Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all, I checked with my RV shop to find out what they would charge me to install this wired system. (7” REAR VIEW BACK-UP CAMERA SYSTEM REVERSE TRUCK SAFETY). They quoted me $1,040 labor to install ( at $130/hr.), that seems a little high. Anyone have any idea how many hours it might take to install? I ha...
Hello all,
We have been looking at diesel motorhomes and have found a FRED (front end diesel) that we like. I do realize that if it has to be worked on they will need to come inside. I can live with that if it is the one we like, but does anyone have any other insight on one?

Monday went in to see my doctor about a lump. He says it could be cancer and immediately schedules an ultra sound. Having my dad die full of cancer at the age of 68......I had many thoughts going through my head. Not getting to do the things we wanted to yet. Having to quickly liquidate my business and pers...
Hello everyone. I rarely introduce myself on these sites, but I'm impressed by the community that rv-dreams has created and appreciate this resource. I started RVing in '96. I was visiting a friend in Florida escaping the cold of living on my small sailboat in Maine. My friend and I visited a RV show ou...
Hello, we just got a new (new to us but really used) 5th wheel and we love it. Just got back from a trip and the stickers on it are cracked and peeling. Do any of you have an easier way than the old fashioned blow dryer and scraper? It may take me until our next trip in the SUMMER to them all cleaned off and new ins...
We are looking to get a little bit bigger fifth wheel as grandchildren are starting to get interested in traveling with us - SHORT trips to start with for sure! Looking to sell our current Montana Mountaineer 290RLT with the Hickory package, walnut decor, still love it! Took "Marabombs" o...
My name is Patti, and my husband and I just found his forum. We are Part-timers who have a goal of being Full-timers in the next year. We currently live in Kansas but are looking to find someplace warmer during the winter. We travel with our three parrots and our grown children nicknamed our RV ( thus t...
Just starting our full time rving and looking into spending the winter months somewhere in Arizona. Have been researching and they all seem to be just the same type of places, all desert and no trees/shade/grass etc. Now we realize Arizona is mostly desert but we found a really nice resort in Pahrum...
Reading and responding to the threads about Propane and Toads got me to thinking. I was looking at a wide assortment of RV's in different configurations, and their primary restrictions when it comes to boondocking all seem to be universal: Water / Power / Food. So, as I was looking at a 24 ft. Leisure Tr...
Anyone on here do theirs? I want to remove the carpet in the front entrance area (which meets up to the ceramic tile). Then replace it with a vinyl laminate (look of wood). I will leave the carpet in the rear bedroom area. Sometimes there is supposed to be issues with the slide-out marking the floor??
DH and I now own 5th RV. We have had varied experiences purchasing them all. I wanted to share a good experience with y'all. We learned of a motorhome for sale on consignment at a dealer in Flint Texas. I went to the website which is Go Play RV. There were several excellent photos of the motorhome and it wa...
Hi Everyone, Found this website through Michael Barnett. So nice to meet everyone. We are sort of FT. We have a house in AR. We have been looking at the RV Port homes, but they seem rather expensive. We are thinking of relocating and finding a really small (like 1 BR) home as a base and have a shed for o...
One pearl of wisdom I have come across in my research is “buy your third rig first”. When we hit the road in a few years, we see ourselves going FT for at least 10 years so our interest is in an enduring floor plan, durable and well thought out design of mechanicals. Having been in your rig for at least five ye...
Hubby took our extra propane tanks to fill yesterday since the forecast is for another round of single digit temps with sub-zero wind chills. Our propane price has doubled since last week and dealer is restricting how much can be sold to one person. Thankfully, we don't use much. But, this is the Ozark...
Have some Sentimental attachment to this old Classic TravelMaster. My brother and I acquired this unit in October of 1993; being 5 year old with 9,000 miles. Unfortnately; he could not drive it anymore in 2002; it sat until the Fall of 2004. I spent about 2K$'s on it and put it back in service in the Spri...
Gosh, I hate when I type a lot and my butterfingers make it all go away! Wonder where those posts go and if they just hang out there in the ether? We have been full-timing since May and loving almost every moment. Well not so much the breakdowns! 😄 But We've been handed a big ole Detour sign so we're flexing a...
The house sold to our first offer and we have passed the the inspection negotiations and option period. Realtor says it's a little smoother sailing now. But all that stuff is still here! Gotta get serious now!!!!!!!!!
Cindi is visiting her father in Texas this week. Her father(an ex FT RVer) took her to a local RV dealer and they toured some Class A DP's(his recommendation for us) and a couple of 5ers(where we are leaning... or so I thought.) Last night she tells me on the phone "...oh you have to see this Alleg...
Our plans have changed - had a great opportunity that we could not pass up so we need to move our full time plan back a few more years so we have decided to sell our fifth wheel and truck so someone else can enjoy them as much as we have. We are willing to sell the trailer without the truck but cannot sell the tru...
DW and I just finished replacing the fabric in our slide out awnings! The entire job took us about an hour and a half and we have the satisfaction of saying "we did it ourselves"! The awnings were original to the coach (2002) and a hail storm in South Dakota put some pretty large holes in them s...
Is any one living full time in one of these? We are looking a one of these as our new home and being new to this we are trying to connect to people that are doing it. So if anyone has some advise or suggestions we are all ears.
our lease is up at the end of may so until then we are getting rid of all the stuff one accumulates living in a two story house for 5 years… so much stuff! the plan at first is to go to north carolina (his home state), and to pretty much stay parked most of the time… i'm going to get some local job or another, he is...

Hello all, My name is Mike and my wife's is Barbara. We have been doing this full time for about 7 years. I still work full time as a semi truck driver for UPS. My wife helps her son with his store in Triangle Lake Or. We have been to Quartzsite AZ and have property up near Seligman AZ. Our goal is to reti...
I was thinking about subscribing to an RV magazine geared toward full timers in a trailer as opposed to a DP. I was looking at Trailer Life, Escapees or RV Life. Anybody have any opinions on any of them? Thanks.
Howdy folks, I recently lost a job I had for 19 years as a Systems Engineer. I started looking around for options for guys like me (over 60), went to way too many interviews and then it hit me. If I sold the vehicle I owe money on and my condo, I could walk away debt free with 50 to 60k, and my pickup truck. I am i...
