it is well season...
We sold our home and downsized to a 34.5 Hitchiker 2 a couple of months ago. we live at a county RV park and help out in exchange for full hookup, including 50 amp service. Linda is a teacher and i have a small business. we travel on weekends and at all the school breaks including long tr...
Hi,
I could use some advice from all of you Snowbirds out there. My husband and I are going to San Diego and Seattle from Texas for the holidays. The plan is to go to San Diego via I-10, and I-8, then head up the coast to the Columbia River and up I-5 for Washington. The problem is comin...
Howard and Linda has the same 5th wheel as Delaine and Lindy and we have the same problem as they, our remote control heating system does as it wants. Has to be set very high to get it to work? When it does come on it seems to run for ever. A comment was m...
