Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Just wondering if any RV Dreamers are going to the Escapade this year?? It's in Goshen Indiana Sept 12-17th. We will be attending and arriving on 9/11. Just wondering.....
We have a good friend near Seattle that works at an RV repair and supply business. We were telling him all about our plans and he said DON'T DO IT!! Then he proceeded to tell us that RV's are made like crap and all the things that go wrong with them, how hard and expensive they are to fix, and really threw a...
This question may have been previously answered but I'll ask again anyway. What would the semi annual or annual cost to service a cat or cummins diesel engine? A service where all fluids and filters were changed. I do most vehicle maintenance myself but once on the road I'm just curious if I decide to ha...
This was a weekend for firsts: First trip in the new DP; First time camping with 8 (yes I said 8) in the RV. First time driving after dark. I drove most of the time with the bright lights on and nobody noticed. That's because the lights appeared to be aimed way too low! And that leads me to my question: Any dir...
A lot of you know how I struggled with the decision of satellite Internet versus air card. We went with HughesNet and have been very happy with it so far, being able to access the Web in places where folks could not with their air cards. I was honored and tickled to be asked to contribute a guest blog artic...
Folks, Yesterday I was reading in the daily list of post about insurance. Today it is gone and I can't find it. I was in a hurry when I was reading yesterday and didn't notice who posted it or which forum they posted it in. I am talking about full timing and I can't even remember what I read yesterday!!...
So I'm on my way to work in Auburn and I'm seeing all types of RVs coming by - Fifth Wheels, Class As, travel trailers, even a pop up. And I finally figure out that these are all people coming into Auburn for the game and they either boondock at the college or camp in the campgrounds. This is our first footbal...
How are you doing Christmas this year? We are looking at budgetting right now, and I am dreading this. We can afford to do what we have always done - as much as we could afford it last year and the year before. So we will end up broke for 3 months, yet again. I just don't know where to cut down. The gif...
I am almost finished my commitment and am very anxious to revisit my Daughter, Son-in-Law, and Gr-Kids. I last seen them on Thanksgiving 2005, and we celebrated Christmas early. Finances are restricted this time and the length of time staying being reduced. Yes, excited and saddened rolled into o...
I apologize up front, just venting, really. We are currently covered under our employer. Although I have been investigating individual health policies in depth all along, as our launch date approaches it is time to get down to the nitty-gritty of getting something. The thing is, you can't do this...
Not sure this topic is in the right place, but Howard will move it if need be, I am sure. There is much talk about which state is best for fulltimers to use as a domicile. I see some folks use relatives' addresses, especially if they live in tax-favored states. A concern I have with that - maybe unfounded...
I'm posting this in the buying forum because it pertains to our choice of what to buy. We fell in love with the 2007 Conquest Ultra Super C. I like it because it's not a monster to drive and allows everyone to ride together in comfort. Until recently I never gave much thought to towing a car, but we're consi...
One of the best days I had last year was finding this site. If I remember correctly it was cold and wet, so I did some Internet surfing instead of the real surfing. As today's weather is pretty much the same I have decided to crack a tinny early and say Hi to my RV friends at RV Dreams. What a rippa site. Mum an...
Does anyone have experience running a 15,000BTU a/c with a Honda 3,000 gen set? The dealer says that this gen will power this a/c with no problem. The exact unit is Honda EU3000IS. Thanks, CCC
Our recently purchase motorhome has spots on privacy curtains on the windshield. Looks like water stains. Anyone have idea on how to remove or has anyone tried to dye them? Also a good place to order new ones would be helpful..Thanks inadvance!
I am looking for a campground for a couple of nights somewhere between Goshen and Madison. Anyone have any idea. I've been doing a lot of searching on the RV Park reviews but I'm just not sure what to do.
Okay, I am confused. We are looking into a Verizon Air Card for use in the sticks and bricks and the RV. I understand that we can get an Air Card Router from 3gStore.com, but I am lost in regards to the antenna/booster. Do you need one...and if so, which one...a mag mount or a Trucker Antenna? Does either an...
Read another thread about photo sharing sites. Some of our friends use them with great success. I have always just downloaded photos from my camera disk by putting it in the SD slot in my laptop. I have windows Vista and they just go to my hard drive. Last Winter I got a new laptop with Windows 7. When...
This morning we had temperatures in the 20's and it is only a matter of time until we get hit with the full force of winter in the Rocky Mountains. I am wondering if I should keep my RV up here with me, find covered storage or just keep it stored in Denver. My question is how much can an RV take when it comes to l...
Among the many things that we have learned in our first year on the road is that the Allison transmission in our 2000 Foretravel should be manually shifted when climbing hills. Falure to do so when climbing long grades can lead to a situation called "lugging." When your engine is lugging it...
Hi Howard, I'm wondering whether you have an all-in-one printer with fax capabilities or use some sort of efax and how often you use fax at all. thanks Sherry
we have a wonderful a national tropi-cal motorhome. when we bought it we assumed we would be long term part-timers. we love the lifestyle so much that we have decided that within the next 5 to 7 years (depending on when hubby can retire) we will be full-timing. we also know that our motorhome is not our id...
We need to get from Astoria, OR area to Rapid City, SD. I 90 is looking like it is the way to go since we don't have lots of extra time, I would love a first time peek at Yellowstone. Has anyone done this route, any down sides we should know about? We are running pretty maxed out and have some concern about th...

Please take a moment to remember all the men women and children who were killed 9 years ago today during the attacks on America. We must never forget this day and we must never let down our guard. Jim
Although it's several months away, we are getting quite excited as we consider attending our first RV show. We live in South FL, so this one is relatively local for us. We looked at the preliminary show floorplan just yesterday. Lots and lots to see, so we'll plan to spend at least 2 (maybe 3) full days. W...
We are Future Fulltimers and are looking at the Aztec and Canyon Trail Fifth Wheels from Gulf Stream. They look very well built and have the things in it that we are looking for. We have searched all of the dealer lots in our area and have kind of narrowed it down to those. My question is: Are there others ou...
