Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Updates to your RV

Do you guys think you will ever run out of things to update or add to your RV? We have had our current 5th wheel for 18 months and I can't find enough money nor time to do all the things I want ! It has slowed down a bit last month or so but the previous 6 months I have spent so much time UNDER my rv that it now feels like home! :)

I think my biggest install of equipment that was most needed was the solar system, then next would be the EMS surge protector (saved us many times). Then enclosing the underbelly and insulating is a big plus.

I think the Disk Brake and the Pressure Pro Tire Monitoring was the best upgrades.   Just had a wheel crack and the system let me know before running the tire flat.  Replaced the wheel and I think it's bad also.   Oh well life is good,  what a country....   GBY......

Good point, I installed the Pressure Pro a couple of years ago and forgot all about how important it is. The disc brakes I think we are going to upgrade to in the future. Heck of a lot safe system.

Just to incourage you, it does tend to die out as time goes by. I don't know whether the things to do go down in number or the desire to do them dies but it does tend to die out. We have had our coach for going on 6 years now and I don't do much in the way of add ons any longer. Of course trading RV's starts the process all over again!

Yeah, I guess things are slower than there were in the earlier days but like you said, soon as you trade rigs it starts all over again. I just recently finished installing a new china toilet. Next on the agenda will probably be slideout awnings.

I love to tinker with my motorhome.  I get almost as much enjoyment out of that and maintaining it as I do driving it.  I'm always on the hunt for the next great idea or gadget to install.


So far, I've installed a rear track bar and Monroe shocks to improve the ride and handling, a DVD-VCR player to upgrade tha VCR only, and installed a crank up satellite dish.  I installed the vent covers over my vents, a CB, XM radio and a GPS.


I want to install solar panels and an In-Motion Satellite Dish (for the grandkids) but am at an all-stop-bell.  We are looking for another new motorhome for the near future fulltime travels when I retire from the military (within the next year or two).  But I'm still dreaming!!!

Paul, that sounds sweet! I hope I am done buying rv's for a while because I am tired of swapping solar panels and other equipment. Although I do enjoy the excitement of hooking it all up and getting it working again. I have disc brakes and slideout awnings on my list yet.
