Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello!

My wife and I are approaching retirement and are considering going full-time then. In the meantime, though, we're looking at small fiberglass trailers, such as the Casita, Eggcamper, and Scamp. So far, though, we've not been able to find any of them anywhere close to us, and buying one sight-unseen makes us a bit nervous. Any thoughts or suggestions?

David,

First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forum family.  Feel free to ask all the questions you want.  There are a lot of helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable folks here.

I'll see if I can help some with a few links.

For Casita:

Their website:

http://www.casitatraveltrailers.com/

An owners club site for Casita (Sorry, haven't checked it out for content).  This may be a place for you to question Casita owners and maybe one lives near you.

http://www.casitaclub.com/

For Eggcamper:

Their website:

http://www.eggcamper.com/

I couldn't find an owner's group for Eggcamper, so for that one you'll have to search general RV forums.

For Scamp:

Their website:

http://www.scamptrailers.com/

An owner's group, but I didn't see a forum.  Just a possiblity of a newsletter.

http://www.scampcamper.com/

And, some other possibilities that you can use your internet search engine for, although I know absolutely nothing about them:

Acorn, Burro, Trillium, Boler

Hope this helps.

Terry

David,

Can't help with the trailers, but would like to welcome you to the forum.

It looks like Terry as found some good web sites for you and maybe someone else has more info.

Good luck with your search.

Jim

In the 6 trailers that I have owned, I have not owned one of the small fiberglass trailers that you mention above. My wife and I have visited with a couple who owned a Casita and they loved it. There was room in the trailer for the four of us to sit comfortably and converse.
We considered getting a small trailer a couple years ago when fuel prices were so high. Had we bought one, we were leaning toward the Scamp fifth wheel model.
Another fiberglass trailer we looked at on the Internet is the Oliver (http://www.olivertraveltrailers.com/index.html). It looks like a very nice "high-end" fiberglass trailer.

Hello, I am also in the newbee looking stage. I have also been looking for a Casita. There available down south but rarely in my state of Iowa.
I have not ever seen one. I just read the Casita forums and everybody loves there Casita.
Go to Fiberglassrv.com./ Lots of info. there along with CasitaClub.com.

I am still in the looking stage. If you find one let me know.
Scamps are made in MInnesota.
Casitas are made in Rice Texas.
The Olivers are next to impossible to find. And they are high price. They quit manufacturing because the economy went bad.

Keep in touch with your progress of locating your "EGG".
