Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We wanted to do this for a long time. I researched and it was very helpful when others post. We are not professionals. We did NOT check with the manufacturer before install. I still don't have the camera I would like and not a "pro" at programs and Photoshop. I think of myself as an averag...
We have been fulltime for a year now and need an oil change on the dp. How do you decide where to go? Is there a service directory online? Do you just look up the closest rv sales and service? Have you found a favorite and make a plan to be there when it is time? Any advice appreciated.
I spent the weekend at several local RV dealers and boy can it be overwhelming! One salesman made a comment to me regarding financing an RV and I wondered if anyone has experienced this. He told me that when obtaining financing DO NOT tell the bank that I will be living in it fulltime. He said that banks m...
this is a question for full & part timers. who has a list of important papers/documents that you feel is a must to have with you on the road? these are only a few that come to my mind: rv insurance policy truck insurance policy health insurance policy vehicle titles receipts for big ticket items, i...
I would like to get input on those individuals who "full-time" vs. "part-time" (which we are currently in). In another topic posted on this site, people were discussing how people looked at them like they were "crazy" if they decided to full-time. What I want t...
As I read the information on the Alfa See Ya Founders LS I am going to see in a few days, I keep running into the words "upgraded residential fridge/freezer" Does this mean that it is electric only and doesn't also run on propane? Is this good or bad?
Anybody on the verge of taking the plunge reconsidering their decision due to the economic mess we are experiencing? We are very confident that our finances are strong enough for us to proceed with our plans but the what if's still make me worry. I guess the worst that can happen is, we do what we dream o...
Has anyone had a cracked corian countertop? I have one that has a crack that is about 6 inches long. I am thinking that it may get bigger once I start moving down the road. It is not covered in my insurance. I have called for a quote and the pricetag of $700.00 is a bit high. Is it something that I can live...
We are new to the full timing, and wondering when parked for an extended period of time should you occasionally start the diesel engine and let the motor come up to temperature while you are plugged in, levelers down, and slides out? If not, does the inverter keep the engine battery charged along with...

My wife and I are planning to camp in the Yosemite area in mid- September 2011. We'll be towing a 33 ft fifth wheel and was wondering which is the best route to take from I-80 to Yosemite. Also would like recommendations on good campgrounds in the area with full hook-ups. Tell us your favorites.
I’m about to be unpopular and I have concluded that I’m OK with that. But it’s been eating at me since the Strawberry Park thread. So I’ll jump into the morass and state an opinion that isn’t going to be liked.Dog owners are killing their pet’s acceptance. Now at this point dismiss me as a dog hater and m...
As I continue to look for the RV (Trailer) that my son and I will begin our fulltime RV journey in I was wondering about the day to day use...in particular the fixtures, I.E. sinks, toilet, shower, etc. I am not going to be spending a lot on our first RV ($13,000 -$16,000 range). Are the fixtures in this ra...
Eeek! I just put a deposit on a 2007 Alfa Leisure SEE YA Founder 35LS (diesel) so that La Mesa RV would bring it from Tucson to California for us to see. They promise me that the deposit is full refundable and conditional on our seeing and driving it. The pric is 89K, Firm. If anyone has any words of wis...
Hey all Has anyone worked at Sunset King Resort, Defunick Springs Fl? Large camp, say's he uses alot of workcampers. Does that mean he needs alot of worker's, or goes through alot of worker's?? Thanks Rick
Under "Community Chat" there was a thread started referring to what everyone was doing in the 100 degree-plus heat and how their RV's were holding up. I posted about using a decorative fabric as a "heat block" on the one window we have facing the evening sun. Rich (TXRVr) men...
I am looking at enclosing the underside of our 5th wheel to keep the "Fury Kids" and other critters from getting under there. I am looking at using Lattace pannels and was wondering if anyone out there has done this. I am looking at doing this as a tempory messure while we are stationary for a l...
I was determined to live the agrarian life style. Raise our own food, from the garden and with the animals. After 15 years of that I am ready to hit the road. It is time to shift gears. I work in commercial construction. Travel has always been an option. However with our family split on the idea, it was not p...
This came up somehow when I met H&L last Saturday. I asked if they were still using their soda machine because I was wondering if birch beer was one of the flavors available.Linda said she had never heard of it.It seems to be something that is popular on a regional basis - New England and the midwest...
Well we closed on the house this am, we're leaving for Elkhart on Wed to pick up the Big Horn. Kind of scared but happy. My husband is walking on air. Will get on the road in Jan until then living at an RV park on Twin Lakes here in GA. Wish us luck!
We just wanted to pass along the name of a good, honest repair person if you're in Washington state in the Olympia area. The name of the business is Super Bee. He's near the junction of I-5 and hwy 101. The owner's name is Gregg. It's a family run business. He specializes in RV's and Semi trucks, cars...
How does the Montana LLC work? Has anyone on this forum done it who would be willing to answer a few questions? First of all, do you have to set up a domicile in Montana to do it? Does the RV have to be purchased in Montana?
We started full timing in June, working at a campground in North Carolina. Then after a return to MO in July for prior committments, we escaped the horrible summer heat/humidity by starting work at Pagosa Riverside Campground near Pagosa Springs, CO. This is a nice park (former KOA), elevation 7,10...
I am pretty sure that I saw a post somewhere in RV-Dreams where one of you geniuses modified and put baloon/tubeless tires and axles on your tote. We bought a brand new 32-gallon tote and on the first trip to the dump station the cheap plastic hub melted off. We drove slow (5-8mph) and at least the wheel di...
We are selling our motorhome to buy a fifth wheel. We have already ordered our fifth wheel and are trying to sell the motorhome before taking delivery in September. So, we are asking ONLY $69,000 or best offer for the following coach: 2008 Holiday Rambler 34SBD 36' long 2 slides Gas Chevy vortec 8.1 6s...
