Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well it is Winter.... we are scheduled for our third snow storm in about a week. My name is Ray and my wife is Daisy. We have been full-timers for the last 11 years although we haven't moved much. Daisy is a legal secretary and I am retired military, retired Database Admin and soon to be retired period....
My husband and I ordered a DRV 5th wheel this summer only to have it delivered November 13, 2013 to the dealership with NUMEROUS problems! We are aware of the fact that when folks (ourselves included) look at RVs on dealership lots all of the problems or "kinks" have been worked out prior to t...
Is it a general rule that this back up mirror, with the dashboard monitor is always turned on while driving. Maybe to help moving back into a lane when passing, or knowing how close people are to you while moving? Or is it switched on and off when needed? Thanks for your input, Tommaso
There is a big MH in the park we're currently in that has its rear wheels way jacked up on the levelers so that they're at least 4 -6" off the pad. Front tires are barely touching and it's occupied. Extreme winds yesterday and today. Rig appears level to me as it stands but sites here are not that un-le...
Okay, I love my long hot showers. I think that will be the thing that I will hate to give up the most when we buy our 5'er. That said we have a tankless water system in our house and love it! Never run out of hot water, and no big water tank to worry with. It also uses less energy than the old tank one did. SOO...
Only 31 degrees this morning in the Ozarks! We connected the heater hose (found one with a thermostat, so that will be convenient!) tank heaters on and heated inside overnight with electric fireplace. Was 69 when we woke up which is great sleeping temp for us. Hubby fired up furnace but I'm still snugg...

Next problem. (This may be turning into a money pit) Our front slide's been leaking, and we finally had a certified tech look at it. His opinion is that our wiper slides have gotten too soft to keep the rain out when the slide is deployed. He told me that replacing those seals can't be done in the field beca...
Although I am at "home" in our s & b for the holidays this year, I am preparing for the future by sorting through the decorations while they are out. What do the rest of you do to decorate for the holidays in your RV's? Space is always an issue but I am sure many of you have found solutions to...
I know I haven't been around very much lately. That's because I'm so busy! We really need a great sales assistant and we've decided to tap the best RVers on the planet. Here is the job posting. Email: Terry at mlrhodes.com if you are interested. If you want the inside scoop, email me at carol at mlrh...
Hi all, Since we are right in the middle of working through the specifics to get us out on the road next year I wanted to share a moment Lee and I had recently. I like to work off a 5 year plan. I started doing it for my career 10 years ago and it has worked very well because many of those goals took time to devel...
Just thought I would put it out there in case there are any Dreamers in the Washington, DC area that might be going and want to meet up. We will be going, just not sure if it will be Saturday or Sunday yet. We're getting a bunch of snow right now, so it's hard to think of Rving. http://gsevents.com/shows/di...
Hi to all-----I have a 2008 Damon Outlaw gasser----2 exhaust pipes with a muffler on each. They each have insulation with a metal cover over the muffler. The driver side has rotted out due to condensation so I removed the cover that was falling off as well as the insulation. Should I be concerned with ex...
Ok, to start with I am an electricity moron. I have seen several posts about powering up your rig from your house. We have a 50amp 5th wheel. How exactly, do you get power to the rig? We don't have any plugs at the house that will accommodate the RV power cord. I know I'm gonna feel like an idiot when I see the a...
The question about gray tank sensors reading incorrectly because of grease made me wonder about common practices that seasoned RVers do to enjoy trouble free coach operation. I'm talking about the simple habits that help prevent problems. Everyday behaviors that a newby wouldn't think about or m...
First of all, allow me to explain that the mobile home park we live in is owned by a lady in the horse industry. A number of the sites here, of which there are 16 of them, are pretty much used by folks that are in the horse racing industry. Since we've been here (2 1/2 years) we've only got one couple that are...
Our motorhome has a Onan Marquis 5.5Kv gas genset model 5.5BGMFA26105H. The PO didn't use it much so the hours are low for it's age. We've been using it as often as we can, and so far it had been working fine. This spring when we moved into the coach it wouldn't start, but our trusty local tech was able to get...
Hi! Someone had pulled up an old thread about who was going to the 2013 Tampa Show, but I think they really meant the 2014 Tampa Show, so I figured I would start a new one and ask the question: Who is going to the 2014 Tampa Show in January?Bill and I are going, not sure of our exact schedule yet, but if anyon...
Another newbie question. In this sub freezing weather (8 degrees with windchill of -4 overnight) is there a need to let inside faucet drip? Our trlr has an enclosed bottom, tank heaters, heated water supply hose with extra insulation around it and around both connections (campground faucet and hoo...
All of my research on solar panels seems to heavily endorse AM Solar. I would be absolutely fine with ordering from them, but am totally unqualified to install by myself. A trip to Oregon just for the install seems a really long distance. Could any of you recommend an installer in my area (central PA)...
Hi,I have been having numerous problems with my Atwood Leveling System since I purchased my 2006 Allegro motorhome in that year. Every jack has been replaced at least once. This last problem involved one of my jacks dropping to the road while I was driving. Luckily it didn't catch on anything in the...
My wife just retired and we purchased a Flagstaff 8528 IKWS from RV Direct. We live in Mpls, MN and picked up in Des Moines. We saved enough to pay for the hitch and an eight day shake down trip to three state pks. 0 degrees the first eve but we were cozy inside. We had a good buying experience and a great trip...
Okay, I seek advise , wisdom , and how-to support from my fellow RV bloggers. I recently started a facebook page - I have always swore them off, but will try it a little bit. Anyway, I got the 3 Social Connects icons up and running on my web/blog. I can NOT figure out how to take the previous tiny icons in the...
We were so excited to our first trip with our HOME to our daughter's. Everything went great pulling it and setting up for the first time. However, It has rained our whole time here and so we can't get it out of her yard. Because of work and appointments we have to leave it and come back this weekend. Obviou...
The link below has been around since 2010, but I'm going to bring it back because many here might not have seen the images at the Denver Post's Plog. If these interest you, there are links to other Denver Post Plog entries after all the photos in this one. Those pay homage to the events of D-Day in Europe...
I am sure this has been amply covered but I am trying to fill out our budget spreadsheet (purchased from Howard) and I am struggling with a target amount for internet and TV services. We are technology saavy and watch TV so looking for a budget amount that would give us plenty of access. If you could sha...
