Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I am thinking of purchasing the electrical protector and understand that it will cut power to the rig if it detects low or high voltage on either leg , but , what if I am at a location where 30 amp service is all that is there. How will this 50 amp protector react ? I hate to spend $350 if it only works with a 50 a...
12 days until we are on the road and Barb has only 10 days left at work! Although she has been waiting for this day for years, it has not sunk in. She feels like she is just going on vacation and has to go back in a few weeks.Continuing to get ready, we spent the weekend packing everything we would not need it in...
We could potentially have this place totally emptied and ready to list in less than a week, if only me and DH would get on the same page!!! Ok, I do have to give him credit that he has mostly gotten out of his pack rat mentality and is now deciding to only keep those computer components and tools he knows (or t...
Another of the PEX fittings blew out on our fifth wheel. I don't know how many other manufacturers other than DRV Suites use those fittings, but I'm not really impressed with them. We first had a blow-out of a fitting on our toilet a while back, and this latest issue was with the hot water line going to t...
Why does it seem that all RV entry doors open to the outward?Doesn't an entry door that opens outward; a) expose the door to the elements like rain, snow and dust when open?b) cause the door to swing open fast in unforeseen windy conditions?c) result in the door interfering with awnings that are angle...
Hi All, This is our first trip to Alaska and I have a lot of concerns and looking for some help. We start out of Seattle Wa. and go up threw Vancouver. We have a DRV 38ft 5th wheel and my truck is a ford F350 dually and it get about 10 miles a gallon is there enough gas stations with the 36 gallon tank or wil...
Still mulling over the possibilities, and have started seriously looking at the 2014 Nexus Ghost in the 34' configuration. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYkp300FDfk I prefer this unit over the 36' because of the smaller footprint, which = easier maneuverability, and because it comes with t...
Do you even wonder what happens to those that were active members and then just disappear? I used to read and post occasionally, but never gave it much thought as to where an active member went and why when they no longer were posting. Then, it happened to me! I became a non-active member (still a member,...
With hopefully selling the S&B soon, We are looking at working at camp grounds to work our way South. Talked to a place and they are offering. A site, free propane, and $200-300 wk for 40hrs work Does this sound about right?
We will be stationary with FHU for the next few months and want to know what water level I should keep in my fresh water tank to minimize molds and other problems?
We have been traveling for work since 2007. We have been very lucky to have worked all across the US and are currently in Canada. Our next assignment is in Southern California where we hope to thaw out. We feel blessed to get to travel and see so many wonderful places. The best part is always meeting fe...
I've been looking for a 1999 Monaco, Diplomat diesel pusher, for the last eleven months. This Bounder jumped up for sale at The Alpin Haus RV dealer in Amsterdam, NY -- I live in Simsbury, Ct. Questions; Anybody know any history about the RV? Fleetwood? Or the dealer? Any history on the Ford Triton V1...
I have been following Howard and Linda's web site for a couple of years now. It put into motion a life long dream of living in an RV on the road. In May of 2013 we bought a 2008 42' Monaco. In October the house sold, what we did not sell we gave away. On January 15, 2014 we officially retired. On January 28...
I had an opportunity to drive a truck to Los Angeles and back during the night. The truck had LED headlights. I really liked them. They lit up the road nicely. I found this website that has replacements for many common bulbs. www.lifetimeledlights.com They are a little pricey @ about $150 a pair but if...
Hi everyone. Well our home goes on the market tomorow. We sold our TT & are window shopping for a fifthwheel to live in for awile till I retire. Hubby & i still can't agree on fulltime or part time RV'ing. I'm not sure I can leave my kids & grandbaby for months at a time, but I guess by the t...
We recently changed our service to add Distant Network Service requesting an East Coast Feed. From all we understood and from the paperwork I completed requesting the East Coast Feed, we could get east coast feeds but nooooo. I was told after the fact that because we're registered in South Dakota we...
Hello, I am new to this forum. I have tried to search for threads on the location of the TV in a MH. But, I can't find anything that answers the questions I have. About 12 years ago we had sold our house and bought a 5 wheel and full timed in it for 2 years. For the past 10 years we have been living in a house. We a...
Boy I wish I was in the position of some of you to be in a warmer area . . . here's what you are missing in south central Pennsylvania I follow some of your blogs, so enjoy the nice weather in TX, FL & AZ!! -- Edited by Zeek on Thursday 13th of February 2014 02:33:50 PM
No, it's not flowers blooming or birds chirping, it was an actual sighting of a 5th wheel on the highway!!! I understand, not a big deal for those living the dream....or even living in a warmer climate, but on my way to work today (in Pennyslvania) I passed a 5th wheel--on the road; it has to be a sign that...
Due to a Malware attachment on my old blog that produced pop up ads and freezing up computers I finally had enough. I tried everything I knew to correct the situation with no luck. I've had that blog since 2008 and it's like losing an old friend. Therefore www.theeastsheadwest.blogspot.com is in...
Update. Pam retired last Friday. The house appraiser was here yesterday (last thing to check off for the closing, hoping it comes in OK). One more load to haul off. Most of the big items sold on Facebook. Garage sale stuff is priced and ready for the weekend. Salvation Army is on stand by to pick u...
We're headed to Dallas TX from Tucson AZ over President's Day weekend. This was not in our plans but due to a family situation we find that we're making this trip a month earlier than planned and coming in from a different direction. We had planned to be in Albuquerque, then Oklahoma City before we rea...
In light of MarkS's image of his teenie car "appearing" to pull his new Trilogy, I thought an old e-mail message out to be revived. This thing floated around some years ago, so many may have already seen this. However, I feel we may have enough new RV'ers that they need to be initiated into h...
Just purchased a Winnebago VIA, our first motor home. I know that maintaining correct tire pressure is important for safety, correct tire wear, and economy. My problem is that I can't figure out how to check and inflate the dual rear tires on this motor home. The manual is not much help and the dealer su...
I am pretty sure this is Will Smiths 'old motor home'. He had a new one built it was featured on the Today show not to long ago. I use the term Motor home in a tongue and cheek manor here. But it would be fun to stay in. Terrible to try and find RV parks with space for it though. http://www.rvtrader.com/l...
So we finally got our license plates for South Dakota! Question is- On the truck tag, they sent 2 stickers 1 that says "tonnage" and the other that is for the renewal month. There's only 1 allotted spot on the tag so which 1 do I use? Pics would be wonderful!
