Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi Everyone!
I have a question. What are the top 5 things inside and the top 5 things outside of your rig/camper that you fulltimers couldn't live without!!
Kinda new at the forum thing, but I have been reading Howard and Linda' blog for a while and I have gained a lot of information from all of you. It has been a dream of my husband and myself to hit the road. and it looks like that is going to happen in the next 6-7 months if all goes as planned. I hope to be ab...
Since Rvers are obviously people who like to travel, I would be interested in how many of you participate in scrapbooking? I am a Creative Memories Consultant and would love to offer all on-the-road scrapbookers our new service.... Starting November 7, you can visit my Creative Memories web...
Today the house finally closed for us. We were late in doing so and have been staying at a Corp. of Eng. campground. Yesterday we left and are now at Caballo State Pk. in New Mexico. What a wonderful campground, it has the lake, cactus gardens, great layout of sites so you are n...
Hi,
Our Ford F350 rides fairly well when we're towing, but is a ROUGH ride when we're out and about without the trailer, and that's more than half our total mileage. I've already lowered the pressure in the front tires and that's helped a little, but I'm sitll not happy.
I'm wondering if anyone...
We got back from the RV Show in Hershey last week with more questions than we went with.
Now we are considering going with a gas powered Class A instead of diesel (mainly for the price difference). We could full time for a year or more with the difference in price, but are not sure if we would be as happy wi...
Breakdowns and flat tires can happen while on the road. What Emergency Road Service do you have, what has been your experience with it and would you renew your contract with that service or choose another?
Best Regards!
When you are driving between destinations, do you have any travel distance rules? I know some fulltimers use a 2-2-2 rule, never more than 200 miles, stop by 2 pm, stay at least 2 days.
Others, like me, (a fulltimer in training), make the most of the limited time off I have and drive long d...
We are coming up on our year and are looking at getting an extended warranty. Got a real good price from company called Warranty Experts and wondered if anyone had any experience with them. You know the old saying if it sounds too good to be true it probablyisn't so hope somebody knows some...
Finally. Last night we spent our first night are true full timers in our new Cardinal 36TS Fiver.
After two weeks of anguish with the dealership we purchased from, they finally delivered our "house" on Friday, and yesterday we "moved in".
I will work for 14 more months, so we'll pretty much be stat...
This is an inquiry related to how many hours/day/week people sit in front of television.
We got our first black/white 12" set in 1949. Our first color 19" set in 1957 ( WPAFB area) with only about 2-3 hours of color broadcasting a day.
The sets were on from early morning t...
I have an 01, F250 7.3 liter diesel, on flat to modertly hilly roads no question the O.D. is on along with the cruise control. This past weekend we went to a new campground, had to travel over some large long hills. I just kept everthing as was and let her go, it did do some down shifting ...
We are going to be where we are for the winter. It will be cold. I have heat taped and "insulated" the water hose, and the waste pipes coming out of the fiver.
I'm interested in knowing if anyone is using portable electric heaters. What type/brand/size and your opinons
Thanks

Hi everyone
My wife (Orinda) and I (Rick) actually live in South Dakota (and not just in a mail forwarding site ) and are looking forward to retirement early next year. We were able to spend the winter in Florida last year (I am a teacher and taught over the internet) and are planning to fullti...
My husband and I just got back from a wonderful weeks vacation to the mountains of North Carolina. We found a campground that actually caters to RV'ers with dogs. It is called The Four Paws Kingdom Campground. ( www.4pawskingdom.com ) They claim that the are the fir...
There are many RV magazines out there on the market; Motorhome, Trailer Life, Highways, Today's RV, Family Motor Coaching, to name a few.
What one's do you find the most helpful, enjoyable and why?
I get all of the above and a few others because of my incurable RV addiciton and find tech articles an...
As I get closer to buying a 5th wheel, I am looking for advice about where to buy the larger accessories like: slide toppers, solar panels, satellite dish, window awnings, etc.
It seems to me there are 3 choices:
The dealer
Advantages: One stop shopping rolled into RV Loan, Might get good p...
Hi I am Tab and my wife is Deanna, we are part of the graduating class of fulltimers which Howard and Linda are a part of. I just found the site and knew I had to sign up! We started fulltiming in May of 05 and spend the winter in Quartzsite. Currently we are on a cash rebuilding/workamping position for a whil...
Hi,
We're towing 15,550# with a 2006 Ford F350 diesel dually, and although we don't have any complaints with towing performance, we only average between 9.5 and 10 MPG.
I keep reading about modifications for the truck, like air filters and performance chips, and am wondering if any of them work,...
When looking for health insurance for the 2 of us, Is it cheaper to get 2 individual policies or do a family policy? Will insurance companies let you do the 2 individual policies or do they make husband and wife take out a family policy?
If you part time like say 6-8 months out of the year, this needs to be...
Well, I have knots for a tummy but we set Jerry's retirement date (I'm already retired) as Dec 31st, 2006. We are putting the house on the market next week. All of a sudden you wouldn't think that I have spent the last three years reading everything I could find on the internet and books to be...
It would be helpful to hear from fifth wheel owners on what maintenance issues need to be addressed on an annual basis. For example, what's involved in wheel bearing and brake inspections, cleaning, lubing? What needs to be done to rubber roofs to keep them clean and leak free?&n...
My wife of 38 years and I part time in a 32' 5th to stay warm in the winter. I am retired Air Force as well as from other enployeers. We both retired in 2002 and prior to that we had a 945 Lance TC that we love. Retired and spent the summer of 2003 in Alaska and than came home thinking we would sell the Lance and buy...
We are planning to buy a used diesel pusher. Does it make more sense to buy from a dealer where one would expect any major problems in the RV to be fixed before selling or from a private party where major problems might not be disclosed. Finally, any comments about buying from the huge super RV stores that...
We've decided against a toy hauler for our future full-time home that would have allowed us to carry our motorcycle (only 500 lb.) primarily because of space/storage limitations. We know Excel makes a great product and they warranty the use of the fifth wheel for carrying a motorcycle...
Just a question for the fulltimers that use a HDT to pull their rigs, How limited are you reguarding where you can park your unit? Can you get into some of the State Parks, or just commerical campgrounds. We like the out of the way places and I'm not sure we could get there with that much rig. I drive a truck a...
In shopping for a DP, I chatted with a salesman who used obvious "scare" tactics to push me into buying now vice waiting a little longer.
As many of you know, 2007 model year diesel engines have to be modified to use only the new Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel (ULSD) fuel for EPA pollution certification.

Given that a GPS and Pressure Pro both use 12 volt and there is only one 12 volt receptacle on the dash, how do most of you handle the power needs of these two devices and other 12 volt items (phone recharger, MP3 player, etc) your have in your RV? Are dash 12 volt plugs able to handle a constant load?

My dear hubby has become interested in geocaching! He ordered a hand held GPS unit. I just looked at the geocaching web site. Tons of info. Just wanted to know, we wanted to do this as a family adventure. People don't put gross/weird stuff in the caches? do they? I'd hate to find our first 'treasure', ope...
