Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Average pricing?

We are trying to calculate our budget, and wondered what kind of prices we might expect (understanding that there are huge differences, just looking for an average here). We will be in an area for approx 13 weeks at a time, what, in your opinion, can we expect to pay for a 3 month stay in a campground (per night, per month)?

You can pay anywhere from 275.00 to 1500.00 a month. Sherri and I stay in the 275.00 bracket so we can eat. I guess it is really up to what you can afford and what you want at the park. We like a sewer hookup...water and 50 amp electric. If we get lucky we may have WIFI and cable TV. We have to stay at least a month so we can get our next check. This gives us enough money to move to another spot.

Good to hear. We are budgeting for around $1000 per month, with the hopes of Workamping as much as is possible. I'm still not having much luck having a really good site that gives a clear rundown of price and location (I know of a few thanks to this site, but it is a little confusing). Is Good Sam worth the membership? How are their sites and prices?

You shouldn't have any problems with that budget. We stay in a mix of mostly commercial campgrounds with occasional state and federal parks and have averaged just over $800 a month for the last 4 years. We moved on average every 6 days so would have paid much more than you will if you are staying for 3 months at a location.

Good Sam, Escapees and Passport America memberships are no brainers for anyone fulltiming and moving around regularly.

We budgeted $ 600.00 per month but for the last two months have been staying in nice parks at an average of $ 400.00 so we figure for the year we are now $ 400.00 ahead so far which gives us a cushion in case we find an area where it may cost more.
At the end of August we have to go back to Colorado for Dr Appointments and will not be able to do extended stays which will eat into the average a little but will still be on budget overall.

My daughter just called today they arrived at Orange Grove RV park in Bakersfield for a three month assignment.....they will pay about $425 per month....it's a very nice campground with all hookups and FREE oranges in season!  That is a monthly rate.

Earlier this year they were in Santee Lakes Campground (outside of San Diego) and the monthly rate there was quite a bit higher....$800 or $850  which I think the $50.00 is the electricity assesment.  They were there for 6 months...maybe a few more amenities...but not enough for the difference in price.  Just I guess closer to the awesome beach and attractions in and around San Diego.

We are currently at Chula Vista RV Resort near San Diego, CA.

I guess once they add Resort to the name of a campground, the monthly rate receives an automatic bump up in price.

The rate is $1400 per month plus you pay extra for electricity used. So it runs about $1500.

This would be on the very high end of the scale for RV sites.

The nice part of extended stays is you reduce your fuel bill, so with that savings you might be able to stay in a better campground or not have to workamp as much.

We've budgeted $750 a month and expect to reduce that with weekly and monthly stays as well as pocket the fuel money.

Best Regards!

I would say a budget of 1K per month should definitely be good. I priced some out here in South Florida just in case I wanted to continue working but live in an RV and found one right on the water (Atlantic side) use of boat slip, etc and it was 900 per month in the high season and 700 per month in the low season. And this place was very very nice.

There are nice parks inland in Florida you can rent for $ 450.00 to $ 500.00 +elec and you are only an hour from the coast. I figure I can buy a lot of Diesel for the other $400.00 they want for the ones closer to the beach.smile
