Don, it is going to vary wildly. I'd guess - and it is just a guess - that probably 25% of the campgrounds we have been in have monthly rates. The snowbird-belt parks tend to all have them. In general, it comes out to a little less than 3 weeks on the weekly rate. That is a generalization - not a formula, though.

Staying a month is definitely the way to go if you're trying to save money. We are from Ontario and the rates there are quite expensive but staying a month this summer at selected campgrounds, I was able to come in under budget every month (except for July when my nephew got married). Sometimes you get charged for electricity on a monthly rate though.

Also daily rates don't tell you what the monthly rates are. We have friends that stay at a KOA close to their kids at a monthly rate that is about 8 times the daily rate, while others it is more like 15 to 20 daily rates. But most places except the most popular have cheaper rates the longer you stay. You have to ask. We find that probably two-thirds of private campgrounds have some sort of discount for staying longer, but only a portion (and 1/4 sounds about right to us) post them.

We spent last December for the month in Huachuca City Arizona near Tombstone at Mountain View RV park. rent as $265 plus electric. There were several parks within a 20 mile raduis which had lower rates though. Some as low as $200

It depends in Benson, Az. Excapees you can pay for a month plus you pay for electric and get one wk free. We are in the Snowbird region in Az. and are paying 325 plus electric (monthly rate) plus electric, however, yesterday at our Thanksgiving dinner at clubhouse they were selling chances and we won a half month here for nothing... so of course we shall stay another month.

I'm retired and lived on Ft. Huachuca, for six years. We also was there 3 weeks in June of 05. I hadn't been back there since 1979, a big change. We stayed at Apache flats Rv park on Ft. Huachuca, if I remember right we paid $16.00 a day. We like Arizona and will go there when we do our Western trip in 07. Apache flats Rv park is very nice, concrete pull thurs and 50 amp service. If your retired Military, its a great benefit. We use Military Rv parks and much as we can. The enviorment is very secure. The only most Military Rv parks you can't reserve. Sierra Vista is very nice RV park also, some are a little pricey. GBY...

Over the past 30 years of RVing we have found that most private parks have monthly rates. In some you may have to commit to stay more than 1 month to get it. Some places you pay your own electric bill. In general the monthly rate is about equal to 3 weeks at the daily rate unless you are paying your own electric, then it is about equal to 2 weeks at the daily rate. In most cases they do not offer discounts on monthly rates. Of course I am speaking in generalities here so any particular park may vary somewhat. Some parks post their monthly rates and some don't so you will have to ask of you don't see it posted. In any event we have never paid more than $450 (electric included) per month even at the highest line RV resorts. We have paid as little as $250 (plus electric). I am sure there are higher priced places out there. If you are inclined to longer stays at any one place, then the monthly rate is definitely the way to go.
