Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Bang!! CRUNCH!!

cry We finally got our new 5th Wheel. Got it all loaded up. Jim had it hooked up and ready to go. Foot slipped and he crashed into our garage. Minor damage to the garage (we lease the house). About $7800 damage on trailer. We were both feeling sick and shocked. Had to unload frig and some items. Took it down to where we bought it.

We just got new insurance from Geico covering our truck and trailer. Everything is being taken care of. We only have to pay $250 deductible. Wouldn't be suprised if we  don't get a big rise in our insurance premiums. Now everything for the trailer is back stacked up in our bedroom.

Our plan was to park the 5th wheel at the campground and finish pricing our junk for a sale. As soon as the sale was over we were on our merry way full timing.

Don't know how long it will take for the repairs. We are just chillin' (now that we've gotten over the shock). We will continue to get the stuff ready for sale and  set a sell date as soon as the 5th wheel comes back.

We trust in God and His plan. Don't know what it is, but are willing to trust. We are kee'lllping our sense of humor and are thankful that it happened at home and we still have a place to stay in the meantime.

I wonder, does this incident mean we might have smooth sailing for a while?? Haha

I am so sorry but have we have learned, you will get over the bumps.
A thought for when you have your sale. We sold quite a few pieces of furniture to people who were willing to wait up to a month to pick it up. That way we didn't lose out on sales as we got ready.

Sending you understanding and best wishes for fast repairs!

Sherry

Sorry to hear about this, hoping it's a quick repair. It's our worst nightmare while we're parked on our very steep driveway where if anythine went wrong the 5v'er would be in the garage.

Well that's a bummer for sure but one this is certain. And it is that something WILL happen sooner or later. Your just happened sooner. But before long it will just become another story you can tell.

Together with the upside of RV living, we have the downside. Sad as they are, these events occur. Don't let it deter you. After years of RV travel, with only minor "events", we moved the other day and on hook-up, I mistakenly attached the city water supply to the black tank flush, as opposed to the water inlet. With the black tank valve closed, it didn't take long to fill the black tank, overflowing it from the toilet onto the bathroom floor, into the floor ducts, and onto the bedroom carpet. We had just had all the non-carpet areas done in laminate. Saved all of that, but carpet in bedroom is a goner also compartments got water. Thankfully, I had flushed tank before leaving prior spot, but water was "tinted", none the less. Now have a large "cap" tightened over the flush water supply.  Forty years of RV ownership, never did anything like that, so there is always a first time!! Like you, we'll get it fixed and move forward. A bump in the road, like yours, but worth keeping the dream for. Hope your rig gets fixed quickly. Perhaps getting a major event over early will provide smooth sailing from then on.

Richard

My brother in law took the rear window of his truck out, the first time he backed up his new 5th wheel.
