Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
After speaking to several Dreamer's here at the Escapade in Goshen IN today, I have failed to officially post our blog. So, here it is: www.postalpairretired.blogspot.com Please feel free to leave your comments on our blog. My husband is the writer.....I cannot take any of the credit for it... ...
We have settled in here at our work site in near Darlington, SC, providing night/weekend security at a manufacturing plant currently not in operation. We are here through October, giving respite to the team who is usually here. Perhaps not a "typical" workamping gig, but we are loving...
We took our Mobile Suites into Lewis RV in Oklahoma City this morning to have a couple of little issues taken care of, specifically a back-up camera monitor that won't power up and to take care of the recall on the Xantrex inverter. When we got there, there was a brand new (purchased 9-2-10 according to...
I love to write about a lot of different passions I have.....so I thought why not call it POTLUCK! www.melspotluck.blogspot.com -- Edited by Melstar on Saturday 11th of September 2010 11:19:11 AM
OK, this MAY be a dumb question but here goes..... Living in an RV should we avoid taking a shower during a thunder storm? I usually do avoid getting in the shower, but have been caught a few times and as it is thundering right now, I just am curious if there is actual danger of getting hurt if the RV is struc...
Hi everyone. I'm actually saying hi again to this forum and to my RV dream! I first became interested in the idea in a serious way back in 2007. I researched it for about a year and then life kind of got in the way. Now I'm feeling that call again and so I'm back to doing my homework and making some tentative p...
We have Direct TV, the DVR is in the living room and just a receiver in the bedroom, because the way the dish on the top of the fiver is wired this is the set up we have. Our dish is a TRAV'LER® Satellite TV Antennasand when we have bad weather forecasted I stow the dish. Given all that, I am wondering if anyone...
I've searched and cannot find an answer to a question that has come up for us. We're looking at switching to a MH with a toad from our current 5th wheel. As I've been researching I keep finding references to not being able to back up the MH while towing your vehicle. I'm confused... Why wouldn't one be...
When we bought our 03 Jayco we bought a memory foam mattress. This seem to be very hot at night. Does anyone else have this problem? Would adding a mattress pad help?
I'd like to get an update on the only thread I can find on printers in RVs which is from 2008. Everyone then seemed to have HP all-in-ones and most were pretty happy with them. Main suggestions were get an all-in-one and get a small one. Is that still the consensus? HP? Does anyone have anything el...
Well it didn't take us long. We brought the DP home last weekend and took off this weekend with friends and family in tow. Overall we had a great time. But I do have a question: When you are driving on the interstate and see the "No Trucks Left Lane" signs, how does it apply to RV's? Is a 40' DP allo...
I am going to need tires for the TT, we tore up one on our week end trip. Now get out the popcorn and cokes this is going to get good I hope. I stopped by NTB for a quote on tires. They quoted me the TowmaxSTR205 75 R14 born on 0910. I know nothing about these, has anyone used these tires? Made in Japan. I was quote...
We are just starting this adventure, and many so many things to learn!! We talked to a CPA who specializes in travel nurses (which will be me) and he actually suggested NOT renting our home (so that it doesn't become an "investment property", plus depreciating as a rental). Any advice on th...
Many of you follow us on our blog www.mytripjournal.com/AlbasiniRVAdventure - but there may be others out there who do not know us and are interested in reading about workamping. Maybe you are thinking of doing this yourself but are unsure. As we realize that there are good and bad workamping jobs...
Well, I am putting this out there against my better judgement...Our Newmar ToyHauler has a 4-blade 120v ceiling fan and for some odd reason it seems to not spin as fast as it used to. Any comments...I could not find a fuse and it is not tripped a circuit breaker. I could not find a mfg on the unit or in the o...
The first step is completed....we bought the tow vehicle !! 2008 Ford-450, 6.4L V8 32V DDI OHV. Al is so pumped . Question: extended warranties? We're thinking it's a good idea, but would like opinions please. It's directly from Ford, and will be covered at any Ford dealer nationwide, wherever we are...
This past holiday week end, G-Ma and I made our first RV trip by ourselves. We had a blast made 5 State Parks in 3 days. We did not stay in any of them, just a visited so we now know we prefer the State Parks, CCC, Or COE parks for camping and RVing. We had a flat on the TT on our way home, we had such a good time it di...
I stumbled on someone's blog(cant remember who's) that had pictures taken with a HD camera. The pics were of the mountains in MT and they were awesome! Dont think they were edited in photoshop either. They almost looked 3D. I have an Olympus C60 zoom and it does a good job. Have been saving for a Nik...
Well as I saw in an earlier post .. maybe the 3rd time is the charm... We have been trying for 3 years to get to a Rally and this year we are doing it.. I just made our reservation at the campground.. they only had 3 small cabins left... We are not bring the 5th wheel just the big truck...and doing the cabin ca...
I have used my freshwater tank and my city water inlet for water and I get great pressure from my kitchen sink, outside shower and inside shower however I get very little pressure out of my bathroom sink. There is a switch on the bathroom sink that says pump and I have pushed it but that does no good. Any sug...
Well because I was lazy and didn't want to haul the compressor and generator over to the storage lot where we store the 5th wheel, I now have to buy 4 new tires. I rationalized in my mind the trip was only 130 miles, I knew the tries needed air but figured I would stay at 55MPH instead of my usual 61MPH and the t...
Hi Eveyone Can anyone tell me if you had the problem with the floor engine cover buckling when you stand on it? It is located between the driver and passenger seats and is made of fiberglass. Danon says they never heard of the problem and said not to stand on it. Well it is pretty tough not to step on this pan...
I am watching that old movie with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez, it is hilarious. I had to think of all the full timers. Desi was griping because the trailer was $5000.00.
Just an invite to take a look at our blog and give me all the advice you know I need. http://www.directionofourdreams.blogspot.com/ I've really been inspired by all the blogs of the great folks on this forum that I follow. Sure hope to meet you all in person on the road or at the 2011 Rally in TN.
I have spent so many hours online my eyeballs are going to bleed (LOL) but yet no closer to an answer to the infamous question "MH or 5'ver?" I will be heading out next year to be a first-time full-timer. I am a single female in my early 40's and will be doing this alone (two cats will be accompa...
We are going to finance our impending RV, but with this economy.... Is it difficult to get financing? We have money to put down and decent credit, but I've heard from a few people that financing is pretty tight these days.
Jo and I just purchased a new SUV and it is not equipped with the onboard navigation system that our Explorer had. So, now I find myself returning, once again, to my online friends who have yet to fail me. With using the forum "search" feature, I found quite a bit of the questions below already...
