Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I've got some good news that a 4G LTE Direct Connect amplifier will soon be available (2/23/)! The model will be the Cellphone-Mate CM700V and will finally be an amplified 4G solution for RVers The only downside is this will be dedicated for 4G LTE only, which means it won't do anything when you're in a 3...
I am so excited! Bought our fiver yesterday!!! It is not a "million dollar baby" but it suits us and I fell in love with it! After looking at thousands....I was happy to finally find a nice well kept, clean unit in our humble price range and the best part was that it was fairly close to home....
Mom is looking for a source to have custom curtains made for the front windshield & cab of her 26' DynaQuest. That is the "Super-C" RV built on a Freightliner chassis. Freightliner doesn't carry them, and the converter doesn't have any suggestions either. Regular Class A curtain...
All the pictures I have found so far show lots of natural finish wood and more traditional decor. Is there a make and model that offers modern/contemporary interiors?
We are staying in a state park and leaving tomorrow. Problem is that the dump station is closed all day. Our next stop is only about and hour away and has full hook ups so we are going to just wait and dump when we get there. The DH wants to know if there is any danger to our tanks traveling with them between 1...
Hi All, Stopped today and looked at a Redwood 5th Wheel. We were impressed. Just wondering if anyone has any experience or has heard anything since they are a fairly new company.
We are a family of 5, two boys age 11 & 5, one girl age 7. We will be hitting the road full time within the next year. I am looking at 5th wheels because they provide the most space. 5th wheel toy haulers seems to provide more. I would like the boys to bunk together while my girl gets the loft. I find it qu...
I am not a fulltimer or even a parttimer at this time. But I am a good cook and we do pretty much live in our camper during the summer and fall months. We have it parked closed to home. Anyway I have found the greatest cooking devise and have been cooking like crazy with it all winter. I know I will be taking it w...
I am doing my research and based on my needs: -lenient homeschool state -pre-existing condition healthcare laws New Jersey has lenient homeschool laws and they have to cover pre-existing conditions after a certain time. Texas not so on the healthcare laws. I am not currently a resident of NJ. Here...
We plan to start RVing full-time in a few years and we are currently researching domicile options. Our top consideration is eliminating any potential legal challenges, particularly related to health insurance coverage. Our concern is not initial eligibility, but if a significant health event w...
We just got our Registration Renewal returned from DMV...the reason checked is PLEASE SEND PHOTOCOPY OF STAMPED SCHEDULE 1 form 2290 what the heck is that....thanks...
We are just starting to go full time so we are in the process of changing our residence from Colorado to South Dakota. Then to our horror our insurance provider (Humana) tells us that it will cost another $150 per month (that's right) to insure us because we have a South Dakota address. Any thou...
We have an electrical problem and in need of a good dealership or mobile repair in Florida. We are currently in Largo but will be heading to Bushnell, Clermont and Jacksonville next month. We had a mobile repair guy come out and he wasn't licensed electrician, and not comfortable working with elect...
For years my husband and I tried to begin this Gypsyish way of life. I was dealing with health issues but was at a point where I though I was in the clear. The cancer was in remission several years and the nasty lupus flare (several years worth of flare) was abated. Then we took our first work camper job in Ca...
Hi All, Bob and Sue here (Sue typing...I'm faster at it). New to your group, but not RV'ing. We got our first TT in July of 2000. On a 3 week trip we out grew the TT, stopped at an RV dealer on the way home "just to look" and drove off the next day with a 38' Newmar Dutch Star. Bob has driven big rig...
Hola, y'all! My husband Leonard & I, along with Sprocket "the Wonder Dog," embarked on the early retirement trail about 2 years ago. We pulled up stakes in Chicago - sold the condo, cars, furniture, etc. - and headed south to Costa Rica where we've been enjoying life in the tropics. Now...
So....we live in Michigan. Our plan is to go fulltime sometime this year, hopefully within the next 4-6 months. We have our Tow Vehicle and are now looking at used fiver's. So my question is: When do you think we should move our residency to SD? I was thinking before we buy the fiver so we don't have to...
Have I ever told you all that forum search features tend to be worthless? The more words that one puts in a search phrase, the more threads that come up that are completely irrelevant to the basic question. Anyway, Jo mentioned that the drain was slowing down in the plumbing of the kitchen sink. Since we...
Just wanted to let you know we will be hosting a free webinar tomorrow (7/14/2011) at 6pm EST."How to Make your Family's Full Time RV Dreams a Reality" We will discuss your most pressing questions like:How will our family and all our stuff fit into 350 square feet? How much will this cost? Ho...
Our RV is just a minnie winnie, but that counts, right? I am from Texas, my husband is from Washington. We have a house in both places, but spend most of our time in WA. Some day, we want to cross the country in our Griswold-mobile. We are no where near retirement, so it could be a while. To tell you how mu...
As we get ready for full-timing it occured to me that I should ask "the experts" out there on what one should carry in the fifth-wheel in order to camp in parks with full hook ups. We usually boondock, so I have no idea what is necessary to stay in a full hook up park for a season. Obviously we n...
My wife and I planning on begining our full time camping trip in the next month or two. I want to get the entertainment system right. I need unlimited internet . Leaning towards Hughs Net right now, since I keep getting offers for free equipment with a contract? I'm a little stressed just trying...
We became fulltime traveling RVers just last week. We came down to Texas from NJ because we believed that as a Texas resident we would have cost savings. First we had to spend $185. for mail service with a Texas address (necessary to do anything else). Then it cost $31.00 to get the truck and fiver i...
Hi All, Just found this site a couple of days ago and have been reading ever since. I have been retired since 2006. We are married 44 years and bought our first camper in 2003. After returning from 6 weeks on the road last year, we decided to go full time in 2012. We are in the process of selling our home (s...
We are in a great CG in San Angelo and are covered with snow. Who would have thought? Fortunately full hookups, we admit to being WEENIES. Having fun. The hot oil electric heater (BASIX, brand) is getting a work out, using it and the propane furnace. The elec unit keeps the furnace from cycling so ofte...
Has anyone had problems with the radio antenna hitting the roof so hard it tears the roof ? We just got back from a Texas to Florida to Texas trip and I was washing off the roof and found that the radio antenna is slapping the roof so hard it has torn small little holes in the roof. I can only guess because it s...
