Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all!I have been on here reading everyone’s great advice and info.We are looking to get our first motorhome and I wanted to see if anyone had any advice they would be willing to share. Please don’t be shy about your thoughts…I am the kind of person who would rather have all the information (good and...
We have found a beautiful (online) motorhome from Camping World. We have done some negotiating and are about where we wanted to be. We would have to drive 36 hours to get this so I wanted to see if anyone had every purchased their rig from Camping World and what your experience was (good, bad etc). Thi...
Hello! We have never stepped foot into an RV, much less owned one, so we are clueless. My husband's job requires a lot of moving (most projects are in different areas of the southwest) and he is considering buying an RV to live in when working away from home. We will definitely buy USED, but are unsure o...
Just bought a 38' 5er and realized that lots of state parks sites only say up to 35' Anyone know is this a hard and fast rule? Do they ask when you make your reservation your size?
We are not big extended warranty people. seems like stuff always breaks one day after the warranty you paid big bucks for expires. We are thinking though that we will buy the extended warranty on our new 2011 Heartland What is your opinion of these extended warranties? Are they worth it?
We got a contract on the house 10 days after it was on the market, lucked out! Have been afraid to say it (write it) out loud, might jinx the deal. Think we are close enough now to start grinning! Looking at January to head out, to be officially ON THE ROAD, Bunk has to finish up a job, we have to get his Mom into...
Great to meet everyone. My dear husband is "Defiant" - he's around here somewhere We really look forward to getting ready for fulltiming and getting great advise from the experts
While this forum is full of useful information, it is also good for some great laughs. I won't specify which posts have given me a laugh today (wonder if you can tell what I've been reading?), but I'm really enjoying this forum. Can't wait to actually sit around the campfire with some of you all.
I am new to the site. Hope to find this site informative, and fun.We are full timming in Michigan in the summer, and in the south, fall and winter. We like to say we winterize by going south.Mostly Florida, Texas or Arizona. This year we will be in all three states from Oct to May.
I have an older RV and although I don't plan on doing this now eventually I will get a newer model RV. I was wondering if any of you have ever used a consignment lot to sell your RV and if so would you advise it ?
Now that we have finally made the decision on what type of vehicle to go with (diesel pusher) I need some help on engine size. We will be buying a used unit in the 38' to 40' length. I will be hauling a toad as well as a motorcycle. I have driven a 400hp cummins and a 350hp cat. I did notice a difference in powe...
My husband Bob, our dog Guinness, and I hope to transition to the RV lifestyle in 2012, but it could be later. Bob and I are 52 and just recently celebrated 28 years of marriage, Guinness (our Tico dog) is almost 5. We left the rat race in 2006, but my husband eventually returned to full-time employment...
We are seriously considering full-time and I'm wondering what people do about clothes. We both have a lot of winter coats, sweaters, and shoes, casual clothes and he has a lot of business (sportcoat & tie) clothes. Do you just get rid of almost everything to start, or do you store some it based on...
In October, my wife & I are going to be in Elkhart, IN, for a few days and plan to tour the Newmar Plant. Also, my daughter recently moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, and is working at the University of Alabama where we plan to visit her next Spring. Red Bay, where Tiffin is located, is about two hours Nort...
Friends: We just purchased a new 5th wheel with a Sharp microwave/convection oven. I have never used one before but am excited about the possibilities. The manual says it if fine to use metal or aluminum foil pans for convection or combination cooking but I'm wondering if it might make sense to go wi...
My wife Terri and I are planning for our retirement and one of the options we are considering is RVing on either a full or part time basis. We like to ride motorcycles (we have a Goldwing and a Burgman 650) which we would want to include on our travels. We're still four years away, but have started resear...
My wife (Catherine) and I are seriously looking at getting a Class A with a cargo trailer to haul our motorcycles so can go to an area and explore it. We've ridden most of the area West of the Rockies on ride out and back for trips. Getting tired of motels and restaurant food. Plus with in the next 16 month...
We intend to do that pass next week. I am pulling a 31ft EVERGREEN with an F 250. We have no problems with mountains as we just got back from Alaska and are now in a camp ground in Colorado at over 8,000 ft. Did many 10% percent grades, for miles, on this trip. Thanks for any insite. CCC
We're starting to do a little route planning for our upcoming trip from Austin, TX to Coffeyville, KS for my Amazon gig starting in September. We're looking for some advice/recommendations/thoughts on routing and places to visit on the way. We're trying to learn to travel more slowly... lol We saw...
So how did you get ride of all the stuff? We don't plan to full-time forever, but at least several years, so I guess we will put some furniture and a few treasured things in storage. But what about all the rest? ebay? Craig's lis? Yard Sale (I HATE yared sales...). I've been dumping as mcuh as I can on...
We have a 1990 Holiday Rambler and while camping a month ago we shut off the generator because of low fuel and we did realize that during the night the steps were making a clicking noise. The engine battery had to be jumped for us to leave and everything seemed to be working ok. We parked the unit and when w...
A quick question.....We just had to replace the 2 outside dually tires on our Ford F350. When we bought the truck in February, the tires were in nearly brand new condition. We had to replace 1 tire in April and the tire dealer told us we had the tires under inflated and inflated all of them (including ou...
http://rvbasics.com/rv-press-release/RV-Fridge_Guard.htmlI saw this and think that it could really help with the refrigerator.THE WIFE says that I obsess about having the refrig door open. The very thought!Has anyone used one of these?CCC
Is there a way that I can tell which posts that I have read already? I tend to jump around reading the ones that I have questions about first. Is there something that I am missing?
Alaska Bound 2011When Pat, THE WIFE, and I decided to go to Alaska in our RV, an EVERGREEN 31RLS travel trailer, we started researching the trip by talking to friends who had done so and surfing the internet and amassed quite a bit of information. THE WIFE spent...
I know I already asked a scenario question about Nevada but now here goes the one for SD. We are current residents of Montana and would purchase our 5th wheel while still residents here and we would probably register it here as well since we plan to buy it about 6months before becoming full timers. We al...
I like many on this form will not be able to afford a new motorhome. I have been researching the Foretravel brand and find them to very interesting. They seem to be a high end quality built unit. I would need to look in the 10 year old category to stay in my price range. This is my first post. I have been follo...
We listed our house for sale with the same realtors that we bought the house through 13 years ago. We had a great buying experience and thought that they'd give us a great selling experience also. That has not turned out to be what has happend. The realtors made us sign a 6 month contract giving them the...
