Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are Paul and Jo. Not yet at full retirement age, but feel it's time to get out of the rat-race and experience more of what the world has to offer and work on our Bucket list! We love hiking and exploring new areas.Being on the move is nothing new to us as over the last six years we have moved four times due to...
What resource do you use to locate campsites when you are on the road? We are heading out in a couple of weeks, and plan to go, then when time/fatigue dictates look at what campsites are coming up and then see if we can get a reservation (and boondock if not). What are your favorites?
We took our fifth wheel over to a feed store in a nearby town to get the truck and camper weighed so that we would have an idea of how much we could get into the camper. After weighing total weight of both vehicles and then backing off axle by axle to get a good idea of weights, we started to leave town. As we we...
Have questions about macerators: 1. What brand do you have and has it been reliable? 2. If you were to get a new system, what brand would you get and why? 3. Did you install it yourself? 4. If you self-installed, how tough was it to do? 5. How long have you been using yours and what sort of problems have...
We enjoyed our dream of travelling with our kids and are now pursuing another dream of owning a farmhouse. We want to sell our big comfy 5er and purchase a smaller 5er or travel trailer for weekend trips or vacations. We won't close on the property for another 6 weeks, so we will continue living in our...
Dave and I will be leaving Sikeston, MO this Monday (in two days!!) headed for Ozark View RV Park near Burlington, AR. The plan is to be there for two weeks before moving on towards Colorado. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, take off your shoes, say something nice about Texas and/or Scotland and...
Maybe not a new topic, but had to ask anyway...Have any of you big 5th wheel haulers towing with integrated brake controllers from Ford had any issues with the message center beeping and saying, 'trailer dissconnected"? Out trailer has electric over hydaulic Dexter actuator for triple axl...
We are heading out to fulltime, starting out in Medford Oregon. We will be driving west to Bakersfield, then heading North, and are looking into possible stops on our five day hourney. Does anyone have any tips on campsites? We would also like to boondock as much as possible...any great spots to sugge...
This is an 8-1/2 foot Coachmen Cadet Truck Camper in like new condition. This camper was used a few times then was put in inside storage. No wear anywhere, only a little truck bed rubs where it sat in the truck bed. Roof a/c, furnace with thermostat, water heater, 3 burner stove, 3 way refrigerator, powe...
We're on the move a lot in our fifth wheel (7 to 10 days in any one park). We'd like to get the dogs groomed regularly and wondered what works best. Use a 'chain' type service (like PetsMart) or ask around at the park for a local service? Thanks so much - you all have been so helpful with our questions!
I know this will be very case by case, but a former fulltimer said many times there are small bars that have live music near (ish) campsites. I will be working nights, and my sweet husband loves music-is what my friend said true? Have you found that many times there is a little bar with bands relatively c...
We let it sit for about a month and am not sure if we left the water pump on or not. I don't think so but can't be certain. We tried to start the generator and got nothing. We checked the house lights and got nothing so we're pretty sure the batteries are drained. We drove it to our house which is about a 30 m...
Need to post this here, and in the boondocking forum. It shows how your brain can get addled when thinking too much about getting into RVing ... Jo and I were out looking at camping sites and checking up on available amenities and how other campers cope when they pull in with an RV. We also looked at adjace...
More researching brings more questions. While discussing the different States for domicile, I came up with a question and have not found the answer. "Where and how do you file your taxes every April if you are traveling and find yourself in a State different from your domicile State?" Aga...
I have a 2010 Ford F250 Super Cab 4x2 with the 5.4L EFI V-8 gas engine 5 speed automatic transmission and the 3.73 limited slip axle. The GVWR is 10,000 for my truck. I want to buy a Heartland Bighorn 2985RL. The GVWR for the Bighorn is 14,000. Is this to much for my truck? Is there anything I can add to my truc...
Getting ready to outfit our new home with satelite (horrible experiences with Comcast Cable over the last year). Does anyone feel strongly either way about Direct or Dish?
We plan on being in the San Diego area in December. Has anyone camped at Woods Valley Kampground in Valley Center, CA? They are in Passport America and we are considering staying there. Does anyone have a recommendation of a reasonably priced campground in the San Diego area? I know California is...

I sometimes "drop in" on other RV related forums. It does not take long to come across a thread to find someone who is nasty or is flaming another poster. Most times for no apparent reason except they might disagree with them. Once I posted my reasons for changing domicile from TX to SD an...
Hello Everyone- I'm a newbie so I apologize if this topic has been discussed on earlier posts. My DH and I are just beginning to make the decision to become FT'ers once my youngest son becomes an adult. For us that will be in about 4 years so we are just now going through all the forums and journals to get a...
Ok, the only thing I saw posted on this topic pertained more to the price of gas vs. diesel so I decided to post a new topic along the same subject, gas vs. diesel. I know that in the long run diesel engines can pull more but lets say that for the purpose of this discussion, it pertains to pulling 15K lbs or les...
I have a new 3/4 ton 2010 duramax diesel and need to find a toy hauler that will haul a polaris ranger crew that is 12' long so i need a bigger garage and something that I can pull with the 3/4 ton. I am told you can put bags under it and pull something larger. Any help would appreciated.
This is something I've been running around into my head....I still have 6 or 7 years until official retirement age, and I thought I'd run it by you now. I don't know if it's a realistic idea or not. Right now I'm in a stationary fiver in a beautiful RV park in northern California on the coast. I love it her...
On one of Howard's journal entries he showed the flat iron steaks you had grilled. I can't remember the date of that entry....I think he had written that you had a marinade for them. If so, can you post that somewhere? thanks so much.... Mel

We're currently in a campground in Canada visiting family. We've stayed here before, like the place etc etc. This time we're here for 2 months and 8 days.(the longest we've ever stayed at one place in 3.5 years) I went to settle up the bill expecting to pay for 2 months, 8 days at the monthly rate. The c...
So this afternoon I have been working on setting up our HughesNet system. Fine. Got a signal of 29 and couldn't go any higher. Needed at least 31. Silly me, wrestled with elevation, etc. etc. until I finally gave up a bit ago. DUH. If I had looked in the manual (yet again) I would have noticed tha...
