Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

My wife Terri and I are planning for our retirement and one of the options we are considering is RVing on either a full or part time basis.  We like to ride motorcycles (we have a Goldwing and a Burgman 650) which we would want to include on our travels.  We're still four years away, but have started researching RV types and floorplans.  We both love nature and travel, but tent-camping seems a bit primitive at this stage in our lives.  The thought of unplugging and seeing more of this beautiful country is very appealing!

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  If you have just arrived here, you will find that there is a lot of knowledge among the folks here.  There are also a few hauling their motorcycles around as well.  There are different options for that as there are different types of RV's that are called "toy haulers" with a ramp into the back to allow the loading of "toys."

Feel free to ask questions and don't ever worry as to whether the one you want to ask may seem like a dumb one.  There are no dumb questions and a lot of times, one's questions may put a different perspective on an old topic.

Enjoy the research and planning.  Check out RV shows and RV dealers.  If you go with a trailer as opposed to a motorhome, be sure and pick your RV first and then look for a truck heavy enough to handle it.

Welcome! Great group of folks here, don't be afraid to ask what's on your mind.

We travel with a bike although it's not the Goldwing in our photo anymore. We haul it sideways behind the cab of the semi loading it with a Rampage loader: http://www.rampagelift.com/

We bought a new Harley Ultra Classic last year because it was a few inches shorter then the Wing and a little easier to load.

We went with the semi because being fulltimers we wanted the living space of a full size 5th wheel vs a toy hauler with the garage in the back. This was just our preference.

There are lots of options out there for you to "take it with you" smile

Not sure what type of rig you are looking for but they make lifts for the rear of motorhomes to carry a bike as well as tow dollies that you put the bike on side ways and then haul a car behind.

Toy hauler 5th wheels have come a long way since we purchased. Seems like most of the ones we looked at the interiors were cheap looking leather with gawdy color schemes. They are a lot more "livable" now days.

 

They also make swivel wheel trailers that you tow behind the 5th wheel that allows you the combination vehicle to back up. http://www.cruiserlift.com/swivelwheel.html
