Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
It's 4:30am, outside temperature is minus 5 & the furnace has failed again. Down to 57 degrees in the RV. We have space heaters going but can't get it any warmer. We've been in this 2008 MS for 3 years & every winter the furnace stops working. Every time it fails, we replace the mother board &...
This may have been brought up in the past but I just came across it and found it to answer SO many questions I see here that members have so this might be a good site to bookmark: http://changingears.com/ Hope you find it useful. I haven't had a chance to go through it but the basic info I was looking for...
I understand that Good Sam offers a mail forwarding service and provides a legal address. Is this true of any mail forwarding service - that you can use their address as your own legal one for domicile purposes (taxes, driver's license, voters registration, etc) or does it need to be through an estab...
Hi every one, I am east of Edmonton Alberta and we made the news today as the coldest place on EARTH today. As I type this we are at -38 and -46 with the wind chill. Colder than Antarctica and Siberia. I can't believe we still have power as it usually goes out at temps like this. Tomorrow is going to be even co...
We've gotten to the point where I need to buy and install the equipment to tow our 2012 Jeep Liberty behind our Foretravel. After doing some research, it looks like I'm down to Blue Ox or Roadmaster equipment. Each one has a dealer about an hour away, but in opposite directions. Camping World sells the R...

Hi all! We just found this website and are really excited about what we see, and it looks like we'll be able to find the answers to the majority of our questions! We'd originally planned to hit the road when we retire in 7 years, but after a review of our nest egg and some honest soul searching following th...
We've only been full time for a little over 5 months now and the first 3 months we were moving around so rapidly due to work, art shows, domicile change, truck upgrade, etc. that we didn't always have time to appreciate our location as much as we would have liked. Before that we were part-timers and nev...
What kind of "surgery" would it take to modify the usual queen bedroom on most RV's to accommodate a king bed mattress? Has anyone done it? My husband is very handy and once rebuilt the whole interior of a sailboat we owned. We are thinking he might be able to modify if it doesn't interfere wit...
We got the funds for our Trilogy so will begin planning how to get it home. Am paying the dealer to ship it from Ohio to the republik of Cali. Next step is to modify the Volvo to accommodate the trailer and the Smart. Need a hitch for the trailer and a couple of rails for the Smart to allow us to move about the c...
Update: job for husband did not come through. Recall I am being made redundant from my job at the end of the month. Original plan was to finish fixing up the house and have it ready for the market in the spring. Now we need to use those funds to pay the bills, which may last 2-3 months if we're lucky. Nee...
How do you handle chronic medical issues? Do you keep a "home base physician" for twice yearly refills on meds or do you find a new doc where you are? I have multiple issues that require multiple meds. Thanks!
We have been looking at an RV Inspection course and the certification that the ones running it are trying to get set up. This may not be a popular post to some and I did think awhile before posting. We looked over the courses and material descriptions online and listened to part of an online seminar. M...
VACATION!!!!!!! Got to spend 2 weeks in Arkansas fishing and camping. Plans are to list the house in Jan. The wife retires the end of Feb. We are planning to attend some rallies in the hill country of Texas in March and April then......... Look out Alaska!!!
We currently live in Ms. and plan on buying soon to fulltime. I needed some input on a domicile selection. I've read about the no income tax states of Fl, Tx, and SD- So what does that exactly mean? I would not have to pay income tax if I earned money in Texas (obvious), but what happens when you leave the sta...
We don't watch much TV and thus far have been able to get along just fine with either using the campground WiFi or our "grandfathered" unlimited data on a cell phone with unlimited data to stream shows / movies via Hulu, Amazon Prime or a day or 5 later from the major networks for shows that ar...
Bill and I went yesterday and picked up our "new to us" truck! For those who didn't read my other thread - it's a 2011 Ford F350 Diesel Dual Rear 4x4 supercab! Beautiful Golden Bronze color! It's an XLT package but we are probably going to add the moonroof and auto start (those are the two fe...
I am newly retired ( going on 6 months now), single occupant, that enjoys traveling (spent 5 years doing it for my job), contributed my part, now learning to live for me. I'm still downsizing, condensing, and simplifying. After working for wages for 52 years, learning to play for creativity, learni...
We're in Texas now, and planned to leave here next week to travel along the gulf coast on our way west. Had thought to say a couple weeks around Port Aransas. We read through prior posts to see what's the story about exposure to salt air, but still have questions. Is the salt air only a problem if parked ri...
Traditionnal oven are getting rare these days in MH and we will need to get use to cook in a convection microwave, I'm looking to find some receipe books for this type of cooking. I've browsed the RV cooking show and RV bookstore but didn't find anything perhaps I'm blind or I was not looking at the righ...
from West Vancouver BC. Canada. I am fairly new here & to RVing. I own a 1988 Ford Sterling (GlenDale RV) Class C (my new home), and a 1981 Dodge Ram "SunCoach" camper Van (for sale). Both were used as permanent parked, at my work. I am care-taker / Security for a marina in West Vancouver...
I am considering the addition of a weather station to our fifth wheel. Are there any of you that have weather stations or can make recommendations about what to look for and steer clear of?
Sunday afternoon 5:00 pm. Dreading going to work tomorrow. Its bad when you are just wishing it was time to retire. 2 years 7 months and a few days. Brand new dually, new 5th wheel ready to go. We are ready to get out and have some fun and meet some new people. Guess I could always quit early and go to wor...
Hello :) As my title suggests, I so far have nothing needed for living on the road - oh wait, I do have a propane lantern! I am most interested in a 5th wheel, and of those 'toy haulers' is what I'm leaning towards. So my question:, since the much lower pricetags on used is so tempting, do most folks find...
Ok, lots of great advice about the various weight considerations in buying a fifth wheel & tow vehicle. Does any of that apply to purchasing a motor home (ie Class A)? Or do you only need to worry about the towing capacity for the toad? -- Edited by cherylbrv on Saturday 30th of November 2013 11:14...
Is anyone planning an Alaska trip this summer. Would love to know how to go about getting the most out of our trip. Would be nice to meet up in various places if possible.
Warmest Holiday Wishes to all of our RV Dreams family. We are extremely thankful for being able to pursue our dream to live on the mountain this summer and look forward to another season. May the peace that we found there find it's way to all of you this holiday season. Be kind to one another as we all ha...
Sherry made a great suggestion that we see if we can get a few of us together this winter in AZ. Maybe even more than once, thought we'd start with trying to see if we could find a time in November that would work for everyone. Here are a few options: Saturday Nov 23 Friday Nov 29 (Thanksgiving weekend) Sat...
