Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

First RV just purchased

My wife just retired and we purchased a Flagstaff 8528 IKWS from RV Direct. We live in Mpls, MN and picked up in Des Moines. We saved enough to pay for the hitch and an eight day shake down trip to three state pks.  0 degrees the first eve but we were cozy inside. We had a good buying experience and a great trip. With our jitters diminished we can start planning our next big adventure which includes renting our home for nine months and visiting the west.  Thanks to everyone on this site for your invaluable knowledge.  If you have any questions about RV Direct or our fiver please ask!

How exciting!  I still have to wait until summer.  Please put some posts about the campgrounds you stay in and how things are going.  Enjoy!!

Carol, Dan and Echo,

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the board! I like the floor plan on your Flagstaff. Are you planning on full-timing or extended living in your new 5er?

If so, you might find that the CCC may be a little low. According to the Flagstaff website, it lists the CCC of only 1,268lbs. If you add the weight of full propane tanks, a spare tire, battery, and a full tank of fresh water, its carrying capacity drops to less than 800 lbs - not much for all your worldly possessions.

Thanks Chip. This is our first RV and don't know what the future holds. We have always been canoe/ tent campers and wanted to try something new. We are bringing a second vehicle for kayaks etc. So that will help.

Cool guys,

I'm not trying to be critical, just trying to share a little of what I've learned. Though not a full-timer yet myself, I've been an RVer for a few years (and a camper all my life.) I'm doing a lot of research on full-timing and am preparing for my DW, Skittles (my new sun conure) and I joining their ranks in 5 short years. Just a few weeks ago I purchased my future full-time TT tow vehicle, an F-250, long-bed, supercab, 6.4l diesel. What do you use to pull your Flagstaff fiver?
