Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Just want to say Hello. I'm from Door County Wisconsin. A beautiful area for summer camping with one of the most beautiful state parks in Wisconsin. Peninsula State Park. A wonderful park on the waters of Green Bay and great for family camping.
We were all set to full time once our kids were grown and gone. We were SO close! Now, we're adopting our 19 month old grandaughter. We've decided that we aren't going to let this stop our dream. Now that we've decided we're going to do this, I need help!! Anyone else have young children while full ti...
Has anyone had any experience purchasing an RV through Crankyape on the internet. They specialize in selling re-possesed RV's (actually all manner of chattels) by online auction. They appear to have a number of facilities around the country where the repossessed RV's can be picked up by the succes...
The largest vehicle I have driven is an SUV. Does anyone have any suggestions about the best ways to learn how to drive a 38-40 ft DP? I am in northern Virginia near Washington, D.C. Thank you. Liz

The weather is getting nice and we finally are getting some time to work on some modifications on our fiver. The first mod that I want to do is relocating our large battery. Can anyone tell me if it is OK to move the battery into the garage area of our fiver and what if any problems might arise from such a mov...
Traveling home from a month-long trip to Florida with the 5er......we had a blowout on the trailer. Left back tire completely tore up the tire and while tire was coming apart it busted bottom of slide and fender.
Thanks to God we were coming up on a rest area so was able to pull off safely and with no rim d...
With all the natural disasters in the past few years, I was wondering if anyone has done any type of workamping that involved volunteering with a christian group of people who help those victims of natural disasters get back on their feet. It seems to me that I have read about a group that goes around an...
My husband, frank and I are going to our first RV show next weekend. I am so excited to finally see the RV's for real and not just pictures on the computer. Will any of you fulltimes be at the show on Saturday? Would love to meet and chat. Still working on hubby about my retirement plan. Tracy
A quick hello and introduction -- DH and I have enjoyed reading RV-Dreams.com for several months. I recently started asking some questions in the forum and I realized that I never introduced myself.First, a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Howard and Linda. Reading the RV-Dreams journal and understanding t...

Cheri DW retired Feb 17 and I retire May 4. We are currently in S. Florida on our last "Vacation" and have had two VolunteerJobs offered in the past week for next winter. It has been over 40 years since the last Job interview. We are both excited and can't wait.
Hi everyone, About the middle of Feb. we'll be heading west on I-10 and am wondering if anyone has traveled on 10 between Alabama and Texas lately. A few years ago there were some very rough sections in Louisiana and am wondering if it's still that way or if it has been repaired. Thanks, Jim

We are taking a trip around the state staying mainly in State parks but can't find anything around the Ft Myers area. Does anyone have a recommendation for this area. We will be in the Brandenton area and then heading south on 75 before traveling east across the state. We don't want to pay more than ab...
Has anyone had to escape because of fire while in their RV? Are there special ladders or anything else for the emergency windows? I am partially disabled and it is a little scary thinking about getting out in time.
If your concerned with your right to privacy Google has announced a new privacy policy that will take effect on March 1, 2012. They plan to bring 60 disparate privacy documents into one umbrella policy for targeted advertisements. Of course, not everyone is going to be thrilled with having all their...
I just found this site this week and have read just about the whole already! My is already retired and we plan to start fulltiming the day I turn 62. I look forward to getting to know the community.
My Cowboy husband refuses to camp anywhere near salt water, even though we both love the beach. He says the salt air will ruin our 5th wheel. I realize that salt air is corrosive, but there must be things we can do to avoid any damage. Obviously, lots of other folks camp on the beach, so it can't be that b...
We took our new (to us) trailer to the coast for our first trip. The campsite did not have hookups but they did have a dump tank and a water station. We filled up and got the trailer situated. I turned the water pump switch on since we didn't have city water. It seemed to work just fine. However, I hear...
Have you been having an issue with the previous build 3.4.1 on your NetBSD Cradlepoint router? If so, you may want to check out the latest update that offers some added 4G LTE stability and adds some new features depending on the model you have. If you're currently not having any issues with 3.4.1 I don'...
I'm not really sure where to put this but this seems to be the best place. My wife and I will be giving up our house soon and going full time for awhile. We still have jobs so we're not going to be hitting the open road. The 5er will be parked on my parents' property. I'll be running a 50 amp line to plug in an...
If so, would you share your experiences? My main two questions are: does the small space ever drive you crazy and how do you cope when it does? And, do you tow a car or just drive the RV as your only vehicle? Any and all insight is welcome!
I have been hiding a clue in plain site for the last few days so I wanted to bring everyone on the board up-to-date. As of 3.1.12, we will be winding down our business as we are very excited to announce that we will become full-time employees of the Winegard company. We will be traveling throughout the We...
Well, after a year of lurking on here and reading all the great posts, we finally joined. Just a lil about us, Chris and Nadene, we both just retired from USAF after 20+ years and bought us a new RV and Truck for our retirement present. We actually started our full-time adventure in Oct 2011 and are...
I just purchased a progessive EMS for my MH. I was checking out a location to install it and ran into a small problem. I will be a little short on exsiting cable in the electrical bay. I have a power reel for my 50 amp shore power cord and don't want to steal any cable from it. Has anyone else run into this situ...
They were in here like locusts, consuming everything I owned. Sold all the beds, sofa's, bedroom suits, appliances more or less in one day. Still own the acreage and will hang out trying to complete a sale on the house wtihout a realator fee. I think seeing this place in my rear view mirror will rea...
