Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Dave and I are snugly settled in at Bass Lake Campground in Dillon, SC. This is an older park which had gotten a bad reputation but was purchased a little over a year ago by a couple from England and they are turning the place around. Actually, it's quite clean, cozy and nice, definitely with the "it" factor for us (see my blog for photos). Spacious 50-amp site with perfect spot for our HughesNet satellite, we were given a fire ring, clean restrooms, and - although only one washer and dryer in the laundry room - clean and inexpensive laundry facility. I did two loads yesterday and Dave did his cycling clothes with no wait. Although right on I-95, we do not notice any noise that disrupts sleep and we are on the front row. There are trees that provide a noise break.
Dillon is fairly small but has a Wal-Mart, a great Italian restaurant (we splurged on a pizza the first night here), Food Lion and really just about anything you might want.
So if you've stayed here before but have not returned because of the bad rep, come on in! The monthly rate is the best we found around. Passport America is welcome here. The owner and folks here are nice. Including us!
I would be a great and enthusiastic marketing person, don't ya think? Since I'm not officially doing that for this park, I can't offer any perks or incentives. It's just a nice place and we're comfy here.
We are in between jobs right now but have some feelers/leads out with possibilities. I am doing virtual assistant work to bring in a few bucks. Not much at this point but I'm working on building my portfolio of assignments and hey, every dollar is a good dollar, right?
If we end up spending the winter here, well, we could be much worse off. We see no financial sense in towing to FL or AZ, for instance, for a job that pays site only.
So if you happen to be going south (or north, for that matter) on I-95, stop for the night just south of the NC border and come on in (after removing yer shoes ) for a visit!
Stay safe and warm out there, ya'll!
Cheers, Betty

My, girl, but you are shameless in your advertising. In a post on Howard and Linda's website, no less.
As for your marketing skills for the campground, I'm not sure of that since you didn't offer any "incentives". But, I'm sure that with time you will learn.
Nice blog, by the way. However, as on many that I check out, I couldn't post a comment since I'm not affiliated with any of the listed "profiles" for posting. So, since I couldn't post there, I'll ask my question here. Was that travel trailer a homemade unit? I can't imagine any manufacturer actually making one like that, but hey, what do I know. (Oh, one other thing. The link for the first picture isn't working when I click on the image in the body of your posting.)
As for going on to Florida, I've never been there, so this is pure speculation. If there are enough snowbirds down there, I would think that unless you absolutely were sure of some kind of employment to assist you, I wouldn't go either. I would think that even workamping might be limited at this time of year.
Whatever, you guys take care and have fun.
Terry

You're right, there. Took that part out. Apologies, H&L. Slapping my own wrists, here.
<As for your marketing skills for the campground, I'm not sure of that since you didn't offer any "incentives". But, I'm sure that with time you will learn.>
Since I am not promoting the park in an official capacity (i.e. not a staff member), I cannot offer any incentives. Yep, I know all about that, believe me. We just find it to be a nice place and feel very fortunate for landing here. I'm all for helping someone who is really trying to make a sincere go of something.

Hmmm...they are working. Just checked on both my laptop and Dave's. If you are talking about the link to the campground, it seems to be working too, so I don't know what might be happening on your end.
With regards to the cabin-RV, it apparently is a regular RV frame, just modified to look like a cabin. Interesting.
Thanks for the input. Glad you enjoyed looking at my blog.
Take care, Betty

I was really just kidding about the "shameless advertising". I really didn't see anything wrong since your comments were well within a posting telling us all what you were doing. I guess I need to find the button for "sarcasm" on the postings.
I'll try the photo again at home, but the only one that won't open for me is the first one of the wood look travel trailer. I would say it was my browser, but the others all seem to open.
Again, I'm sorry if you misunderstood my attempt at kidding. I guess not knowing me very well could lead to the wrong conclusion.
Carry on, young lady.

If you are looking for something to do then take a journey over to Society Hill, SC and visit the Palmetto Furniture Store. It's in several old Army type barracks, but it's huge. Low prices, quality and unique furniture. Don't take the credit card. You'll want to reburb your entire rig.
Bennettsville is on the way. Neat town with large plantation type older homes and buildings.
