Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am retired Army and looking to find the right rig and spend some time in Alaska fishing and seeing the sights next year. This forum is a wonderful resource for novice like myself and I am looking forward to learning about RVing from those of you kind enough to share your insight and experience. My best...
Hello All! Yep... it's official - retirement announced, countdown has commenced and plans are being made. I've purchased the RV (38' Holiday Rambler), notified the landlord and I'm in the process of "de-cluttering". I've become a forum junkie. I would expect that I'll be lurking...
Is anyone going to the Escapees Rally in Gillette the end of June/early July? we plan on arriving the 29th of June and staying until the 6th if July. Ann
We anticipate retiring soon and want to RV in a Class A. However, the first question I have is gas, or diesel, the way to go? If we plan on living in the northeast during the summer months and southeast during the winter months. We may plan on extended trips out west at different times. Will letting th...
If you noticed my recent rash of posts you will see I've begun seriously 5th wheel shopping. I've done a lot of research so consider myself fairly well educated. But one of the areas I'm not clear on is what I really need in terms of inverter size. I won't be moving much for a few years -- will have the unit...
Hi Howard (AND Linda), I've just started seriously looking for a 5th wheel of my own to live in. I can't afford the 5th wheel of my dreams right now so I'm exploring options. It seems it's really hard to find a good quality late model unit that doesn't cost nearly as much as a brand new one. I happened to s...

We had a great weekend with my parents. My Dad is 86 years old. He hasn't been up to par this year so this is their first trip out since last year. He drove their class C motor home 100 miles and set it up by himself 2 days before we got there. We spend the weekend mostly talking and cooking. His knees are bad so w...

I did it! I did it! I did it! We were driving out of Columbia, MO when DH nonchalantly slipped in a suggestion that "this is as good a time as any" for me to take my inaugural turn at towing our 5th wheel. So, we pulled over, switched places in the F350, and off we went. I managed about an ho...
We have been having a hard time finding good workcamping jobs. Most of the ones we find don't offer wages. Are a lot of them doing away with that? Also the ones we do find we never hear back from. Not even a No Thank you, we have already had the position filled. We are a young thirty something family. We sti...
Cheri and I have talked it over and would like to meet full timers to gain more insight 1st hand, so we decided to offer a stop over location located in Bolton, CT, just minutes from major interstates 91&84. We are 1 mile from the end of I-384 We have a grass lot 156'x75' with water/electric ( at t...
I went to dump my black tank this morning (I bet you already can guess what happened) and one of the hooks on the bayonet coupling broke off, and yes, sh!t happened. I was able to close it again quickly, and the deodorizer was doing it's job, so not too bad, but it went all over my foot. (My dog is going to love...
This is the first Sunday that we didn't have to pack up and go home! It sure was fun watching the others for once. We figure we'll do a short trip once a month or so since we still have to work around my schedule. This lifestyle keeps getting better and better!
Hello Dreamers, Okay, DH & I were discussing (debating) about having cable internet connection at campgrounds that offer cable. I have seen one or two workcamper jobs that specifically offer cable internet. So...is this becoming more of an offering at campgrounds? Especially for workcampi...
Tonight is our first boondocking night with our new rig at an art show in the artist designated overnight parking at an art show. After a horrendous load in caused by some disorganization, we retreated to our trailer, got some work done, checked Yelp for some local reviews and walked to a restauran...
Isn't it funny how things can turn around for the better just when you least expect it? It happens that way sometimes...... read on.Upon realizing the cost to upgrade to a more adequate truck to tow the heavy toy hauler we wanted, and the subsequent poor fuel economy we could expect, I hit rock bottom. R...
Currently we own a TT, Mckenzie Starwood, but am looking into purchasing a used Class A gas model, would love a diesel but out of price range for now. We were looking at camping world yesterday and found a nice Damon Intruder 2001 351 model with less than 6,000 on it. Looking to get any feedback on the Da...
Steve and I learned something from our last volunteer employer that I thought would be beneficial to pass on. Most interviews are done sight unseen. I never thought much about the importance of listing your hobbies on a resume. Apparently it is very important. One way to find out about the abilitie...
First some background: Almost one year ago to the day I bought a brand new KZ Sportsmen 280RLSS travel trailer. MSRP was $23,000+, I paid $17,500 cash so no payments on it. I bought this particular model because of the super slide which gave it a lot of space inside. My SO had muscular dystrophy making wa...
I have a 4 part series starting in July (unless it get pushed forward) in RV LIFE magazine. Article 1 will be general information like safety, RV Caravans etc., concentrating on the mainland. The second one will be on the border crossing procedures & paperwork. The 3rd will be authored by my good f...
Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico. A small town near Manzanillo. It is actually called St Patricio Melaque and has the best St Paddy's celebrations in the world (even according to some Irish web sites). Here is a link to some videos I took this year of the crazy fireworks celebrations in the evening. the first...
it's been a very challenging few weeks, as the house has been under contract since may 9th but the buyer's lenders were squeamish about the farm value, as there are no comps for anything like our property for miles around. and two weeks ago we found out i needed asap surgery to remove some rare tumors whi...
Hi, I did a search on the forum for Keystone and noticed that the threads were quite old, but also very negative. I love some of the floor plans of the 2013 Montana and was wondering if anything has changed? Have they improved their customer service and warranty policies or is still recommended to stay...
It is cold in KS. It has been in the 40's for 3 nights. I spoke with my brother in SW MI and he said it was really cold there so are most areas experiencing this colder temps right now? I have noticed that neither dog is shedding that much which is really strange because they are to-the-max shedders. Rin...
We finally got our new 5th Wheel. Got it all loaded up. Jim had it hooked up and ready to go. Foot slipped and he crashed into our garage. Minor damage to the garage (we lease the house). About $7800 damage on trailer. We were both feeling sick and shocked. Had to unload frig and some items. Took it down to...
When did I get old?I was in my favorite store recently, when a young family was blocking the way. The mother looked up and told her children, “Move over, kids, and let the old man by.” Old man, indeed!I looked at them and just shook my head in amazement, and drove the power cart around them. Why, I’m not...
The closing on our home is scheduled for next Friday, so today I started calling utilities to schedule disconnections. I was talking to 'Sue' at the gas company. She asked if I also needed to set up service at our new place, and I explained that we'd be moving into and living in our motorhome. Sue s...
