Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
If I understand correctly, electric trailer brakes are OFF unless the tow vehicle brakes are applied. That means that when the trailer is unhooked at a campsite, the brakes are off. Wheel chocks are then the only means of keeping the trailer from rolling away, right?
OK .. who has one and do you use it... I know we are campers right now ... but we are looking into FTing in the next 2 years.. As we look at rigs it seems all the sales people want to talk about the Big Flat Screen TV in the LR... well that is not a selling point to me.. I hate TV's in the LR... we have a den and that is w...
Well, if you read my last post about the tank vent noise, you already know that at about 2:15 AM this morning Dave discovered we were flooded. Not black tank waste/water, clear water. The toilet overflowed. Envision your toilet running all night and finally overflowing. Same result here. We borr...
When I was 11 yrs old, I went with my brother & dad to rent a pop up camper for a vacation. I didn't think that I was paying that much attention when the salesman showed them how to set it up but I must have been because I had to show them how to do it when we finally got to the campground. I guess that was t...

Today we notice a hummmmming. Just flushed the toilet and noticed the hum minimized/went away with the - oh what's it called - I know the correct term - flush pedal pushed down and the clapper? open. Are we about to explode? Is something stuck in the vent? Is this "normal"? I flushed the ta...
Considering purchasing a used DP. One question for those of you that have a DP. Are most if not all DP considered 4 season? Not that we're considering wintering in the north in one but you never know
We are at the Cave Creek Regional Park just North of Phoenix. We spent much of the last week in Phoenix visiting friends and doing the city thing. We are going to stay another week and were looking for day trip suggestion from this area. We have never been in this area before so it is all new. Any suggestion...
My wife and I are approaching retirement and are considering going full-time then. In the meantime, though, we're looking at small fiberglass trailers, such as the Casita, Eggcamper, and Scamp. So far, though, we've not been able to find any of them anywhere close to us, and buying one sight-unseen...
Yes, I know it's not everyone's favourite subject, nor is it a subject of profound importance but ... I have a rant. Why is it that these RV/marine toilets (mine is a Thetford) have two totally inaccessible plastic bolt/nut systems to attach the seat and lid to the commode itself. I have to try and tight...
I have a aircard from Sprint and it is a 3G. When I was using it new software was downloaded online and since then it will not work. I took my PC and the aircard to Sprint and was told it was a PC issue so I went to Best Buy and the PC expert told me that it was a aircard issue. Back I went to Sprint who once again...

Dave and I are snugly settled in at Bass Lake Campground in Dillon, SC. This is an older park which had gotten a bad reputation but was purchased a little over a year ago by a couple from England and they are turning the place around. Actually, it's quite clean, cozy and nice, definitely with the "...

Did anyone else see these shows? Oprah in Yosemite in a pop up. They were pretty good but the part I loved was that Oprah said several times "people who camp are sooo nice" Maybe that is why we yearn for this lifestyle to be surrounded by "people who are sooo nice"
43 years ago today, I married my soul mate. As we move closer to a new live together living on wheels, I just wanted to share this moment with my RV-Dreams family. Thank you for the welcome extended to us and the fam,ily warmth we sense from this forum. You are all special people. So enjoy this photo from N...
Interesting new adventure! I didn't think the traffic was quite that heavy on I-80 last time we went through there. Didn't see more than 4 or 5 rvs in the two days on interstate(must be taking a different road?) Those trucks made me feel pretty small when tucked in between with our Colorado. DP hand...
Hi Howard You more than likely have been asked this question, but here goes-----------We have bought a 2008 Damon 37 ft MH toy carrier. We love it and it only has 14,000 miles. Ita a 8.1 workhorse with a 6 speed allison trans. There is some warranty left on the chassis but I need to plan ahead. I know there a...
I was talking to my friend today about my plans to sell S&B and buy a 5er to FT in 5 yrs(have to wait til daughter graduates in 5 yrs). She was concerned what will I do when I get too old to do this and how long will my RV last. so I have two questions : 1)any FTers over 80 out there? 2) will a good 5er last 20 yrs?...
I'm interested in hearing from those of you that have satellite and/or air cards. I know there is a start up cost factor to consider. I'm kind of interested in knowing the kind of problems you have with each and what you like about the system you have.
I have found a 1999 Hurricane. It seems to be priced reasonibly and I think it might work for the 3 of us. The problem is that I we have never heard about this model and know nothing of Four Winds ( I think that is the Maker). Does anyone know anything about these motor homes? Thanks for the help! Judy
Went looking at an RV dealership yesterday since I've only looked at photos and hubby hasn't looked at anything. We started with Fifth Wheels then moved to the travel trailers. We did decide we wanted a fifth wheel, even though they cost more. We saw a lot that we liked but there was one Durango we really...
Does anyone out there use a VuCube for satellite TV? I was thinking of getting one as a backup. One of my concerns would be someone walking off with it. I do like the fact that it gets it power through the coax cable.
Lucy & Dezi might know the answer to this one . . . For various reasons, I need the back end of the pick-up and can't tow a 5th wheel; so, I'm stuck w/ looking at TT's. I like one in particular that's 35' long. My weights are all OK on both towing veh & toad. Issue to me is whether this is too long. You...
As I sit here in my S&B I have to listen to the barking dog behind me. At least I can complain with the city and they will put a door hanger on their door. My question is what does one do if campers allow their dogs to bark? It really gets on my nerves after a while. We have 3 dogs and we never let them to be nu...
Hello We are torn between getting a fifth wheel or a MH and have never had an rv before so I was wondering if those that have fifth wheels could explain to me your procedure for setting up and the time it takes you? Are there options that would make it easier and faster? Is there any heavy lifting or someth...
