Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
A big concern for me going full time is where to work out! I lift weights for approx. 2 hours a day 5 days a week. A must for what I do. I have my own complete gym in my house, which is going to be the hardest thing for me to part with when the selling starts. Thought of joining Golds gym but not sure I would find eno...
The Kiplinger organization has been around for several decades, at least, and is an organization that deals in financial analysis. Today, I ran across a news story dealing with a new (October 2010) report from Kiplinger about states that were friendly to retirees. This information is valuable t...
When I started my blog about a month ago, my hunt for a motorhome was occuping most of my thoughts. So most of the posts were about how I was hunting and what I was hunting for. Some of that may be useful to others to give ideas on such a search. Now that I actually own one, I'll need to start accessorizing,...
We are parked in Winton Campground at Cincinnati. The park declared tonight for Trick or Treat. We handed out candy to the kids as they walked around the park. They have fun anywhere they are and the decorations are great. What a great evening!
Hi everyone! This question has been nagging at me for a while - as you might know, I am stationary in an RV park in Half Moon Bay, CA. I don't have a truck and when I bought my 5er from the dealer, he towed it to my park and got it set up. I expect to be in the park for probably another couple of years. I save a lo...
I thought that Howard, Linda and the members of the RV-Dreams forum might be interested in a blog I saw mentioned in a segment on an Australian TV lifestyle show this week. These people immediately reminded me of Howard and Linda. Their idea is called the "Life Change Experiment" (not sure...
We have VERIZON cell ph and also their air card for the computer.Headed to Alaska in the spring. What is the current situation on their use in Canada? We spent several summers in Canada and found the cost prohibitive.CCC
I know I've seen a template somewhere...on here I think. But my "search" did not bring it up. I'd like a user friendly "living in an RV on the road expenses" expenses/income template to use. Just want to plug in "what if" figures IF we managed to sell our Home/Property...
Hey folks, We've landed our first workamping gig for next summer...YAY!! My question for the experienced out there, this being our first 50 amp rig, is that the site is 30 amp. What issues could we foresee having, anything major? We're not big electric users to start, and have one 15K BTU AC in the rig. T...
I looked ar a beautiful Damond today. The price was within our budger and it seemed to be spotless. I was looking through the kitchem and opened the fridge door. I just about lost my lunch! It smelled like a dead mouse was in there. I just left and went home. Can someone ever get that smell out. Ther...
Just curious what full timers spend on fuel monthy. I know it will depend on how much , often ones travels. But if anyone cares to just give an idea what they have spent in a month or past 3 months.
After full timing for 4 years we are back in our condo and working fulltime. We were not retired and decided to go for it for as long as we could and we made it 3 years longer than we thought we would or could. So now the big fifth wheel is ready to go to the next person who is ready to pursue the dream. Please ch...
AS I sit here scanning the various comments, I have come to the conclusion that everyone in the world must be younger than we/I were/are. All of the we/I and were/are may sound confuseing but being a recent widower, the things I'm talking about were made by the two of us over 25 years ago. &n...

The black and white backup camera on my MH is starting to go south on me. I want to replace it with one that is color. It's a hard wired system so connection compatibility needs to be considered. I would prefer a wireless system that will reach at least 50 ft, but I haven't found many weather proof system...
Hello everyone! I was asked if I'd create an account and monitor this section of this forum on occassion to help members with staying connected on the go. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask away ;)
Hi to all, I'm a new guy on the block, just got approved for a loan for an RV. Looking at the Hurricane 32R or the Windsport 32R, what is the difference between the two models?
I'm wondering why Howard seems to always use MapQuest to plan his routes. I've been using Google and MapQuest and find that they often give different routes. Before I "Ask Howard" I thought I'd ask you guys to weigh in on what you use and why. Maybe some of you even use something totally dif...
I was just watching GMA and saw all the bad weather in so many places. I always think of the RV- Dreams Family... just want you to know that someone is thinking of you and praying for your safety.
Where do we start? 350 Cummins with 42,000 miles. No oil change when buying(scheduled ourselves) There are a ton of books to read but want to know we are ready to travel. One of the books that we did have time to read said some kind of scheduled maintenance at 48,000 mi. Any info would be much apprecia...
I remember our first long RV trip took us to over 8,000 feet in Wyoming and later into Colorado and New Mexico to more higher elevations. We learned that shampoo bottles and such can behave in interesting ways when taken from close to sea level to high elevations, especially when they are not very full...

I just finished reading in Howard's blog about last year's incident with the brakes on the trailer and all the headaches that went into getting the parts and getting it fixed. And it hit me -- all the what ifs. We were planning to buy used. That means no warranty, which means we need money to fix anything t...
Has anyone been to, or worked at, the Sugar Barge RV Resort and Marina located in Bethel Island, CA? Our research indicates that the resort is centrally located between San Francisco and Sacramento in Contra Costa County and is on the California Delta between Antioch and Brentwood, i.e. the border...
We arrived at Cherry Creek State Park, just outside of Denver, Colorado, a few days ago while travelling from South Dakota on our way to New Mexico. The primary reason for the stoppover was so that Jo could visit with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Our intention was to be here for no mo...
So, a month ago we were jobless and wondering if any of our ads would cause an employer to sit up and take notice, and now we are inundated with calls or emails from potential employers, have taken a job in CA from Nov. - May and have one lined up in Oregon from May through at least September of 2011. I just wan...
We have been diligently pursuing our dream job for fulltiming. We just spent 10 days in Albuquerque at the Balloon Fiesta doing a dry run. This week we found out we GOT IT!!! We both have experience working for a music festival here in Kansas and used our contacts to create a job for ourselves. This ne...
We are camphosts at Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, Ca. It is a great job in a beautiful area. No cleaning, work gift shop 2 days/week, sell firewood and be a presence in the campground. Several long term camphosts (10-15 years) have decided not to return so there are openings here. Contact me and I wil...
Is is necessary to get a 5th wheel hitch that can handle more lbs. than the gross weight of the trailer? i.e., our 5er could weight 14,000 lbs. loaded. What size 5th wheel hitch is necessary and/or recommended? Thanks, Melanie
