Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Checking in from South Carolina

We have settled in here at our work site in near Darlington, SC, providing night/weekend security at a manufacturing plant currently not in operation.  We are here through October, giving respite to the team who is usually here.  Perhaps not a "typical" workamping gig, but we are loving it.  We feel very fortunate to have landed here.

A manufacturing plant?  You might say "Ewwww," but it's actually cool.  We have a nice site, big shade tree, deer, rabbits, foxes and a multitude of various birds, including a great horned owl making its presence known the other evening.

Dave is getting in some good cycling and happened upon a group that goes out about three times a week; he has already been out once with them.  He found a nice circuit for the two of us to do together, and I'm looking forward to being on the bike again.

Not sure what November 1 will have in store for us but for right now we are safe, cozy, content and adding some income to the kitty.

What more could one desire?  Life is good!

What a great place to be this time of year. The northern reaches of our country are starting to cool down and the southern areas are getting comfortable.
We lived in Charleston for several years and visited Myrtle Beach often.
When you where in NC did you go to Dilsboro outside of Charokee?
I have a friend who owns a candy store/coffee shop there
called the Dilsboro Candy Factory.
Have a great time in SC. It sould be sweet potato time there also.

Wayne

Enjoy your time in South Carolina. I lived in Newberry (due west of Darlington) for a couple of years. Let's just say it was eye opening for a girl from North Dakota!

I do love that part of the country. Lots of pine trees and quiet roads. And Darlington International Speedway wink.gif

Your assignment sounds interesting. Curious as to how you found it?

Oh, we're going to head through Brenham tomorrow.  Not sure if a stop for ice cream is on the agenda or not.  Will have to see what the day brings...

Ckerr,

Wave to Brenham when you pass through!  I lived on Main Street in the block just outside of downtown.  Still think of Brenham as "home."

I think perhaps this company had a listing on WorkamperNews, but don't quote me on that.  I have put us "out there" on some other sites, as well as WKN.  This wouldn't be for everyone, but it suits us just fine.  Sure is a nice change from managing a storage facility.  Dave said today that wow, it's Saturday and no one is banging on the door to our home wanting something.

Sweet.  biggrin

I don't identify with your geography but I do identify with your philosophy. Yep make the best of where ever you are and what ever your doing. Whether its a factory complex or a beach side van park we see the sunny side of life when we RV. Cant wait to hear where you are Nov 1 because I know already that you will love the adventure that comes with the location.
