Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Other than buying "RV for Dummies", can anyone recommend a special training book or program that explains everything, soup to nuts, about owning and maintaining an RV - how it all works, how it's put together, etc etc etc.?
We recently purchased a smarter tools 2000w generator from Costco (Yamaha motor). When we plug it into the trailer it will not run on the "smart idle" position and overloads even when we have nothing running in the trailer. When taken off the "smart idle" it revs really high and...
Well we have the 5er waiting for us at the dealership in Elkhart to pick up in March. The truck has been built and is on its way to that dealership so we can pick it up and we are in the early stage process of making piles and planning repairs to the house to get ready for selling in April. I got that going for me...
We're finding a very unexpected blessing of not being tied to a house and yard. In mid-Feb. we unexpectedly cut our winter in AZ short by a couple of weeks, cancelled an art show in NM and a chance to explore a bit of southern NM on our way to TX to hurry to Dallas to be with Dale's Mom during her last few days...

I apologize, in advance, for this long post, but it might be time to update everyone on my/our situation. As many of you know, there was a point in time when I was counting down the months, weeks, hours, minutes, and seconds prior to retirement and being able to hit the road. The obsession took over and,...
Have not been able to get a message posted on Evergreen site. Need help: My black water exit valve is broken(pin is stripped out with valve closed). I am looking to purchase a replacement slide. And also a cap to replace the end cover to the outside. My plans are to cut off the end cap then retrieve the sli...
It is time to start advertising for next season.... Retama Village is a luxury ownership RV Park in Mission Texas. It is the nicest park in the Valley, in my opinion - and in the opinion of many others. This is not a public RV park, but a private ownership park that has RV sites available for lease by the ow...
So, James and I were talking last night and realize from owning new homes no matter how well they are built, there are going to be problems come up that need to be fixed by the builder....We are not so naive as to think it wont be the same with a new camper. Where do you all stay when your RV is in the shop ove...
New truck, new RV! Drove it for the first time today--we're having a hitch put on the back to carry the motorcycle, drove it from the dealer to the hitch place LOL. Getting so excited!!
So I have setup my 2008 Honda CRV to tow behind my 1998 Fleetwood Flair 26' MH. I followed the owner's manual on running it thru all the gears ( automatic), then put it in Drive for 5 seconds, then into neutral for 3 minutes then shut off the engine, My question is, if I stop for gas, or stop at a rest area do I ha...
Hello! My name is Dave. The user name I'm using on the forum is my ham radio callsign. Yeah, I'm one of 'those' I don't have an RV yet. My son graduates High school this year, and when He gets out on his own, we will start saving to buy a used RV outright. In the mean time, I've looked online as some RV's ,(I...
Hello Everyone, I'm going to jump ship, or rather house, and take to the road in an RV full time. It will be just me (single female) with 4 greyhounds :) I will be traveling to different fundraising events across the country to help animal rescues (mainly greyhounds) and will be staying a week or two and...
Recently purchased a Winnebago VIA with an Onan diesel generator. Temperatures here have been in the teens and dipping down into the single digits. I know that diesels don't like cold weather and can be hard to start in these low temps. It usually takes several tries to get it running, but once running...

Living for many years in the Pacific NW with all the rain we definitely wanted awnings over the slides. However, our first winter as FT'ers in AZ & TX we're now wondering if that is wise given the wind, wind and more wind we've experienced. Our future travel plans include the PNW only in summer, th...
I just went from a newbie to a happy Dancer! Just signed the papers on a 1998 Fleetwood Jubilee, take official possession on Sunday (been staying in it for the last 6 days), and start the trek back to my former abode to get my stuff out/sold/given away, and start my new adventure. Can't wait!
Hoping someone can tell me...does a dealer have to disclose if an RV they are selling was a former rental unit? Buying one that was a rental doesn't seem like a great idea to me...Heaven only knows what kind of abuse it's taken or how well things have really been maintained. Thanks for any input!
Well I finally got caught up on Howard's blog. I started back in September and read a month a day (unless life got in the way) and just finished. Somewhere along the way I started treating it as part research projects and took tons of notes on things I learned but I also marked down all my favorite journa...
To get in the spirit of seriously researching RV living, and developing my "right mindset", I came up with an idea. 1. Wannabe researchers eventually come up to the "stuff" wall. How do we get rid of it, how do we let go of our attachment to things. "The Get Rid Of It" c...
We are planning the week of Christmas in the Austin area with family. Any campgrounds with good access to the RoundRock Leander area you would recommend?
Thanks for your input in advance.

When I was researching solar panel costs online, I was able to save a large amount of money using mysolarinstaller.com. They got me the best solar installers in my area to give me free quotes. It was quick and easy, If your looking to see if solar is right or your property, here's their website: www.myso...
Hello everyone. I'm rather new posting to this forum, but have enjoyed the many helpful posts as I evolved into full time RVing from part-time while Bill was alive. Now he has passed, I sold the house, down-sized to a Class C RV, took the three Scotties and decided to go find things to write about, as I ha...
My better half wanted me to ask if some input on water filters. Are any brands better than others, how many filter stages should it have, and any other information would be helpful. Is it better to have one that connects inside or outside? Should we get ones that are connected individually to the fau...
